My favourite era of The Damned was 1979-1982. Disco Man is simply a masterpiece that deserved so, so much more attention and chart recognition than it actually got. So many brilliant songs on MGE and the Black Album it is difficult to comprehend how they continually went under the radar. The Damned were the no 1 punk band and the fact that they are still going today is testament to how entertaining and brilliant they are. Here's to the 45th anniversary reunion gigs next year (2021) Gawd bless The Damned.💀☠👻👺
Vanian such a class act. Love this version of one of my fav Damned tunes.. They played this last couple of times I have seen them.. They are the cornerstone of the early punk..
I agree. The Black Album is their post-punk masterpiece, Strawberries is a close second. And some of that carried over into Phantasmagoria, which is also very good.
jajajajaa... bono could get no shit from dave. no...wait...bono stole shit from everybody then put it all into a song.dunno...i think the title was angel of harlem.my names wild mick riot
Haha, on Damned videos there always seems to be arguments over peoples' images and who stole what from who. Would it be so hard to believe that more than one pair of sunglasses exists, or that white hair dye (not shown here I guess!) is available in different shops, etc? Haha.
I'd like to thank all you bootleggers for giving me some of the funniest moments of my life. Part of the magic of this band was the things Sensible said on stage, and the umpteen different versions of Looking At You that got me into the guitar....CHEERS!
@ILiveOnMyBoat You speak the truth...... The ep was on NEMS for some reason - I have a feeling they went from stiff (DDD / MFP) to chiswick (MGE / Black album) to bronze (strawberries) then NEMS (the EP) and then onwards to gothdom elsewhere.... I have a feeling that bronze collapsed or was taken over
people talking about U2 ripping off the Damned - what about Spandau Ballet - Hadley admits they were his favourite band - listen to 'Gold' and close your eyes and imagine it's the Damned - go on.
Kelly14UK Roman Jugg played on the Anything and Phantasmagoria albums if I'm not mistaken. Obviously, during Captain Sensible's absence in the band. Still, a very underrated guitar player! \m/
