Have to disagree. Im a black person myself. I`d be pissed if they finally made a game about black people fighting for their freedom but you are forced to play as a white dude, because there was this one guy back in the day that might have helped some slaves out. What i'm saying is: If the shoe where on the other food you'd be outraged. Same goes "wokeness" in game. Here is issue: Doing DEI is fine, but it shouldnt be a checklist that needs to cover EVERYTHING all the time just for the sake of meeting standards. Instead of coming up with a great story first, they come up with all the DEI they want present in the game and then design a character arcs and gameplay features around that. Most players just want cool looking characters they can identify with. Thats it. Including playable non-white characters is absolutly what i want. But look at games like Dustborn. The Cast is a black pregnant BI person, a non binary plus size girl muslim girl with anxiety, a "gaslighting" lesbian and a mexican cis dude (he is the only one without powers and gets bullied the whole game). Gameplay is "the power of words" where the player has the ability to "cancel" or "trigger". The game has a peak of 78 players. Concord failed due to several issues. DEI is certainly not the main issue but a contributing factor. If the marketing of a game is this focused on esthetics you better be sure to have appealing characters. Very few wants to play as a fat chick, or the edgy overconfident trans person, the lesbian, the fish dude (who is the only "white" male character without beeing white), the E-Girl etc. The truth is 80+% of this type of games are cis Hetero white dudes. If you are making a AAA 200M+ game, you better have something in to appeal to that demographic.

@nikb9036 with all due respect, there has been plenty of games where the black character has the usual stereotypical troupes I don’t care because 1.) I play games for story, gameplay & world building 2.) I don’t expect middle aged white men to be able to accurately portray a black person in gaming especially if they don’t have any black counterparts If you haven’t played or had no intentions of playing the game just like the Assassin Creed guy then there is no reason to be this invested just play another game But I appreciate the feedback

@@JusttRobGaming 1) Well, if you are playing gamnes for Story & Worldbuilding, would you like story where its obvious that the world and the characters are the way they are because of a checklist that needs to be fullfilled, or because it makes sense within the world? 2) Thats fine, but then a agian, dont brag to your playerbase how "historically accurate" the game is and all the research that you did on it, when in reality it all stems from one book by one guy. More and more games that i used to like are getting worse and worse because of said things. At this point the best 3-4 games ive played in the last 2-3 years where from non western companys. And its obvious why.

@@nikb9036 counter: I never said the game is historically accurate I said Yasuke is. And to be quite frank the only research I done was a quick google searched of 2 articles I can care less if the game is fire or dumpster juice NONE of us will know until release I personally just think it’s weird that IF keyword IF that’s the sole reason for you not playing the game if western games are giving you that much of a hoopla I recommend playing indies like nine sols which is fire

@@JusttRobGaming Ubisoft themself bragged about the crazy research they did on Yasuke and how historically accurate the game will be. But it turned out that is not actually true. The only thing that is known for a fact is that a guy named Yasuke existed. Thats it, original sources suggest he was a weapon holder but even that is not confirmed. Everything else comes from the guy who wrote a book about him. The book doesent meet scientific standards at all. It was just the most convinient way to insert DEI into the game. If the overall gaming expierence is great, i dont care about DEI or "wokeness" in games. But the issue is: They arent, with the exception of a few titles like BG3 (But then again, they already had the world mapped out and main characters as well so they had little room to screw things up) Look at games like starfield. They were so focused on having diverse characters that they just forgot to give them actual personality. Id rather have a game with all men or all woman, or all aliens, but each of them with depth than DEI characters with none or the most cliche for every DEI group. It kills the emersion. Currently on my second Black Myth: Wukong run, played the shit out of Elden Ring, all Zelda games, Final Fantasy.. Both new IPs and old school ones that managed to stick to their roots. The last Western Games i enjoyed actually had DEI in them but it was fitting not a checkbox. GTA 5, Cyberpunk and BG3. GTA has always been about critizing scociety without taking itself to serious. Cyberpunk based in a future. As society gets more liberal over time it fits into the idea of the universe. BG3 All Characters are so rich and well thought out that didnt even notice.

"All it takes is a quick google search" - To find articles that all point back to the same book that uses the author of said book as its references. Meanwhile, according to any primary sources about him we know that he: -Existed -Served under Nobunaga in some fashion. -Was of African descent. I like his idea as a character in most things. But I'll scoff at his inclusion in a historically-inspired movie or game the same way I scoff at mythical creatures in the previous games.

I mean somewhat true but at the end of day gaming is about having fun I care more about the gameplay then him being historically accurate. If he was a retainer for Nobunga then that means he was a samurai, my question to you is will you be playing the game?

@@JusttRobGaming That's like saying every young European page was a knight. Of the samurai stock and social class, yes, but not in the manner which the game portrays. I'm a fan of the traditional style of AC so I haven't played any of the newer games and probably won't. You aren't wrong in simply worrying about the game being fun though. Personally, the only thing that really urks me is the thought of some smug, blue haired, white women taking a character made up by some smug soy boy liar, putting him in a game set in some culture to the tune of mfing _hip-hop music_ like some kind of caricature and acting like they are the holy saviors of both an entire race and respectful to the cultures of the people they patronized with it.

But AC was always about historical fiction. Like DaVinci's flying machine. That thing didn't work in real life yet it works perfectly in AC 2. Nobody should ever learn history from an AC game.

@@whosaidthat84 my point exactly at the end of the day these are video games and they are meant for enjoyment if every game that takes place in the past was 100% historically accurate then it wouldn’t be nearly as fun
