I always found the guns on their head and the trigger on their chest really sinister. They need to bring that back.

Weirdly enough, they did that with the Mondasian Cyberman (specifically Bill) in the Series 10 episode "The Doctor Falls" instead of holding onto the weapon on their waist like they did in "The Tenth Planet"

These Cybermen with guns on their heads are primitive in comparison to other Cybermen, but if you let that sink in, you’ll find that the gun-head thing is extremely grotesque and fucked up. I can only imagine the horrible conversation process for the Cybernomads

One of my all time favorite serials. The moment you see Cyberleader's head poke though the airlock is one of those childhood moments (I'm nearly 50 now) of absolute terror. That scene where they take out the Station Commander and Lester will always stand out as one of those moments that frightened me as a child. ....even machine guns won't stop them.

One of the most underrated Dr Who stories of all time. For me it had everything. Mystery on board a space station. Cunning and sly baddie on board. A cybermen invasion of the station and later the planet Voga. Voga is given a good back story of its culture and rival political factions. A big How do they get out of this one Situation with the bombs. Scenes shot in Wookey Hole are spectacular. Of course criticism can be levelled at some plot holes or poor sfx, but that can be said of most stories in the classic era. I love this one, it’s in my top five of all time. ❤

A shame they butchered the execution of it all by having the most genuinely terrible portrayal of the Cybermen by far in all of Classic Who. As a kid I liked it, but not so much now…

@@Gojirawars03 I hear you, for sure. The performance of a few of them was questionable, far too human. Even though the show has been at pains to continue the trend ever since. Cyber leader in a subsequent story saying Excellent, full of emotion! And the more recent cybermen often shown to have a human side to them trying to break back through, one being the brigadier of course. But I do know what you are saying of course. Some kind of voice synthesiser should have been used, for a start, for their voices. But, I love it, and it’s just my opinion. I think the outfits were something special for me really, I dunno why, they’re just my favourite cybermen model, right down to shooting from their foreheads which was so cool. Cheers.

Ironically, the Doctor called them "total machine creatures" in this story. But the Cyber Leader acted more human and emotional than David Banks' Cyber Leader did in the 1980s Cybermen episodes.

I remember Dreamwatch magazine printing an obituary for him (Kevin Stoney), only to have him turn up at a convention and prove them wrong. They'd seen the death notice of a K. Stoney in some theatrical paper and assumed (incorrectly) it was him. Rumours of his death were greatly exaggerated!

@@thedoctorwho73 There have been hundreds of terrible one-off monsters, but assuming you mean long-running ones I'd never liked the Sea Devils. Other than that they're mostly long-running because they're pretty good. Favourite: the Ice Warriors.

@@FreeTheDonbas I think that was true up until recently. World Enough And Time is the best Cybermen story ever, and Dark Water is also fantastic. No idea why it took them so long to get them right, but for me at least, they absolutely did eventually.

A) THey all know its Cybermen on the ship, yet they just watch it docking. Doctor rushes to try to block the Airlock. They had plenty of time watching it turn an comes towards them to go do something more to the airlock. B) Doctor had plenty of time to run from the cybermen .. he hid instead. A little confusing.

This is generally seen as one of the worst Tom Baker stories but I actually quite like it. Probably because it's such an excellent season of the show though, it isn't a classic even by Cybermen standards.
