The Cycle of SMG4 Youtubers - and Why Some of Them Quit 

And now, Megan's gone as well. It isn't new but i still am sad that it happened because i found Megan's channel when times were very rough for me and Megan's channel shared comfort for me and i was very good buddies with megan. This community sucks but i am staying here since i am a successor of the character megan. And i have Jake Fantasy, SMGJr and Chris left. I am mad at the community that they pushed megan so far

Speaking as someone who's been in the community since 2019, I think the biggest issue with making SMG4 content is that it just isn't sustainable in the same way that making SML content is. With SML there is a much higher demand for fan content and reviews, Whereas with SMG4 nobody really cares as much. Barely any of these SMG4 fan channels are able to receive traction and the ones that are only fill a very specific niche, CiblesYT is the perfect example of this as they specialize in SMG4 theories. When it comes to discussing the quality of his content, And making parodies of it most of the broader audience doesn't really care. It's mainly just the diehard Nintendo fans and ex-SMG4 fans that make a big deal over it, And the most those people can do is make garbage "Modern SMG4 rant" videos that perform decently enough, But have no lasting impact. It's unfortunate but not surprising. SML and SMG4 both suffer from having terrible fanbases but people that make SML related content receive far more in return, That's why we see people like dabhdude, MAFDOMINUS, And The SMR returning to make SML content and why all of the people quitting SMG4 will more than likely not come back. There is nothing to be gained and most SMG4 fans would be better off just watching the episodes while ignoring the community altogether. In fact I think that's what most of them do already, Which makes sense.

I've seen CiblesYT leave after I got into the series somewhat recently, I cannot blame them due to the series having a nature where it's hard to really get into and theorize without going into content you won't enjoy... I pick and choose what I want to watch with SMG4, like I ain't going to watch the Skibi Toilet vid because that's a thing I don't care for, but I will watch something SMG3's secret... It's not something everyone does, but it's what I enjoy to do. Honestly I can see how the series isn't perfect and I do think they gotta make some improvements in the future still, but at the least this means the show can be experimental and try different things. Oh and while I personally didn't experience the fanbase being that toxic, it is filled with kids or just peeps who don't usually act on the net... Or veterans of the series who have trouble letting the series be something different, so I hope the fanbase only gets better before it gets bigger.

easiest way to not leave smg4 community: 1. never join it 2. stay in a side that fits you the most and the funny thing is, I even had thoughts on leaving SMG4's fanbase but then I realized that then my Friday Night Funkin' animation would be a entire waste of my hard work.. sooo I'm staying lol

So… basically: Cibles: Had a very mentally unhealthy method of going through SMG4 videos and making theories off of it. Leading him to reasonably quit for his own sake. Machroma: pretty much just lost interest in the channel. Along with that the toxic minority of the fanbase being way too loud.

There is even more drama going on right now with Tari's old voice actor being replaced and she wasn't told about it. Yeah it seems like the drama with SMG4 just continues to get worse and worse overtime. I don't understand why Luke or Kevin don't come out and address this. Its the reason why they have been falling off so recently.

I totally agree. I don't blame CiblesYT for leaving SMG4. The show started feeling a bit repetitive with the WOTFI Arcs, the normal episodes not being funny, the show loosing it's characters charm from the past, & the fan base was split with the classic & modern fans fighting each other & being toxic to critics & called them haters, even though they just care about SMG4 & want his content to be better.

As someone who’s been a smg4 fan since 2015, I don’t hate them for it. The fanbase went too fanmade characters and comics too shipping and rule34 which makes me sick. There is some shipping in the fanbase that Isn’t bad and I’ll ship actually, but half of the other fanbase is smg34 and meggy with Mario which half of the shippers don’t care about other ones and forget about the show, only cared about the shipping. As I saw toxic fans join I had those times I wanted to quit the smg4 fanbase too. I like the show and all but the fanbase is changing the show also, I am yet a smg34 shipper but ever since the RU-vid arc came everything changed, no I want to see smg3 and 4 as friends but the fanbase as slowly become toxic. Machorma also explained how he quit how smg4 fans were being sexual as he showed proof too.

I know I’m late to this but I wanted to say this I can see how people think that making SMG4 videos and staying in the community is very stressing, me for example, I have been dealing with nonstop harassment by the SMG34 part of SMG4 because of my opinion on the ship and they have been doing this since December 26th, 2022, I would mostly have breakdowns and I even had thoughts of offing myself, however I knew that people out there genuinely liked my content and that my channel kind of surrounds more on SMG4 than my favorite TV Show mainly because nobody talks about it cause it’s very underrated, but yes, the fandom can be VERY toxic and discriminatory but those are people we shouldn’t care about since they don’t matter, but I can see why these people get stressed sometimes

Well, about the machroma situation it states that on twitter he kinda made some shippers mad (which doesnt surprise me cuz its twitter.) He made this tweet that i think he wast really clever with. I dont remember what it said... but a lot of shippers were trying to "kick his ass" or atleast thats what machroma said. The way machroma acted knowing that this is FREAKING TWITTER and how he literally just responded the comments with a bunch of stuff before the apology on my opinion, i think this is dumb and really childish. The way machroma acted over this and the way the fans took it. Its just dumb. I just cant believe people get into this big ass controversies just for such little things...
