It is amazing to see the extent to which Anbernic has created a repeat customer out of me. Now I need this handheld too and it will probably be the seventh unit for me that they made and that isn’t including the other retro handhelds that I own. There is one that is optimal to experience multiple consoles for the most authentic experience and that is the issue in my case.
I too have purchased too many anbernics. Only I tend to sell one to offset cost of a new model. Originally had a RG350, sold it for a RG350M. I have a RG351V that will help offset the cost of this RG40XXV. Goodbye to my Woody.
@@adamkane7513 It is really easy to buy too many. I have 8 siblings and all but one are gamers. I will probably throw a bunch in a box that are all fully loaded with games and the best versions of themselves that they can be and ship them out so they can all pick one out for themselves for Christmas.
Just ordered this over the sp version; haven't bought a retro handheld in over a decade. Nodded my 2ds xl and have realized I don't have the patience to play rpgs on it anymore so I'm hoping this device will be that nice middle of emulation and display between my 2ds and phone.
Two weeks since they released a hand held LOL! I do wish you would have shown PSP in this video. I guess I can look at a video with a similar chipset. Thanks!
I must admit though the RG35XX is still amazing! I found one for just £30 and even gifted a friend one. As someone who loves going back to some classics, these are super nice! I got the RG Cube recently because I'm obsessed, but I hope to eventually see PS2, Gamecube emulation on the go under £100.
I believe that Anbernic is by far one of the greatest budget friendly companies. My only thing that I do not like is their OS. Everything about it looks so great and then u turn it on and see the ATARI looking OS.
I have a SD oled, and this is excatly what im looking for. Something up to ps1/n64 but mostly for 16/8bit, that is small light but still has a large enough screen. If the battery was 5000mha it would be perfect for me.
This is SUPER COOL, until you find out that the stick snaps to 8 directions, which defeats the purpose of even having one. Whenever they fix that issue, I'll buy me one. This system seems amazing
I really like this device but I’m still set on the miyoo mini. Should I wait for retro companies to get a new and stronger chip? If so how long do y’all think it will be till one comes out? I’m a novice when it comes to this. Still learning.
There are many right now. This is what comes in this price point. Technology is absolutely not a factor here. Duckets boy! That's the limiting factor for performance!
Get a Miyoo Mini Plus. You won't regret. I just one for my girlfriend, a mate and myself. We all love them. I use these pocket handheld for playing RETRO games usually during downtime at work or when travelling. It doesn't matter that new chipsets are coming out, if it can play everything up to and including PS1 that's all I need. Anything above that I'm using a wide-screen device or more likely just playing at home. The real question though is whether you want the Miyoo, the RG35xx or this. But for my purposes the Miyoo is the perfect size and form factor and Onion OS is way ahead of the custom OS options available for Anbernic at time of writing this.
Yeah but atleast for some PS1 games it is useful.. anyways I will wait for a better one powerful enough for PS2 emulation...until then I can use my trusty rg355v
Basically this video was cool cuz you showed us this device. IMO I think Miyo Mini does the same thing, basically what does this add? More power to play Dreamcast games? The analog stick is in a weird position imo, idk about this device it looks cool but I’m not completely sold on it. I’m not sure if it’s worth it
Idk I've always been a fan of anbernic's dpads. Never had accidental diagonals since rg35xx tbh. Maybe it's about how one holds the device. Miyoo Mini's dpad is a nightmare for Resident Evil enjoyers, since diagonals are somewhat hard to push. 405v' doad nailed it perfectly for me
The operating system here is also basically the same. The operating system here is also basically the same. The operating system here is also basically the same. The operating system here is also basically the same.
I was going to mention this also. Idk if it's possible to edit the upload but ya. Not a big deal at some point a mistake is gona slip by during editing.
We are getting more and more of these weird devices now that seem to do things that just don't make sense cost wise. So this only has one stick which means PS1 is pretty much it's realistic limit on generation. That can be done effectively with an rk3266 instead this has a more powerful cpu and gpu in it. Why? This should be a 50 dollar device and instead it's like a 70 dollar device. It seems like in the pursuit of making as many handhelds as possible with like 6 cpu choices (rk3266, rk3566, h711, t616,g99 and there's one other I'm missing I think) you keep getting weird configurations. Either you get dual analogs with triggers and bumpers on highly underpowered systems that can't utilize them or you get over spec systems where you don't have enough controls to take advantage of the power properly.
