Eagles GM Howie Roseman made a pretty big gamble when he decided to go after Bryce Huff and move on from Haason Reddick. However, it sounds like Vic Fangio was in favor of the move and there's reason to be optimistic about the risk on the D-Line. Plus, with impacts from Nolan Smith, Jalen Carter, Josh Sweat, and Brandon Graham the pressure should still be dominant. Also, Zack Baun is just different and although he'll be playing more off ball LB, there's reason to believe he'll be a mismatch for opposing offenses. Meanwhile, the 49ers are experiencing WR drama with Brandon Aiyuk and a new WR in Denzel Mims could be a potential target for Philly. And Dylan McMahon is the perfect scheme fit in Jeff Stoutland's Offensive Line.

I personally dont believe Reddick deserves $25 mil a year. Danielle Hunter, who is coming off 17 sack season (who is also 30 years old), is getting paid $24 million per year with the texans. The NFL is a league where recency is very important. It doesnt matter what youve done in your past, if you have a down year come contract time, teams arent going to want to pay you top money. In plus, Reddick has struggled lining up against good tackles tremendously. He hasnt had a pressure or a sack against a good tackle in 3 years. He gets his sacks against mid-low tier right tackles. If I were wanting to pay an edge rusher Myles Garrett type-money, Id want someone who can match up well against good competition.

Dude you are beyond dumb,, Reddick had 17 sacks the season before, had 10 plus sacks the last 4 seasons straight and he was injured the first half of last season. Eagles originally got him and signed him to a super sweet deal and he immediately outplayed his contract and delivered in clutch moments, helped a ton shutting the run game down also. You dont have a clue what you are talking about. Reddick was better than Micah Parsons for a fact the year they went to the superbowl

I think the elephant in the room is Slay. If Isiah Rodgers is worthy of the hype, Mitchell is as good as advertised and Ringo has made the leap everyone says he has… are we SURE Slay is our best corner? Normally I would be down for seniority but this season is All or nothing. Nick is on the hot seat, Kellen Moore wants to be a HC and if Nick is out I doubt Fangio stays. We have no stability on the coaching staff, it’s SB or bust this year.

Huff is much younger, and while he’s not proven like Reddick, they weren’t gonna give HR the kind of money he wanted (and tbh deserves) when he’s getting closer to the 30 mark. They made a clear decision to get younger at almost all positions this offseason, especially on D.

Me and my girl are highly considering buying those practice tickets, we moved from Harrisburg PA to Herkimer NY last year in September and I been busting my butt at work a lot lately and I’m tryna do a date with her since we both like the Eagles and wanna drive down and see it but possibly electing to go see a game not sure, Either way this year gonna be exciting to watch!!

Im concerned about the pass rush. Fletcher Cox has left , haason Reddick is out the door and Javon hargrave chased the money.. that left Jordan Davis, Bryce huff and Jalen Carter to replace their production. In my opinion from watching them play Carter's ceiling is higher than hargrave so we did great in replacing him but Jordan Davis isn't the pass rusher that Fletcher Cox was. Also Haason was way more explosive than Bryce huff . Hopefully huff and Davis can develop to atleast partially fill the void left by that Superbowl making defensive front line

When evaluating the decision for all intents and purposes swapping out H.Riddick for B.Huff we have to consider some things. H.Riddick has AVG a LIL OVER 10 sacks for 4 straight years while playing 800+ snaps a year. I stress A LITTLE over 10 because EVERYTHING suggests that 2022 16 sack season was an ANOMALY. So THAT 16 sack guy is NOT what we swapped. We swapped a 11.5 sack guy who has played a heavy # of snaps who's 30 years old & at the tail end of their PRIME, who went from 16 sacks in '22 to 11 sacks with OVER 860 bites at the apple in '23, who INSISTED ON basically SETTING THE MARKET in terms of contract MONEY and has YET to REPORT to his NEW team DUE TO THIS INSISTENCE for an ASCENDING guy just ENTERING their PRIME, with EVEN LESS mileage on his body of the typical 4 years younger guy because he's played only HALF his teams defensive snaps, for about HALF the amount of years and with only about 450, NOT 860, bites at the apple B.Huff was able to get 10 sacks compared to the 11 H.Reddick managed to get. In addition, B.Huff ALSO accepted 5-10 million dollars LESS per year than the guy he was swapped for. ADMITTEDLY, you can NEARLY 💯 guarantee about 10-12 sacks NEXT YEAR for H.Reddick BUT for how much longer can you make that guarantee? This short lived guarantee is costing 5 - 10 million more dollars per year, a number which H. Reddick has YET to agree on. In a league with a SALARY CAP, where cap management may be AS important as any other aspect of a winning, SB CONTENDING team. While B.Huff has been signed for several months, for a advantageous LESSER amount of money for multiple years of what should be at minimum 10 sacks and would VERY EASILY, REALISTICALLY anticipated to be in the 12 sack range, YEAR 1 due to IMMEDIATELY nearly DOUBLING his OPPORTUNITIES at said SACKS. The swap in terms of maintaining a SB contending team for THIS year AND the next several WAS THE MOVE TO MAKE. In my estimation, EVEN IF Huff gets LESS than 10 sacks, AT THE TIME, given the situation, IT WAS THE MOVE TO MAKE. IF you say why not swap out SWEAT sign Huff keep Reddick.. THAT WASN'T AN OPTION. You say keep Reddick by setting the market for 11.5 sacks of a HEAVILY played 30 yr old. You MAY WIN the argument THIS YEAR but every year going forward the team is losing because you got 1.5 more sacks than you THINK B.Huff would get u with twice the chances he got 10 with, for LESS money and able to be sustained for the next 4-5 years at least.

