@@smallmannic8595 its just a big risk. Hes more likely to get injured again now and i dont know if risking another big chunk of cap space is worth it. If anything I'd just sign him with at least a team option so yall can drop him if it happens again.
Thank you so much!! It takes faith to sub to a super young channel so thank you for giving it a chance and sticking around, hope you learned some stuff and had fun!
Man I remember that game, that was the first thunder game I’ve ever attended. Felt like nobody was in the arena with how silent it was. With all the different setbacks he’s gone through it makes his return that much greater and from the looks of it he hasnt lost a step.
May I ask if there were certain things that helped you heal your patella tendinitis? I've had it since 2011 and tried physical therapy, rest, etc. and it's never gotten back to 100%. Any tips that you think could help?
This how you know nobody has been looking for Roberson. Your own subscribers talking about when you first made your page. So they just watched because you posted. Loyal Subscribers mane
Hey Doc! Have you ever looked at the UFC’s Luke Rockhold and the staph infection complications he had on his shin? I think that would make for a great video!
Man, you are so inspirational. You’ve helped me stay away from injury, and if I ever felt any pain I would know exactly why, where, and how to fix it. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
I’ve been wondering about this ever since I saw him get hurt , believe it or not this same thing happened to me about 3 years ago , my patellar tendon ripped a piece of my tibia bone up and it tore my meniscus and part of my acl , and there was damage to my growth plate , and I played my Freshmen and sophomore season but throughout my sophomore , I was experiencing so much pain and discomfort , so I went to the doctors they took fluid out but I kept feeling pain, I couldn’t walk down stairs right , I couldn’t walk normal , so I ended up stopping playing and I’m going into my senior year and I’m not gonna be able to play cause even when I walk I feel pain , only when I walk for long periods of time , and all of this is so unfortunate for me because I am only 17
Omg, I had almost the exact thing happen to me 3 years ago as well, when I was 15, on my school's basketball team I had the same symptoms. I didn't completely rupture mine but I tore it. I tried to play through it in practice but the pain was too much, I couldn't do sprints or anything. The doctor shut me down from all sports and even now I'm having pains walking and going up and down stairs, bending my knee, etc. The pain from before is still there but the severity of that pain is not as bad. Stay strong man.
I did this injury in both knees at the same time whilst playing football (Soccer) in still recovering now as I did this in September and had my 7hr, Double Knee surgery about 5 days later. You couldn't write it... My Patellar Tendons literally exploded, the sound was incredibly loud and 5 of my mates all heard it. I still find my scars unnerving to look at. Your videos are fantastic, I am recovering well and there's hope I may return to Basketball in maybe a other year with time and training.
doc ! although I know soccer might not be your area but it would be the best way of bringing new audiences by exploring the strangest injury/complication I've ever seen: Santi Cazorla's repeated ankle injuries + tendon infection that destroyed half his ankle tissue (636 days without playing)
This is really interesting to me. I tore my right patellar tendon in September of '17. Just a few months before Roberson did. I know exactly what he went through. I was happy to see him return to the court while OKC was in the Bubble.
I tore my Patellar tendon almost a year ago and I still don’t trust my leg fully, even with six months of intense physical therapy and six months of strength building I still can’t run at full speed ... much props to anyone who can come back from this type of injury
Love your content man, you have come a long way Sooooo amazing to see that (So inspiring) LET'S KEEP CLIMBING! I am also learning a lot more about Physiatry and that is reallly because you introduced me to the field. THANK YOU DR. Sutterer!
Great timing for the video! Rejoice cause Dre is finally back!!! No matter what the future holds for him, this is a huge W for him. Been waiting for this moment a long time. All the best wishes, Dre! You're gonna stay one of my favourite Thunder players no matter what
I ruptured my patella tendon back in high school playing football , a long with, my ACL meniscus, PCL. Actually ended up tearing my ACL again along with my meniscus because the possible cadaver did not become accepted, so then my hamstring was used. So Four surgeries later, I was literally on crutches for almost 2 school years doing rehab for three years almost. It’s a long recovery. My doctor told me it was one of the worst he’s ever seen, he actually told me it was the second worst on a noncontact injury. Just thankful I’m able to walk and work out properly still !
These videos are very informative and interesting but they are painful to watch too! I couldn't finish this one, because I suffered a knee injury in the past and this video brought back unpleasant memories to me!
