'Woke' bosses of a building society have axed Robin Hood from their logo because they feel the hero outlaw does not reflect the firm’s “financial diversity.”
The company stated on Twitter: "We’re excited to introduce our new brand look, reflecting our commitment to inclusivity, progress and community. For 175+ years, we’ve supported unique financial journeys and now we’re evolving to better meet your needs. Welcome to a different kind of society."
Isabel says: “He lived in the flipping 12th century. A lot of other bad stuff was happening then!”

The way us normal people can have a voice and push back against all this rubbish, is to not give our custom to these businesses. If you’ve got a few quid in this building society, take it out. Close your account. It’ll take a few minutes and you’ll feel better!

Robin Hood was very inclusive. He had many different people from all walks of life in his Merry Band, even including a Friar (Friar Tuck) , a really tall guy (little John) , a Minstrel (Alan a Dale) . William Scarlock or Scathelock, (the Will Scarlet). I think this company should stick to Banking.

He wasn't from Nottingham. The Sheriff was from Nottingham. Robin Hood was from Yorkshire but it didn't stop Nottingham appropriating the story. Very good for tourism but a bit like Berlin claiming General Patton.

The old logo did look a bit dated. But they could have just put an arrowhead on the capital letter "N" for example. No need to ditch Robin Hood, their USP, entirely. Amateurs! I do wonder if the diversity aspect to this is simply retrofitting "THE MESSAGE" onto a corporate redesign they were doing anyway. And they thought they would signal their virtue by saying it was for this reason.

Robin Hood lived in a forest! He gave to the poor, which seems inclusive to me, when he and his men could have kept all of the dosh for themselves? Robin Hood was a local hero of mine! Nottingham BS really is a load of BS now. That new logo is almost Comic Sans. How much did that cost? I might have done it cheaper with a box of crayons.

Robin Hood did not come from Nottinghamshire. There is evidence that he came from Wakefield and did his outlawing in Barnesdale Forest. In fact there are more references to Robin Hood in Yorkshire, than there are in Nottinghamshire. Still a stupid decision by this building society though.
