I can't imagine another "rock" band writing a song like this. It is so esoteric in its musical sensibilities and that raw emotion is out of this world. The reason a band like The Cure is so adored is due to their art that transcends mere entertainment. These are all the cryptic masterpieces one would return to time and time again.
Yes, Cure had a light held high, but they were all phased out on dope. I really love their work while they were (too?) high, but I get the impressioin they themself do not really appriciate this album in hindsight. (But the ponorgraphy album was GREAT)
Robert said in an interview I watched, that he didn't like playing this song, cause it brought back a lot of bad/tough memories. It's a powerful performance here by them though - glad he did it.
the song is about having sex with a prostitute and both people knowing in their heart there's no love and it's all fake, isn't it? That's what I read from a somewhat reliable source.
First heard this on the Americans .I immediately recognized the Cure .This is an example of expert use of guitar in evoking deep and inescapable haunting emotions that are as tangible as, say the death of love. I am hard death metal to the core yet can't escape this man's mastery of his manipulation of one's soul and angst
This song sums up a life time of shortcomings, letdowns, disappointment, and despair. It's probably my favorite cure song ever. Type o negative is my favorite with cure a close 2nd.
The thing that makes The Cure so beautiful is that they could turn around and release a song like Six Different Ways or Just Like Heaven. It’s incredible how they can break your heart one minute and have you giggling the next.
@@daveshellorz9270I’m only 2 months younger than Simon so grew up with these guys. Have just ordered a new Disintegration cd finally, my cassette died years ago 😂
Drums and bass generates firmly and professional rhytm and guitar makes that sweet melancholy which is trademark of most their songs.. Smith's voice is cherry on top of cake.. I could listen these songs all day long..
Oh yes im a super gallup fan. As much as rob. Without him i dont think the cure would be here now so strong. Love the guy. Such a presence and killer sound n lines
I love Robert Smith 's voice, hé ils so powerful to give us deepest emotions , definitly a genius of music and poetry, so generous, so i sharp, so true
Can I just say how much I love The CURE “I chose an eternity of this ... like falling angels the world disappears, laughing into the fire 🔥 is it always like this ?”

I purchased the album as it got released and I love playing this on the Bass Guitar. I programmed a TR 606 with the simple drum line and (try) to sing the words to it. Siamese Twins is so despair heavy yet cleanses my soul when i`m feeling down.

May I also point out that The Cure (whilst being in their own category) were more "Goth" and "Death Metal" during this period than even bands who claim to be torchbearers of those genres.
A very raw nightmare so painfully depicted with such angst...Robert loves Mary with all his heart this song he choked out each word like an exorcism of sorts...they are soulmates. ❤