That's a very well thought out comment, and I agree. The niners gave 30 year old Hargrave 21 mil a year and now they have a problem, he's getting older. He might just be the worst contract on the niners. In general, it's very rare for an edge rusher (particularly a speed rusher) to maintain high level play into their 30s. The Eagles made the right move. And the 16 sack year was 100% an anomaly. The right tackles he went against were either backups, or truly some of the worst right tackles in the league. That's been a pattern throughout his entire career actually.

Also a lot of factors go into sacks. Most importantly is the play of the secondary. If the secondary locks shit up, even a lil, the quarterback holds the ball longer and the result is sacks. The 16 sack year the secondary did a fairly decent job. Damn near everyone on the D-line that year ate.. I like HR, but I agree with you. Not sure he's worth 24 25 but I'm sad that they couldn't reach a deal for like 20. Him and Huff would've been sick!!!! Go BIRDS!!! 🦅🦅🦅

Plus with the huge improvement in the DBS we don't ALWAYS have to rely on pass rush but with Brandon grahm and sweat and now huff there with Jalen Carter BIG JD AND Milton Williams I'm not worried about the pass rush so huff is nowhere near his prime hes only gonna get better same with every other player but grahm but i think sweat will have at least 10 huff ATLEAST 10 grahm about 6-10 Jalen Carter 8 JD 4-6 WILLIAMS 7-10

So I believe Howie will come out looking like Prime belichick trading away a player and noone can understand why,, until everyone finally realizes they traded him at the perfect time and his prime years are behind him. Only problem is the sacks, sure Huff gets to the qb in an elite way,, but Reddick, Reddick sacks always came in the most clutch moments. I mean every time he stepped up and made game changing plays in the clutch. I think they made the right decisions

Well... Bradberry also had a good year, so we'll see that Huff is going to have another great year or not (it depends a lot on the physical and menthal state of a player, how he can handle the pressure of the games or he must take more snaps more plays it could take out a lot from a player...) The Eagles have the 30th place of LBs according to an analyst so after years of suffering from the weak secondary now back to the weak LB squad? TBH I'm not so sure in this Baun dude. He could be good, but right now the Eagles don't have a big name, except maybe White, but he had a not so good year last season. If you see the picture objectively than Dean struggleing since he's got here and not just with injuries but with plays as well, so that 30th place could be valid until it is proven wrong... And there is a rumour about the Falcons will have Bradberry and the Eagles will take Simmons... I think that trade would make more sense than the Mims signing. The WR corps looks fine to me, there will be big fights for the spots so I don't see this Mims signing. I think everybody will miss Reddick, even Reddick himself feels sorry for his leaving, he was gambling and lost. I think he won't have another double digit sacks year. Anyway, I'm waiting the season, because they look so much better than last year, finally with coaches, the secondary looks great, the RBs are amazing with Shippley and Saq, everything looks so much better than last season, I'd love to see the little Kelce in C and Jurgy as G, so I'm so excited about the team and I have great feelings about them, so they are surely SB contenders! There is no good in letting a player go bc of problems. They get picked up immediately to play somewhere else where he didn't get in trouble. So basically, "oh, we want you but, you did it here so we're like supposed to let you go even though you gonna get a job somewhere else immediately".

In my humble opinion, after careful consideration, I have come to the conclusion that Bryce Huff may not be the ideal solution. Instead, I believe the key lies in Jalen Carter. It appears that the team is constructing their pass rush strategy around him. If we consider players like Jeffery Simmons, Grady Jarrett, and Dexter Lawrence, although I am not suggesting direct comparisons, the manner in which Jalen Carter was strategically positioned last year leads me to believe that he will serve as the pivotal figure around whom the entire defensive strategy revolves. This is my personal perspective on the matter.

I think Reedick tricked the Jets and the jets are going to try and cancel the whole trade and somehow we'll get Reddick back. I think the main reason Reddick left was Nick kept yelling at Reddick during games. So i think its a matter of time Reddick will be back, but the other question is will he hold out on us too?

There is no metric in which reddick as a better pass rusher than Huff when both were on the field. Including quality sacks against quality opponents etc. It actually wasnt really close. Huff is already a better pass rusher than Reddick never mind the next few years.
