Wow! Visually you can actually see more than the exit sign. Good job cleaning it up! This is the closest we will ever see of the kissing tour... No other footage exists at this point...
Thanks a lot! Two weeks after this show, on November 12th 1987, almost exactly 34 years ago, I would see them live for the first time, at age 14, in Paris (France). Seen them countless times since...
nice version of WCIBY with some lines from when fools rush in, witchcraft.. Fun moments during the 87 tour. A bit like the Faith versions in '89. Thank you for uploading!
One for the fans and ages.. the only thing i can add here is that Depeche Mode re-realised an entirerly cleaned up Black Celebration concert footage show from that tour. Like this amazingly incredible Cure film, It was aimed specifically as a BIG THANK YOU to the fans. So i deeply appreciate this cleaned up and perfectly volumed Cure rarity. ❤ SFP
Civilization should thank you vastly for this amazing footage, and the sound for an audience recording is damn good as well. Thank God Orpheus that the Germans and Europeans were NOT the anal retentive sadists we have here in the USA, where any kind of recording equipment is confiscated. The Kiss Me tour was the first time I had seen The Cure, they were playing the LA Forum in The Summer of 1987, and in the parking lot I met two couples, original fans since the late 70s, and began using various drugs with them, they had been following the band since the very first concert in Los Angeles and were dressed in striking, brilliant Goth wardrobes of bright-glossy black, silver, and red, wrapped up like kimonos and all had black boots, as did I; they had been to other shows in CA for Kiss Me and were a bit angered by the amount of pop-ish songs in the set and wanted "100 years" and more of the delectable Doom from the first 3 albums; but I thought so much of the Kiss Me material was so good, like Cockatoos and Snake Pit that I didn't care, and later I lucked into an astoundingly good seat already in the 9th row or so but danced up to the stage such that Robert was about 15 feet from me; the version they made of SNAKE PIT rang with feedback and was so celestial it gave me tingles; fog overtook the stage such that at one point the only thing visible was Robert's spikey hair and another player's puffed up mop of black hair protruding over the mass of fog; the song was so sublime, cut so deep into my soul, that I had to drive all the way to San Diego the next night, where again I landed near the stage, this time right over it, looking down and swung to the same mystic, cosmic, sublime rhythm of Snake Pit followed by the great gloom of Forest.
Dear Allow You, Word Space Hog here again: 2 things happened when i went to LA to see the Wild Mood Swings tour. (1) some lame jerk head guy jumped on stage and was mimicing RS by strumming air guitar near him. The security took him off stage and the band did not miss a beat. (2) The Cure, that night, did a lot of Kiss Me × 3 songs much to my surprise and wonderment. ❤ S
@pablohassanla Disintegration is their best work, in my opinion, but I definitely agree in regards to their lineup. Also they still had that darker edge in 87
I wonder why Robert decided to release studio versions of Carnage Visors and Airlock, but not Eyemou or Tape on the remasters. And before anyone says anything, Tape on Sideshow is not the studio version. It’s live from the Japanese 2 disc set of Show and just fades out. Tape actually goes on for a bit more and continues with wildly trilling pianos.
Good question! I think what baffles me the most is that aside from what we're looking at here. There is zero footage of The Kissing Tour! This was a very successful tour where is the footage!? Utterly baffling that one of their most successful albums and tours has no footage
