One of the best of all time! I always “liked” the Cure, but In the last 6 months, at the age of 61, I have rediscovered their brilliance and can’t stop listening! What a wonderful version of a truly timeless classic song......bless you boys....and particularly Robert
This is their greatest song ever and this version is just awesome!!!!!!!!!!!! have seen them live 3 times and every time, the best song of each concert is always A Forest!!!
For some strange reason ALL versions of this song recorded by The Cure over the years sound GREAT; each is different & each is perfect in its own right. ABSOLUTELY ASTONISHING.
I saw them Thursday night in Dublin. Still mulling it over in my mind. Forest and Lullaby were brilliant. The set had a big web with a spider, and I was dreaming about the big spider/ skull last night🧚♂️🇮🇪☘️
Very true, I was an early The Cure fan and had not realized how good of a guitarist he was until I saw him live in the late 80s, he totally blew my socks off
Brian Stevenson that is the most stupid thing I have ever read. Not even top 500, or 5,000 for that matter. And Smith wouldn’t tell you different; he’d be utterly embarrassed by your claim. Top 5 in the world?! LOL! Why not include the entire universe if you’re just making stuff up?
If you're a REAL fan of The Cure.......then you probably have more than one version that you LOVE. It all depends on your mood and/or frame of mind at the time.
Lizzy you are so wise. There isn't a perfect or best version of this amazing song. It's one of my favorite songs they put out. I'm pretty partial to the album version because when I hear it, I'm instantly taken back to when it was new. Fresh. It was so powerful. It made my hair stand up. I was so alive then. So young.
Lizzy yeah I love the F Robert Palmer extended version when they were up and coming, the ‘92 version where he plays riffs from joy division , and this. All outstanding!
No one builds up and releases as beautifully as The Cure . . . Masters musically and lyrically of titter tottering on the thrillingly dangerous precipice of love. Raw and wild!
Naah. If you want the perfect A Forest version, look for a bootleg called: "Late Show (1993)" It contains the definitive live versions of Primary, Boys Don't Cry and A Forest.
@@giacomo8756 sorry but you are right, it is ( while), all the Cure lyrics stated (While) not (if). If you played This unplugged version loud you can clearly hear while not if …
Best Cure track ever and this acoustic version is amazing. I bought the Album Seventeen Seconds 1980 in an independent Music Shop....and it`s still in my collection.
Gracias The Cure! Sois ORO PURO. Saludos.
First version I ever heard when I was in high school ....forgot the title for years tried to find it but couldn't remember... Then stumbled across the live performance at pink pop ....what a Erie hair raising performance hope to see it live soon
The perfect version would be with Jason Cooper out of the band. This drummer (?) has no style, he contributes to turn all The Cure's songs as flat as a sheep's encephalogram... Lol Tolhurst and Boris Williams forever...
For those of you who have been spoon fed the xfactor and other talent(less) shows...the things in this video are called instruments which are strummed, thumped or caressed to make different sounds and when you join them altogether you have a masterpiece like this.
This is a brilliant live version of this timeless classic. To think that they have been going now for so long now, and yet still stole the show at Glastonbury not too long ago. Total respect to a band that have stood the test of time. I salute you. 👏👏👏👏👏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
how can something so simple be so powerful. I rate this as one of my top 5 songs of all time maybe number 1 and this version great to hear again and again and again and again and again
Have great memories listening to A Forest sitting in my little cold room, 1st year of college. Now a lot older, still treasure these songs. Peace to all here. DG
...my younger siblings were big fans,,,I'm mostly familiar with the Faith recordings, but I like this and will definitely check out the original as well.
This song was chasing me. Literally. I heard it for the first time a few days ago and then it was played on the radio the next day. I love it though, therefore I don't mind. :D
Lyrics Come closer and see See into the trees Find the girl While you can Come closer and see See into the dark Just follow your eyes Just follow your eyes I hear her voice Calling my name The sound is deep In the dark I hear her voice And start to run Into the trees Into the trees Into the trees Suddenly I stop But I know it's too late I'm lost in a forest All alone The girl was never there It's always the same I'm running towards nothing Again and again and again and again