as long as people keep overhyping these things the companys will keep releasing different shapes with the same played out chips for budget handhelds and overcharging for slightly more powerful chips. linux handhelds definetly need to up the specs to give us more choice between decent powered android and linux handhelds. this should be $40
@@mont-doggBeats No I mean it's fair price for what it is. If it was running a lower end chipsset like the rk3266 it'd probably still be 50. Build quality matters. Quality inspection and keeping high standards cost money. It's why when ambernic and powkiddy release the same specs in the same form factor the ambernic costs more. They have higher standards. But yeah it would be nice to see some high end stuff for sure. The rk3588 has been out for almost a year and only has been in one handheld that had like a paper launch and vanished and no one else has bothered. We've had very few mediatek devices despite there chips having come a long way. There's only a couple of G99 handhelds and that chips like 4 generations old. It's weird we still aren't seeing more Snapdragons around or more lower end AMD apu's they make some for thin clients that seem like they'd be perfect for like mid tier handhelds. Better then the rockchips handhelds but lower end then the full fat AMD handheld pcs.
@@exturkconner i agree. At least put more ram in the current most powerful chip for linux devices. We need more than the steam deck as a linux device that can run at least more older pc ports and a few more moderately powerful emulators . And im speaking mainly about linux handhelds they have plenty of android handhelds with decent chips and specs. At the least more can offer dual boot for android and linux
Single analog actually makes a lot of sense for what this is capable of power wise. This thing isn't going to run PS2 games even if it had 2 analog sticks (when dual analogue stick use became prevalent) and one stick is all you need for PS1, Dreamcast, N64 and PSP and arcade boards which are the upper end of the systems it has some chance of running anyway. If you lose the stick entirely you reduce it to mostly an 8/16 bit device. If you add an analog stick it's a waste of space and money.
Just wondering here what's the PSP performance. The "joystick" situation here looks best suited for PSP games, but I haven't seen how any of the PSP games run on the device.
@@theGURUman ain’t too good man, lots of games run with a frame skip and dip below 30fps. Lightweight psp games are fine but GOW level games are quite laggy.
I was wondering if you could advise me on a good device that gets up to ps2 emulation to use easily next to a tv. Its for a gift for someone who doesnt know much about this stuff.
Not sure about GBC but Joey's Retro Handhelds channel has a video from like 2 months ago about battling and trading on GBA pokemon games across a network connection, maybe it applies to GBC as well.

Lol that rgb ring is so ugly, glad you can turn it off. Wish they wouldve upgraded the stick to hall effect, but theyre probably saving that for the next iteration of this.
@@mackw919 Pal the H700 cpu is dog faeces even by budget CPU standards and they have put an anolog stick on this system expecting you to play systems that need one when the performance for those systems is poor? Makes no sense.
@@corsinivideos The question is what chip would you have them upgrade to? The point of most of these devices is to be affordable, so you have to balance the hardware against that factor. You need to know what stronger chip is feasible, that can support a wider range, has accessible stock, but doesn't break the bank.
@@TheRealAlpha2 I mean pretty much any low end Mediatek cpu will outperform the H700 and MediaTek make hundreds of CPU's. With the amount of devices anbernic put out they surely could strike a deal with a decent CPU manufacturer to secure some better chips.
@@corsinivideos Okay, you offered an option so props for starting a rational thread, let's dig into that. There are several things to factor in. Settle in, I did a bit of research. First is stock: Mediatek chips are likely going to cellphone companies, even the low end ones so you have to hope you can buy enough to meet you potential need _and_ aren't about to be discontinued, leaving you with a short run device. Then there's R&D: R&Ding a new potential device is costly, especially one with a new architecture, as well as finding a firmware that will match your expectations. You can spend a lot of time and money just in the talking phase. What are they more comfortable with, Linux or Android? Some things run better on one, somethings you might need more power for depending on the system you want to be the selling point, You want PS2? That's probably going to require a lot more effort in android than in Linux. Is the cost of trying to get 10% better Dreamcast or GC performance worth tanking the RoD on a new chip? Are the drivers for Linux even working well with the Mediatek chip you want to use? Next should be more obvious: How many H700s do they actually have right now? If Amber is stock pilling like a half million of these things that they got super cheap from a fire sale, then they're going to run them dry before they even consider buying a new stock of something else. That's just economics. For all we know their CEO could be stamping "OK" on every "pretty but cheap" E-waste product that gets in front of him to get rid of the stock since they drop new devices almost bi-monthly now. PowKiddy rides a device for way too long, but that's changing I think. Retroid used to release something ever 3 months like clockwork but, too many people got pissed at them for it. It's a tough balance.
How do you guys watch his videos? Everything he shows is "the best ever" or "of your dreams." It is obvious he is pretty much just a puppet for these corps.
