I was shocked to see Robert cry and visibly upset while singing Plainsong. It broke my heart. I know it's a sad song but he doesn't usually cry during Plainsong. I expected it for It Can Never Be the Same and I Can Never Say Goodbye. I hope he's okay.

I´ve seen a couple of videos with tears on his face the last year. And what I find so beautiful is that he doesn´t hide his emotions. He also never makes it into a big deal. They are just there and it seems like he is ok with that. I mean of course it is hard to be sad (or whatever emotion the tears comes from) but still he seems to accept them. That is not easy. At all. Espacially not in front of so many people. But he makes it feel alright to be sad. And to cry. And to show emotions. It´s just human. And I love him for it.

Been a Cure fan since the 80s. My husband and I married in 1996, after we met in high school in 1984. We chose to spend our honeymoon money on front row tickets to see the Cure in Chicago. It wasn’t our first time, but we never sat in the front before, and we were given drum sticks after the show when they heard our story. It is one of the greatest concert memories we have, right along with being handed the mic to sing Everything Counts with Depeche Mode’s David Gahan at the Milwaukee Summer Fest in the 1990s.

I lost someone a few years ago and ever since I will cry so easily, but I never did before. It changes something in you when you realize how quickly someone can just disappear and how precious time is. I can barely listen to this song anymore without crying, its just such a beautiful song. Imo along with pictures of you, I'd say they're the most moving songs I have ever heard.

Grief comes and goes in tides. Perhaps it was an emotional day overall, maybe the day/date has significance. I don't know when exactly he lost his brother and parents but that with the overwhelming nature of a tour, sometimes things hit like a freight train at unexpected times. He seems really open and receptive more than ever on this tour and cannot help but hope he's okay. If I'm not mistaken this is the first tour out of the pandemic too..emotions are at an all time high and even he can't escape the catharsis of his own music. We can only send him love--hate to see him hurting--choked me up too. Thanks for sharing.

The fact that Robert Smith still gets so emotional after nearly 50 years of singing in front of a big audience shows what a great artist and human being he is. I can understand his sadness, I often feel it listening to music and thinking man when I was younger I listed to this with no end in site, now all this time has passed and you cannot help but feel the world shrinking on you. Great song and band, many more years I know will be ahead for them.

I lost my beautiful loving wife two months ago from vax shedding turbo cancer. She was only 34. suffered so much before dying. In our 18 years together, The Cure concert was the only few concerts we went that I cherished. This song meant so much now, even as I've listened back in the 80s. The pain and tears are unbearable as I see this world falling apart without you by my side. Miss you dear, will see you soon.

I’m so sorry you lost your beautiful wife so young. I lost my partner in late January, he drowned swimming in the ocean after work. He was a musician & loved the Cure too & we always planned to see them if they came to Australia again. I was lucky to have early entry tix in 2016 & was mere metres from Robert. It was the best show I’ve ever been to, 3 & a half hours! I cry often & easily. Watching this I cried. I’ve loved the Cure since my teens & Im 57. My favourite band always that speaks to my soul. I hope I get to see them again.

@@MsRedbelly Thank you so much for your caring words. I am sorry to hear about your partner's passing too. We don't know the hour of our deaths but at least we found each other, she said. Some people go through life without finding their soulmate. My concert was in singapore 2007, kind of far away seats. but it was the celebration of us vibing the same taste for music that makes it special. I can understand exactly how you feel, the silence and being left alone so early in life. Im 51 and totally lost. Cant even play my electric guitar with the same joy. Constant anxiety attacks and tears. Arguing with Hashem (I believe in the israelite God) all day long. If theres any consolation for all of us, this world is not gonna last any longer with what has happened globally these few years. I just hope the temple mount will be built soon together with resurrection of the dead. Then we can hopefully see our loved ones again. I tried not to talk about my tragedy here on youtube, but seeing robert crying and the lyrics of the song just made me had to connect with the world.

When he started crying I started crying. He's a part of me. I didn't grow up in the 80s but my dad introduced me to him when I was 15. I would always listen to his music when I was in school. And a lot of those songs became reminders of core memories I've had. Remember that even when I was super depressed I could still go listen to Lullaby or Friday I'm In Love or Disintegration. I'm Glad him and his band are doing well. I love you so much Robert Smith.
