CRUISE MISCONCEPTIONS
There are a lot of cruise misconceptions about what it is like cruising right now. So, we aim at these common cruise myths to see which ones are true and which are no longer viable.
The biggest concern here is that cruising is too expensive. Indeed, the cost of travel is up, and cruising is no exception. However, cruises are still about 30% cheaper compared to similar land-based trips.
Likewise, one common cruise myth is individuals will feel trapped on a cruise ship. We have never felt trapped on a cruise ship. Large cruise ships offer plenty of outdoor and quiet spaces to help ease those concerns. Plus, modern cruise ships offer so many activities, amusements, and events that you might even forget you are on a cruise ship.
Likewise, some cruise misconceptions we hear are that cruises are boring. That is certainly not the case in 2024. Today's cruise ships have innovative features, unique public venues, and spaces to enjoy. Sky diving simulators, go-karts, outdoor sports complexes, and even roller coasters are now on cruise ships. Honestly, we often find it challenging to fit everything on the ship into a 7-day cruise plus enjoy the ports of call.
Another knock we often hear is that cruising isn't authentic travel. You can only do a little with barely a day at each destination.
However, the cruise lines have taken this criticism and are creating unique itineraries and tours to give travelers more authentic experiences. Some cruises include multiple stops in one country and overnight stops in popular cities. Cruising is a great way to get introduced to a new place to see if you want to return or if one-and-done is enough for you.
Modern cruise ships also have a host of technological enhancements that minimize the motion of the ocean. Plus, several safety and health precautions to try and mitigate any illnesses. So, cruisers don't have to worry about the potential of getting sick. You're no more likely to get sick on a cruise ship than on land.
Many think that cruising is right for them. Perhaps they believe cruising is for older adults or for families. But there is a cruise ship for everyone in 2024. Whether you travel solo, just a couple, or are in your 30s, 40s, or 20s.
When we tell individuals we sail on cruise ships with 4 to 5 thousand people, they ask if it ever feels crowded. Besides the occasional queueing, which happens anywhere you travel, we never think of the crowds on modern cruise ships.
Whether it is a small vessel or the world's largest cruise ship, all it takes is some simple planning, and you won't have to worry about the thousands of other passengers on board the vessel.
