Dance of the Dragons seems to be based on The Anarchy. Henry I named his daughter, Mathilda, as heir. Her cousin, Stephen usurped her and they went to war. Mathilda did manage to take over for a short time, but Stephen took back the throne and held it until he died. However, his heir ended up being Mathilda's son Henry II. Viserys = Henry I Rhaeynera = Mathilda Aegon II = Stephen Aegon III = Henry II

GRRM might have been influenced by Matilda. Empress Matilda of Germany and the Holy Romain Empire, thru marriage, she was an English Princess, was promised the throne by her father the King. King Henry's heir and son died, he tried to have another son when he remarried but did not so Matilda was named as his heir. He had his Barrons swear an oath to uphold his wishes. Her cousin Stephen of Blois challenged her claim to the throne. King Henry was his uncle and he was a trusted figure at court. On the grounds of primogeniture it should have been his older brother but he had the backing of the church. The two sides go to war when the king dies and Stephen sails to England and assumes power. Matilda did gain power but was never coronated so she is not typically recognized as an English "Queen". The matter was finally settled and her son Henry inherited the throne, becoming the first Plantagenet King.

Hey robert another great stream! Just wanted to let you know you tend to lower the volume of your voice a lot at the end of your sentences (which is fine) but your mic seems to be having trouble picking it up a lot and I can't hear the end of your sentences sometimes. Maybe you changed some audio settings recently because I don't remember this always being a problem. Just letting you know! Keep up the good work!

@@LoneWolfOfHouseStark1989 In the books Cersie is ( fittingly) the Mad Queen, Daenery's inner dragon being awaken doesn't translate into Mad Queen in the books, but rather becoming like a traditional fire and blood Targaryen.

2:50:00 the way i read f and b the targaryens didnt build dragonstone. the valyrian outpost at dragonstone had been there a long time before the Targaryens moved there. Therefore seems very possible that cannibal was born long before their arrival.

Sorry can't remember if this was discussed in the books but why didn't rhaenyra targaryen marry her half brother after Laenor dies? I know theres a big age difference. I just can't help but think something could have been worked out. Was their too much animosity by this point and the illegitimacy of her sons/ succession the problem.

I’ve always thought this too. As far as I have gathered the animosity between the greens and blacks had already become quite problematic, so bad that marrying her son to the ‘enemy’ was inconceivable to Alicent Hightower🤷🏻‍♂️

Hi Robert, I don't know if you watch your shows back (even skip through them to check the video quality), but last recorded livestream (with GirlNextGondor), your voice kept fluctuating in volume to the point where it became hard to hear you. Just now at about 3:01 your voice volume got SO low that I had to reply to figure out what you said. And I don't keep my volume very quiet. Just FYI. I don't see Robert interact with the RU-vid comments so I don't know if he'll see this. Can someone like a moderator let him know about the sound issue? Thank you.

Great 👍video Robert, I always wonder why no one give King Maegar his props yes he did own & earn his name "the cruel" but without him the Targaryen dynasty would have never been by killing all those people. He was a kin slayer by killing Aegon, Aenys son & he took his niece as a wife she was more like a hostage but his actions before his death(murder?) kept the Targaryen line alive although the Targaryen kings from Jaehaerys to Aerys 2 came from Aenys lineage. We might turn our nose up at Maegar but he did keep the Targaryen line alive & going for 3 centuries.

About 12:30 you said they were Larys Strongs children but I believe it was Harwin believed to be the bastards father. I’ve been wrestling with the idea that Rhenyeras eldest son is actually Crispin Coles son Harwin and Cole have such similar characteristics it’s hard to tell

I love @indeepgeek but I think he has never been so wrong about something. Daemon Targaryen lived I think almost for sure. It was left to open for it to be that clean cut in G.R.R.M's world in my opinion. What do you guys think?

I have theory on how the Targs control dragon Is because they use magic back in old valria the 40 dragon lord family's like the targeryen the did somthing to them self to magical bond with dragon they bred with them and use magic ect so now the magic to bound with them is just genetically inside of them

Hey Robert, minor correction. You occasionally mention that the rumored father of Rhaenyra's children as a Kingsguard. Harwin Strong was never Kingsguard, he was just her sword shield, akin to the Hound being Joffrey's sword shield at the start of aGoT.

I hope so...If Euron stealks Vicerion, Daenerys will have a a grudge on him, Jon doesn't have anything personal on Euron. Don't worry, Martin doesn't overestimate Jon's heroism, he is kinda darker in the books than in the show where he is stupid and stoic.
