I create a cosmic horror cocktail in this week's episode of Gothic Homemaking called a Cthulhurita sure to blow your mind while my favorite New York City bartenders share their recipes for best Halloween Cocktails! See the Hard Swallow's bartender, Ms. Heather Michelle create her Autumnal take on the Zombie with Goslings rum, Captain Morgan's Spiced rum, absinthe and more! And her sinister version of the vodka cranberry with black Blavod Vodka! Then we visit TV Eye bar in Queens where my friend Nikki Sneakers shares her recipe for a Witch's Brew. But then we really go down a rabbit hole of Lovecraftian horror as I concoct a margarita recipe of my own called a Cthulhurita, based of course on that Old One... the mighty Cthulhu! Did I mention I use sour apple laces, rock candy and pop rocks in that one??? LOL! But fear not, teatotalers, because I also have a simple, non-alcoholic green punch called Cthulhu's Pandemonium Punch sure to drive your Halloween party guests absolutely mad! How to make simple syrup in the microwave: fill a glass microwave safe receptacle, possibly a measuring cup or a container with measurements with half sugar and half water give it a stir. Put it in the microwave for 1 minute on high (typically for one cup). Take it out and stir it until it's room temperature and the crystals have evaporated into the water.

@@scandisnowgirl3696 let's say a lot of things that dissolve and evaporate have things in common, they're often still there. My mind went to evaporate instead of dissolve, sorry for the mistake. You can see I worded on what it looks like to me. 🤣

@@TheLairofVoltaire you're welcome, personally ever since I was a kid I've always been trying to figure out simple syrup. It's always had stray crystals at the bottom, turned into candy or just burned. Temperature controls fickle thing. I decided to try it in the microwave one day.

This episode reminds me of when l was a waitress in many drinking establishments long ago. You got out of work and got a duty drink. Then the regulars would try to get you super drunk. Years ago in a northern town. Have a Happy Halloween, Day of the Dead, All Souls Day or Samhain. I usually get a bucket of vanilla ice cream from winn dixie, Pernod absinthe, & any ground or powdered clove seasoning (i have McCormick brand). I've tried this with other brands of absinthe & ice creams & it didn't come out as well as my usual ingredients, but you can experiment. I start by preparing my asbinthe with 2 or 3 sugar cubes & leaving out the water (no one wants watery shakes) using about a shot, maybe 2. I fill the blender almost 3/4 full of ice cream (which makes about 1 full wine glass when you're done), sprinkle the clove on top & pour my absinthe in over it. Then i hit liquify on the blender, pour it in my glass & put a straw with bats on it in my glass.

One of your best episodes yet. We have allergies that include Alcohol, but just like your Beautiful Princess that you will be making your Queen, it is fun to just watch and visit. Oh man, it's times like these I really feel a bit sad that I don't like alcohol. Not into the whole drinking your head off thing, but I do like the idea of making the occasional fancy drink to sip on - too bad alcohol tastes like literal poison! Glad you included a non-alcoholic option as well :)

The cthulhurita looks great for instagram in that glass. But with such over the top garnishes it would probably be less of an ordeal to drink in a traditional margarita glass. The shallower bowl would also allow you to put the rock candy in, stick up, while still appearing like craggy rock formations.

Thanks for sharing the hooch recipe! Now let me share one with you! Get out your blender...put 1 cup of Parrot Bay, 1/2 cup of Absolut Black (100 proof), 1 can of coconut milk, 1 tablespoon of sugar and 1-2 cup(s) of ice in it, however frosty you want. Blend the hell out of it. Pour into highball glasses and garnish with cinnamon (either sprinkle or a stick). I created this drink for the annual Halloween party I used to have when I had a life. I call it a "Jack Sparrow". (also shared this on your comments section!)

The Chuthurlurita was outstanding!! I love the ingredients and I'm definitely going to try it out. The only alcohol I like is Tequila and Rum so this one is just right!! Thanks for sharing and for all the work you put into your videos!! I love Mayumi. She is absolutely adorable!!

Ahhh, Apple Pucker...the first alcohol I ever drank and got drunk on...it makes a great "Slush" with Mt. Dew. They used to make a Blue Raspberry pucker too, I don't know if they do anymore though.

Your videos are always so wonderfully produced!! The set dressing/decoration on the table while you were making the drinks really ties the video together nicely. I loved watching you craft your cthulu drink even though I don't drink, it just looks amazing and so fun! Definitely captures the silly over the top spookiness of halloween. :)

Cthulhurita reminds me so much of Orlando Florida's Cocktails and Screams bar. They do a lot of wild drinks there. I wish you went over there review their drinks especially their version of the witches brew, Virgin version and over the top Cthulhurita style Witches Brew, then try out their version of a Black Widow, The Fester, Pumpkin Brew, Jackle n Hyde and more.
