My favorite from All in the Ohana was the dinner table scene, where Jr. boy says, "What stew again" and the father says, " You get plenty boy, there are kids starving in Africa (?)" and Jr Boy says, "Daddy, you been telling us about those kids for years, What, they neva grow up yet?" LMAO!!! Thank you Andy for my little remembrance of home everyday!!!

I remembah first grade time, da teacha wanted us to speak good kine english. We used to say "stay go" a lot and da teacha said how can you go and stay at the same time. We laughed and said "you go stay go, I go stay come".

Andy Bumatai - Toolin' Around Trying to explore the etymology of bulai. You know boo is used in Hawaii as a sort of bro or brah. The first time someone said it to me I was offended. Where I grew up on the mainland boo was used to refer to either your female or maybe a child. That girl she's my boo. In HawaiiI noticed boo was used sometimes like bro. Sort of how in New Zealand they use bo and cher bo. So I thought boo lie = bro is lying = bulai. Maybe I am over thinking it.

+Hawaiisidecar I'm not sure but I think you maybe mistaking Bu for Boo when they mean Bull. As in tough guy or stud. I had an Uncle Bull and everyone called him Bu.

I guess makua is too familiar to use, in lots of cases, as opposed to makule? ..probably wouldn't wanna call people makule to their face, though, yeah? I see an older person, I'm gonna default to makua, or anakē, or anakala, or auntie, or uncle,.. ʻcept I might get some stink eye from emʻ ʻcuz I got lots gray hair. ..awkward! (an da haole boy gets bus up yet again, yeah? Auwē.)
