I mean, credit for putting together such an unequivocally celebrative piece that largely ignores Russ's flaws/criticisms - but surely some fact checking is required around statements such as "instilling a winning culture at Washington" (how's that going!) and that "his basketball IQ has aged like fine wine" when it's generally seen as one of his biggest shortcomings. I don't think you can really make a video about Russ's career without having the fact that he's such a divisive player as your leading plotline - this just paints him as an unchallenged legend of the game.
It’s not Russ’s fault Washington has faltered without him. If anything that’s helping the point, he brought them their only playoff appearance in the last 6 years and while he has questionable late game basketball IQ, he’s still one of the better players in the league when it comes to understanding the game. You don’t lead the league in assists and are a 16 year veteran without having a good level of basketball IQ. He’s just an emotional player. Most of Russ’s media coverage is overwhelmingly negative, I get you need to have both the good and the bad but there’s no need to focus on his deficiencies when everyone’s shoved it down our throats like he’s a trash player for the last 3-4 years now.
@@xdarkxskullzx Yes but to 'instil' is to plant that winning culture into the young players for them to take forward after he leaves, which hasn't happened. Yes Russ absolutely made Washington better and got them into the playoffs whilst he was there, but I don't think it's right to say he instilled a winning culture.
