i love how the premise of this game is that you're a botanist that would have no issues normally, but the book you were left with is so garbage at describing plants that it's a puzzle just to figure out what it's trying to say

i like how everywhere you go that isnt marked on a quest just fills you with dread as if almost the whole world is covered with dead animal skulls

The drawing of the witch phygg were actually berries, you can tell because of the little stems they have on the top. The drawing of the berry to the right is a cross section of the berry.

The supposed author of The Strange Book of Plants is Wilfrid Voynich. In real life, he was a rare books dealer and is the man of which the Voynich manuscript it named after. If you haven't heard of it before, look it up, it's pretty neat.

The entire map is just the Lake District in England (Windermere replaced with Undermere), and here’s some of the pronunciations in case you’d like to say them correctly :) Sizergh (Castle): Size-uh Grizedale (Forest): Grize-dale (grize rhymes with size) Sedbergh: Sed-bruh or Sed-buh (I’ve heard both) Since they’re all real places, you’d be able to look up all of them online if interested.

"In concert with" likely means that those elements are working together in the device.

The Witch Phygg is probably supposed to be a fig, and thus the drawing of it is the cross-section of such a fruit. As plants don't produce fruits all the time, the drawing would only be useful when it is doing so. The berries could potentially be the earlier stage of these figs. That was quite a difficult one though.

Have you heard about the ritualistic farmers? They say it was a cult of eight. (I came up with that joke months ago and I cannot describe the internal happiness I felt upon seeing the title, knowing I could share this joke)

22:00 Uh... I think "concerte" was meant as an olde-english style spelling of concert, which would mean the red abony extract is working "in concert" with the device. (the phrase "in concert" means together). Basically, it's saying to use Red Abony with the device, not telling you to find "concerte". 26:00 I feel the need to point out how you're shaming the drawing for being useless, and blaming it for gaining dread... When the first plant you tried didn't have the small ball-shaped berries that the drawing indicated, while the second one (which looked far more similar to the other plant referenced on the book page) did...

This game's atmosphere is incredible, and I always like a good story. The botanist roleplay is pretty interesting too, but it seems like it's just a front for something way deeper :0

I think it's mentioned somewhere, but not all the pictures in the book are necessarily useful for identifying the plant. Some of them are more "academic". The reference picture for "Candlewood", for instance, seems to be a _cross-section_ of the plant's stem, not anything you can find on the outside, and "Witch Phygg" has an uncolored picture and cross-section of the _berries,_ not any hint of the leaves or stem.

Sometimes the drawings are part of the clue, sometimes they represent, for example, mature fruit not present in the plant you have on hand. The picture isn't terrible and you're being pretty damn harsh considering you're the one who didn't follow the clues at hand.

Plants please is a good puzzle game, the story and lore are good and rip arda from the last episode tho
