I was about to say the same thing, really reminds me of that game which is also quite good

Earth: "hey, shouldn't we.warn the moon about that near Earth asteroid we detected? There's a good chance it.will hit the moon." "It's fine, I'm sure they'll see it."

apparently they've also never heard of the terms "warehouse" or "stockpile" seeing as the literal minute the asteroid hit and destroyed everything on the moons surface the entire earth started dying from resource shortages.

@@Snowyscales I imagine IRL they would be like "ah, crap. If the moon doesn't recover in three months, we'll run out of helium 3 for our reactors and have to rely on those outdated nuclear fision reactors they use in remote areas. That could double the cost of energy!"

@@Snowyscales tbf, most of the world runs on "just in time" logistics, which similarly caused some problems when the British decided to not be in a customs union with the rest of Europe. :P

i hope not. Because they broke the DLCs and were abondend through the publisher because of this. Maybe they have learned.. maybe its only cheap copy of surviving mars, but maybe its a really great game. I hope the last.

@@Nivarias Yes, correct. The momentum of the incoming asteroid is transferred to moon material at the impact site, and "ejected" upwards and outwards. Impact craters are where the surface has been disrupted, but much of the material that used to be inside the crater gets pushed upwards and off the surface - it is known as ejecta (Wikipedia has some good descriptions). But there is a limit of cone angle (depends on the materials) below which the material cannot be ejected. So nothing will be flung parallel with the lunar surface. It will either escape gravity (and potentially strike the orbiter) OR it might fall back down to the lunar surface if it had low enough velocity. Even a low-speed golf shot very nearly broke out of lunar gravity, so any dust and rocks ejected by the impact that fall back down to the lunar surface cannot be moving very fast at all, since the golf shot had a much lower trajectory that kept it closer to the moon's gravity. Also, it looked like the rover and solar panels were "blown away" by horizontally moving air, much like as happens down here in Earth's atmosphere. Because the force moving them was parallel with the moon's surface. It reminded me of the footage of the blast from a nuclear detonation. Which is a pressure wave in the atmosphere, NOT debris from the explosion arriving like ammunition. The "dust storm" feels like dust raised by a fast-moving atmosphere (like a tornado). It cannot be debris from the impact, because the speed and angle were both wrong. If this was dust and debris arriving from the impact, it should have been travelling with a downward trajectory, coming in to land. But to remain "in orbit" even if just above the lunar surface, it would have to be travelling much slower than the "blast wave" that destroyed everything in the base. We did see lumps of rock approaching the orbiting station, which feels correct. It's just a technical physics detail that doesn't change the game itself. They simply contrived an event to explain how the base got destroyed, to set up the game start. Please don't mind me. My own "slight character flaw" is to be a pedant for detail. I'm still trying to work out what yours might be... BTW, I really enjoy your content, your playstyle, and your narration. You explain everything extremely well. And you do this all in (at least) your second language, after Deutsch (and maybe others). You speak English better than most Englishmen and Americans. Ausgezeichnet! 👍