One of few channels I don’t mind if they plug some stuff. I saw you did a video on Brandon Roy, I’d enjoy a series on players whose career was severely limited after injuries our other ailments: Ralph Sampson, Yao Ming, Grant Hill, Sean Elliott, Alonzo Mourning, Greg Oden, etc.
Ive had this same injury in september 2019 . Its almost been a year and the strength and balance is far from it used to be. One way i test myself is standing in front of big ocean waves. Before the injury i could take the waves all day. But now the waves blow me away. Its takes a lot of time to get to what it used to be or maybe it never really is.
Same thing happened to me. How are you feeling now any better? I returned to basketball after 8 months im back to dunking but feel discomfort everytime i do 😔
Thanks for the great content, it’s fanatastic as usual. Don’t know if you’ll take suggestions on other athletes injuries, but if so I’d love to see some in-depth on Johnny Herberts crash and recovery in 1988, which i find incredible as he was racing again the following year
I like his game a lot even though he didn't have a 3-pointer or the best 2-pointer he found his way on the court and that's pretty impressive. In 2K you could put him on their best player and he would slow their production down alot.
I’ve had patellar tendinitis on my right knee for nearly 2 years, thanks to quarantine I wasn’t able to do much activities since out government didn’t allow basketball because it’s too much of a contact sport, I’m all well now but it took me 4 months of absolutely no activity on my right knee. It really takes a significant time to rest and heal and now I’m starting to improvise my therapy on my right knee.
Be careful though dude total rest is really bad for tendons. You're pain has likely just gone away because you're not playing ball. Best of luck with the rehab though this is a good time to get strong again 💪
Looks like in his debut back hes defense is still there and it could really help the thunder if they go against a shooting threat such as CJ or even Lavine, his offense also improve alot.
So im getting back into exercising after being gone for a while and a buddy told me i am squatting wrong because my knees were in front of my toes. He said its hard on the patella tendon area. Could poor squatting technique add to this problem?
Nah I think your friend is wrong dude. I don’t think squatting with your knees in front of your toes is that big of a deal, but your form could still be wrong. Watch an athlean x video on this topic and squat form in general to make sure you are good.
@@rodt9779 so i dont think its that big of a deal for average people like me, but when its an athlete with such long tendons and probably lifting so much weight i would imagine thats when they get damaged
I am 3 weeks post surgery from my patella tendon rupture on my left leg. I know i got a long recovery but good to know I'll be back to life in no time.
16 months ago i had almost the same injury. Raptured patellar tendon, MPFL tear and partial tear on my PCL. I can tell that i am far from playing again. Until now i cant do squats or run. The suture anchor also seem to bother me☹☹
Question Doc, could you do a video about varicoceles and sport, are they career Enders, should there be more education on them? What are possible treatments, I went from being in the best shape of my life to Zero and can't exercise
He’s lucky that he got a long contract before the injury. I doubt anyone would’ve given him a chance if he wasn’t still with the thunder. As a thunder fan I’m happy to see the optimism around his return and outlook towards his career goin forward.
I think this a sign for him to hang it up. He's known as defensive player that can't shoot. From experience, knee injuries affect your defense and lateral movements the most.
Have you heard about MotoGP's world champion Marc Marquez who fractured his humerus on sunday's race at Jerez and is planning on racing this weekend after his surgery? His crash was terrifying!
hey doc.. idk when or how i stumbled across your channel.. and being that you are a doctor .. meaning you will ALWAYS be in demand so you are a busy man. but to have been subscribed eh... i'll say about a year and a half now.. and seeing your content. i know you probably working your dream career and being that you are a sports fan.. you like to give updates on pros.. and i respect that.. not only that.. it's interesting hearing about and learning something new from your videos. i would like to say thank you for the content.. keep doing your thing.. Im definitely a fan. But now.. I've been wondering what happened to this guy.. i know who he dating or was... the original 2ktv host Rachel.. besides that i haven't seen him in nba game since the OKC Durant parted ways..
I ruptured my quad tendon 5 years ago. I had a nasty fall where the weight of the impact on my kneecap caused it to snap. When I saw this me knee started to a ache momentarily 😂. It took about 3-4 years b4 I felt completely normal again. No aches... and I squat down with confidence now
