I was so glad to see someone put a Danny Thomas Show and series on RU-vid. I remember watching this as a kid, and loved it. And now I don't have to miss it anymore.

So glad to have a chance to see these episodes again. But FilmRise still hasn't corrected the photo they use, supposedly of Danny with Kathy (second wife) and the kids. But that's Dinah Shore and her daughter Melissa in that photo (they were guest stars in one episode) - not Marjorie Lord and Angela Cartwright!

I've seen most of the remaining seasons. It got better with Marjorie Lord as Danny's second wife Kathy. Unfortunately it's impossible to find The Danny Thomas Hour post-series specials from the mid 1960s or pristine copies of Make Room for Granddaddy from the early 1970s.

@@douglashall2141 I doubt Marlo has the rights to them. SFM has the distribution / syndication rights to The Danny Thomas Show. I'd love to see The Danny Thomas Hour specials and Make Room for Granddaddy too.

Originally telecast on October 1, 1956. Jean Hagen {"Margaret Williams"} was no longer a part of the series, as Danny decided not only to eliminate her from the cast after the third season of "MAKE ROOM FOR DADDY", he also made sure she'd never appear again by having "Margaret" die of an undisclosed ailment [off camera], leaving Danny a widower [the title was also changed to 'THE DANNY THOMAS SHOW"]. And, just before the season began, Danny broke his leg while playing basketball with some friends- so his injured leg became part of the storyline {he finally stands on his own two feet in the December 1956 episode, "Danny's Comeback"}.

According to Danny in his autobiography, when Artie Stander {his head writer and story consultant at the time} was interviewed by San Francisco newspaper columnist Dwight Newton before the season began, this exchange took place: NEWTON: "is this year's show going to be funny?" ARTIE: "Oh, very funny. I got a widower with two kids and a broken leg."

Jean Hagen wanted to leave as her contract was for three years. She had frequent clashes with Danny and started to grow tired of the role. He was unhappy with her decision to leave. Sherry Jackson would leave at the end of her contract two years later saying that the Hagen departure made her last two years harder as she liked her cameraderie on the set. It's just ironic that Hagen, the first actress to have a character killed off on TV, and my mom are from the same town lol.

This one was hard to watch. I miss my children. But they grew up. My daughter and granddaughters live 65 miles away and my adult son died in an accident a few years ago. I miss my children being children. But, I'm getting to be an old man anyway.
