Rico Dowdle has carried the ball at total of 96 times in his NFL career. 89 of those carries came in 2023 where he had 361 yards and 2 touchdowns averaging 4.1 yards per carry.
He’s built like a running back 1, and at times last season, he looked like a damn good playmaker.
Just look at this catch and run against Arizona where he turned a 3 yard loss into a 10 yard gain…
Who else on this team is doing that? In reality, how many guys around the league are doing that?
Then you remember his game against the Giants, his best of the season where he had 12 carries for 79 yards, 6.6 yards per carry, and a touchdown. He looked like a dude.
He ran with good vision, explosiveness, he was making guys miss in open space, and always gaining yards after contact..

Deuce is small, but he's fearless. And also our OL didnt give him any room to run. He ran straight into the defense and got smacked down that was the same problem with Pollard. I like Deuce, I want him to succeed and for him to succeed OL needs to help out

I've heard nothing but "deuce is too small" so much and it annoys me. If he could play in college and break tackles and make guys miss, why can't he do it in the NFL? Sure he isn't a power back who is going to run over people, but if he can actually get into some open space that guy can move

The answer is on your comment. Deuce is not an NFL caliber RB. This is not college. This is the NFL. Deuce is still trying to fight for a roster spot or just to land on the practice squad. If Deuce is RB 4, what is he going to bring to the team. Can he play special teams? Is he good enough to justify cutting another player? Who?

Maybe you didn’t watch anytime he was back there. He was being one arm snatched down. RB is the only true PLUG and PLAY position.

He’s from out of college just like everyone else was drafted. The line needs to make some holes for him to run through and I’m sure he will show you then. Not so much that he can’t be tackled one armed, but once he breaks out, you would have to catch him to do it.

Disagree with the take on Deuce. That O line couldn’t open a hole for a donut last year . No one could run behind Biadasz, an injured Steele and a weak left tackle , Deuce just needs a bit of blocking and be in space. I’ve never seen more RBs get hit in the backfield than with this O line. Simply atrocious in the run game

Deuce is small.....so use him properly! Darren Sproles was too small for the NFL as well. But he overcame that didn't he. If we didn't fix our Oline and make them a road grading Oline it's not gonna matter who you have running the ball.

I like deuce, but he only has one move. Look at his Kansas state highlights. He hits everyone with the same move. You can't just do that in the nfl.

I think the running back room is solid, not great but solid..rico could definitely turn heads and open eyes if the oline does there job and he stays healthy...but that is a big IF! GO BOYS!

Rico was top 3 in yards after contact. He runs hard has good vision, his pass pro is solid and he can break a 40+ now and then. We know he has good hands out of the backfield he can play all 3 downs. Health has been his issue im all for Rico being our starter and he proved last yr if the blocking is consistent he can keep the chains and the clock moving.

Hit it right on the Nail with Saquon I honestly think it was idiotic for the eagles to pay him that much high risk low reward situation for how injury prone he’s been the past 4 years, plus I honestly think a running back is as good as his offensive line is and cowboys has beefed up this offensive line in the draft with Guyton and Beebe and also have underrated guys in both Hoffman and Bass

Deuce could be the next Darren Sproles! I think with Dowdle and Deuce should be the ticket, we gotta give Deuce the chance to be great. Zeke is a handcuff at best that should be a last option. Rolls Royce Freeman could shine more than him behind our line.

Rico is basically an echo of Pallard, but with more injury concerns. Deuce is more than just a gadget guy, he could be like a Faulk or Deebo type weapon. Zeke will help keep Rico from being their entire 3rd/4th and short option. Was really hoping Luepke could develop into the short down back and be sort of like Juszczyk

I think the big difference this season is that young offensive line. 2 rookies and Tyler Smith. Look for Z. Martin to miss a few games but there should be great improvement.

Hope you're right about Rico. Would like to see Deuce get some actual game time before we write him off as "too small". All he got last year was clock burning carries in blowout wins garbage time, which is a bad set of tape to judge a back on.

Rico work load had to be limited due to a history if nagging injuries. Zeke would play on leg before missing a game. So... until Rico can play hurt he's RB2

Running game is secondary in a West Coast offense. McCarthy only wants to be able to run-but he’d rather pass the ball. Dak is going to walk to the line; see what the defense is doing; and cut to a run play. But if they give him a look with too many defenders in the box, then Dak wants to burn them.

I wonder what would happen if a team went old school a jag or two at wr stacked o line rbs FB and te and a jag at QB and just power football. I get it the NFL is a speed thing now so ya don't score fast but when the other team is only getting the ball 1 or 2 touches a quarter ..I don't think there is any def out there that could put up with that kind of 4qr pounding even if they stacked the box all ya need is that FB to pick a guy up and they off..and don't forget you got a def as well

I wanna know what is the size difference between deuce and Emmett Smith because Emmett was one of the smallest running backs in the league and has numerous records and rings, so I'm not sure why size is such factor? If it's weight, put him on a more aggressive weight gaining regimen.

Deuce played in garbage time when the other team knows your trying to run out the clock so he shouldnt be judged on that.Rico 4.1 ypc Pollard 4.0 ypc and we added the best short yardage and goal line back in Zeke.Running back room is as good or better this year.Everybody stop crying and be exited damn.

Total miss on the salary cap that's about it...if we would have sign henry , it would have caused so much more cap space problems in the future and let's be real..Henry isn't Henry anymore! We would have over paid for him, I'm so glad we dodged this bullet.
