It’s hair. Cut whatever looks weak. And just let it grow at this point.

In my early loc’d years I let my stylist bleach my hair to dye it strawberry blonde. I’ve been loc’d for over 20 years. I noticed it weaken my hair so I stopped dying it. Fast forward to about the 17 year mark, it did just what the young queens did at the end. I lost about 3 inches because of it. I went threw and cut the bleached part off. I have never lost another loc since.😉💪🏾❤️

Quick question (because I might have missed it in the video), is this from continual bleaching or just using bleach one time?

I ruined my sisterlocks by bleaching them it’s been a disaster! Please don’t ever ever bleach your locs!

Beautiful young lady and a very informative video. I can say that there are people who highlight their hair and maintain it well. I feel like these stories ever happen because folks go crazy with bleach. Using 40 vol. developers, bleaching their hair 4x in one day to get that “lift”, using commercial shampoos laden with sulfates and the rest, squeezing bleach into the locs vs. “painting” it on, over processing with timing, not keeping up with deep conditioning treatments afterwards.. and the list goes on. While any colouring/bleaching is causing some level of damage to your hair (lets keep it real), it doesn’t always have to end like this. I’m glad you were able to help this young lady and hopefully the platinum blonde attraction will take a back seat for overall hair health.

I allowed my stylist to bleach my dreads against my better judgement. I thought since she was the “expert” that she must have known best. I wanted my hair a mahogany brown color. She told me I would have to bleach my hair to get it that color. I have been one of the blessed ones. No thinning or breakage. Never ever again though. Having healthy hair is more important than having hair that’s a cool color. I’ve been really careful to make sure I keep my hair moisturized with natural products and essential oils. Praising God no negative effects from the bleaching so far. I will never bleach again. Thanks for this video. THANK YOU FOR THIS! I was going to get my 3 month old locs dyed blue on my next retwist in January, but I will NOT do it because of this video! I have NEVER dyed my natural hair in my life, and I will not do it now. Blessings.

DO NOT USE ANY DYE ON LOCS!!!! I have been locd for 8 years now... if i could restart i would never ever use dye on my locs... it does not matter if you go to a professional... you cannot rinse all the dye completely through locs and the dye lives in the loc and later weakens the loc.... my locs thankfully survived after trimming a lot of them at the thinning points. My sound advice is no dying and absolutely NO BLEACHING unless you are ready to cut them all off.

A stylist use bleach to color my hair and it ruined my Locs they fell out they were dry I could never do what I needed to do with them I had to cut all my hair off and start all over and I would not encourage anyone to use bleach to color your hair is not safe your hair won't grow well is very sensitive and delicate !!!!

That nail color is EVERYTHING

For all the hard work, sweat and money put into locs bleaching them is just not worth it.

Impressive, I bleach my hair, however. I use curl activator to keep it moisturized. The locking process for me hasn't started but... I soon will start. And where my hair is bleached will be the tips... No more bleach for me

My daughter hair stylist bleached her dreads without giving her a consultation about the possibilities of what could go wrong, the way any good stylist should! Due to my daughter trusting her stylist and the process, all of her beautiful locs are now falling out which is a devastating thing for any woman who have spent years growing out her hair should have to go through, and to pay to go through it, to make matters worse! It's a shame that we're living in the 21st century and still see a lot of hair stylist/hairdressers only out to make money. Many are using the same shampoo, conditioners and treatments on every client hair who walks through the door, instead of giving each client individual hair care services based on their hair needs. In this day and age, hair stylist should also be giving consultations and lectures to their clients on how to maintain healthy hair between their visits. Why aren't hairdressers encouraging people not to bleach their locs or else??? Why are they not telling their client's that drinking plenty of water daily, eating high protein meals/ snacks, nuts beans etc. and recommending clients looking to grow their hair, take hair vitamins high in Biotin?? This is partly why I stopped going to the hairdresser years ago. I take good care of my hair the way it wants and needs to be taken care of from the inside out. Unfortunately a lot of people don't know how or what they should be doing to maintain good hair care methods, so they rely on going to hairdressers who will only give them minimum information to keep them coming back while their hair is getting damaged, and snatched out in the interim.

Idk everybody's hair is different cause I get treatments from my loctitcians. I dyed my hair once I hit the 1-year mark, and then I waited after that. I mean, until I hit 2 1/2 yrs until I was ready to dye it again. The color I have now is a mixed red. But I used bleached, but what people don't understand is that if it's your first time doing that. Make sure you know what you're doing. But my thing is to make sure to grow out my color so I can do it over again.

Now I kno why I hve that problem. Omg! Luckily for me I hve STOPPED doing that years ago. And I hve very long hair. So if one pops I sew it back or jus leave it cause my hair has since grown long. Lots of years of new growth since I stopped. Why I did it? Because I wanted my hair burgundy and that burgundy wasn't showing at all on my black nappy hair. So I had it bleached as we say, then the burgundy applied. Now if there is another way for me to hve my hair look like burnt orange or burgundy without that stripping thing I'm all for it. But at my age I no longer care for all that. GREAT VIDEO FOR OTHERS AS WELL

I'm at the beginning not my loc journey...and I bleached my ends...worst. mistake.ever.literally! My ends started disintegrate...I would just cry if I was at this length and my locs started to break or thin! Omg.. thank you, never will I ever bleach my hair again!

I haven’t suffered any hair loss since bleaching my hair thank God.. it’s been two years now… I do a protein treatment once a month and use Camille rose honey leave in treatment every week.. I think it has really made a difference. But I know bleaching your hair can do some major damage. Good luck to you all.. Look at those dimples😊 on babygirl

Has anyone used henna & indigo to dye their locs? I used this combination when I was a loose natural. It would cover my greys and turn my hair black.

I wouldn’t advise bleaching ur dreadlocks but if u do it go to a professional then get a protein wash a couple weeks after then moisturize your locs and your good💯👊🏾
