It would be very cool if what they built in past centuries had scrolls or manuscripts written in detail about who built it, what was the purpose and how they did it

I know people slate this show but its not really about the treasure thats just about the back story.. what I love about this show is its ability to engage me in peoples passion to follow dreams of old mysteries and legends.. as a retired bloke of 51 yers old im lucky enough to follow my passion and explore.... such a great show

We discovered another piece of wood that has a notch cut in one corner. We got to get it tested so we can determine what it is and who might have put it here and why. Next season they'll be able to determine if It's from oak

Very interesting. Everything has a meaning to it. All these structures that they are finding is just part of the history of oak island, and all you have to do is dig a little deeper to find the answers.

How they can drag out nothing for season after season after season is pure genius!

Got me again with the suprising find that turns out to be more buried wood no treasure

Launching longboats down a steep incline. Waters have risen in last 1200 years submerging coastlines. Viking longhouse.

In history the u shaped structure leads to a finger drench system that was built in the 1800's to haul boats. There is no treasure or gold there. Read your history and it will tell you. Wasting time digging for no reason.

I love watching history unfold with these guys, and love learning with them as they go. I would love to spend a week with them on that site and just see and what they have accomplished and get my hands dirty as well!🤟😎

The island is a dry dock for ships

Notching logged walls is not ancient , its relatively new type of building.

I'm seeing a lot of round washed rocks there. Either that's an old stream bed or a old shore line. Small as the island is, it's not likely they were formed by a flowing stream on the island, so they were most likely rounded by wave action or by a stream somewhere else and later carried to the island. Add in all the timbers and it's obvious someone was trying to do something there for a long time. Question is, what? Hide a treasure? Seems there would be easier ways and better places. Dry up a swamp? Seems there would be dryer places. Create an elaborate reverse osmosis water purification system? Seems there would be better ways and better places. Create difficult labor for prisoners/slaves for no particular reason? Plausible.

What was the water level 250 years ago when a lot of work was going on there

Just a guess. Looks to me like at every stage that man tried to work here for what ever reasons, there was a great battle with mother nature to keep water out and devouring everything they attempted. The u shape may have been an attempt to dam off water and constant mud. I have to wonder, did these early groups end up giving up on trying to dig tunnels and whatever work they were doing because of the losing battle with the high water table or did they just pull out because their work was accomplished? Looks like they were attempting anything they could, not hide things and create the swamp but trying to keep it from rising ground water and mud and becoming a swamp. Once the people left and nobody to keep up with the rising waters, the water and mud devoured the entire area. No doubt there were attempts to build or dig tunnels and it is interesting to find artifacts, wood and even signs of tunnel shoring so deep in the ground. There may or may not be treasure down there but from what I see makes me question that if by chance there is, how can it be retrieved? The danger of digging that deep and the water and mud, no man could go down there and if the danger and high water table is so high and problematic now, why would it have been any less so 200-500 yrs ago?

This is depressing just looking at it. Guess it is cursed.
