The DANI RABIN Interview | + On The Road with ALLAN HOLDSWORTH 

You should ask him back Andy. He's been working on playing Holdsworth style based on Brett Stine's amazing understanding of how Holdsworth plays. There is a series of about 18 videos with him going through the process of learning all of the scales and harmony and rhythms and so forth. Definitely worth watching if you have the time.

It's hard to believe it was 11 years ago, we saw Allan and Marbin in Milwaukee. So happy I got to talk with Allan (at the bar).

There are not too many interviews that I listen to more than once, but I'll be digging into this interview again and again for the nuggets of musical insight. Thanks for going deep Andy and Dani.

Very cool. Been a fan of Marbin for over 10 years. I even had lessons with Dani. All I can say is he is the real deal and one of the best instructors I have had. If you ever get a chance to see Marbin live, do yourself a favor and go, top notch live band.

I saw Marbin play with Holdsworth in Newton , new jersey. Felt like I was on PCP.

Dani is an awesome musician and I love his approach. I played one of tunes called Juke Joint at a gig in Belfast in 2019 and Dani shared a little video clip on his FB. Very nice of him!

So glad you mentioned Ollie Halsall cause if there is a predecessor of Holdsworth, that’s it. His work with Patto & Tempest are remarkable. Rumor has it that Halsall & Robert Fripp recorded and album that was never released. That would bean interesting listen. Also, loved Dani Rabins attitude, that is essential.

Israel on the map! Yes!! One of the best videos ever. Great discussion. Dani touched on so many points we are dealing with. The visceral playing, the separation between primitivism and cerebral, the rocking hard thing. The phrase in hebrew he meant is called "Latett Barosh". It's hitting someone in the head metaphorically by blowing ones mind. PUNK FUSION! What a great guy. I want to join his band. Thank you! That was so inspiring! What a great guy. Please recommend two Marbin albums...for a King Crimson, Miles Davis fan. I'd like to hear the two of you talk philosophy on why musicians do the weird things they do.

MMM Jazz Nice but sounding a lot like Yngwie Malsteem no one plays it faster and my ego is bigger than thine. Still it takes all kinds to cobble a Jazz Muso. Personally I think I can still listen to Arno Schultz and Emmett Cohen and not feel guilty actually far more enjoyable.

Marbin is a kick ass band and Dani is a superb guitar player
