Congratulations! Same age. I've loved this ever since it was released on the High CD single, still have it. I started out in 86-87 when my late cousin brought this new music back from his Army AIT in Denver. I hated The Cure for months. By the time Disintegration came out I was counting the days until I could walk to the music store near auburn univ to get it.

Same here, Kari! 55 and a big Cure fan back in the 80s and 90s and yet this song has escaped me as well until this very moment (Friday, December 23, 2022, 6:25pm ET).

I found this on a Reddit post, but apparently Robert Smith regrets not putting it instead of Wendy Time on the album Wish when they released it in 1992 : " Robert Smith told Record Collector magazine in 2004 that he wanted “This Twilight Garden” on Wish, not as a B-side: “This Twilight Garden” is my favorite B-side of all - it’s got a lovely atmosphere to it and I can’t understand how that didn’t get on Wish, while something like “Wendy Time” did. It made me realize that when sequencing an album, a better song will get left off for the sake of the album as a whole. I never thought “Wendy Time” worked, but whenever we tried to replace it, the album seemed to go soft. But I think it was a mistake to leave “This Twilight Garden” off. "

Keyboards sounding like a lament bring a lot to this song, plus Robert Smith's echo-treated sepulchral and magnificent voice.

When I discovered this song, it became one of my favorites. It is perfect.

“Burn,” my favorite Cure song, was also played for the first time ever in NOLA (2013)

I was at that show (first night) and it was everything I ever dreamed it would be. Easily the single greatest concert experience of my life. Hearing This Twilight Garden live was something I'd dearly hoped for but I never imagined that it would actually happen. I loathe the extreme heat and humidity here and stick to air conditioning but that night in New Orleans, I gladly endured that stuffy arena. I just hope that we can get this pandemic under control enough so that we can safely see them on their next US tour, though I suppose at this point Robert's the only original member.

Ho sentito per la prima volta i cure negli anni 70, le loro prime apparizioni in pubblico..e posso dire che non era facile riuscire ad ascoltarli. Non è come oggi che abbiamo la possibilità di cercare un gruppo o un brano nelle varie app. Dal primo suono o gemito di Robert Smith..ho iniziato ha sognare e dare sfogo a i miei più pronfondi pensieri, grazie alla grande maestria di sonorità incredili.,, Per me é una band che non ha uguali e che ci darà ancora tanta buona musica. +Jose Melo because there was a better songs for album by Robert opinion :) but it doesn´t mean that it is not a very good piece..like it very much, together with an other B sides from The Wish singles

When B-sides are better, it makes you fall in love with the band.
