The Dark Crystal - 40 Trine of Magic (Movie Review/Discussion) 

One day the dark crystal shall get the recognition it deserves. Another world, another time.

It has been many a trine…

One of my absolute favourite parts is the boat scene ( Jen&Kira in the boat downwards the black river): it´s so peaceful and harmonic (in contrast to all the evils the Skeksis put into this world...). And you are right: " hold her tight! She´s a part of you, as we are all part of each other" is one of best words ever said in fantasy film.

YES! I'm so sick of children's media being sugar-coated. 👏 It's real, raw, and transcendent. I was 8 when I first watched it.

*massive spoiler warning* When I watched it the first time, the part that stuck out to me the most was when chamberlain brings Kira to the throne room and declares “I did it! I brought the gelfling!” Because until that point, I was really hoping that he’d changed. In my mind I kept trying to make excuses for his sketchy vibes, thinking maybe he wants them for something else. Maybe he knows something we don’t. That there’s no way he’d go crawling back to the others after the way they treated him. Lol, nope. I was so shocked to discover that his only motive was getting his position back among them. And you also realize that he only saved them from the garthim so he could use that to gain their trust. (and be the one to bring them in) Obviously this was the intention, but that shock and disgust really hit me, and I don’t usually get emotionally moved by movies/shows easily. It’s also a perfect way to show you the true nature of the skeksis, and a lesson in the fact that having hope for them will only lead to hurt. Side note: the person who showed me this movie was really waiting for me to see this moment, and now when I show it to others and see it hit them the same way, I feel the pain all over again lol, we are all traumatizing each other 😂

Excellent film and the Netflix series was good

I and my family were a friends house and they gave me permission to use their living room so I can watch a movie. And there it was, The Dark Crystal now admittedly I couldn’t hear anything because they were talking way too loud, but I understood what was going on. When I bought the film and watched it fully, I loved every single moment! Whenever I come home from school I would watch over and over again, just so I could see the Skeksis and enjoy them all over again. I’m forever grateful that Jim Henson has made this masterpiece and always adore his work and accomplishments

For some reason, based on the title, I was thinking you were reviewing a fan-made movie lol! My favorite part of the movie is when the Crystal Castle begins to crumble after the crystal was healed. The music and all the chaos makes the scene epic! Another thing, have you noticed all the music in the movie is the same melody, but simply changed to fit the scene? Even the podling party music is the main theme!

This is one of the few videos about The Dark Crystal which have been uploaded today. It's a pity, but I'm glad there are still fans of this movie. I love it, it's amazing. New subscriber! Greetings from Spain!

I remember getting a $100 bill from my uncle when he was visiting for a month, and he convinced my mom to let me wander for an hour by myself at the mall. Being a young teen at the time I wandered into a store similar to Hot Topic and happened to see a VHS copy on the shelf for sale. Already a fan of Jim Henson’s puppetry I bought that movie much to my father’s delight when I showed it to him when I got home. I wish the Netflix series got another season, but what we got was such a masterpiece to experience.

I had an opposite reaction when I first tried to watch it at a kid. I stopped the tape during the trial by stone. It was just too different from Sesame Street, the Muppets, or Fraggle Rock. Labyrinth hadn't come out yet. Anyway I tried it again as an adult and I can recognize it as a masterpiece now.

Did you know the movie is very different than his original vision. Jim’s vision for the dark crystal was originally too confusing and dark or so said the first screening which made him change it to the current film

One of my favorites for 38 years since 4 and my big brothers saw it in theaters in the year I was born! I also enjoyed the comics and prequel show

I saw it when it first came out. Me and brother Jeff went to see it a few times in Hot Springs Arkansas. Some years later we saw The Traveling Art of the Muppets in Charlotte N.C. It had some of The Dark Crystal characters. We got shake hands and say hello to Mrs. Henson,Jim's wife.

My favorite character from the orignal movie is probably the Chamberlain. And also Kira, but moslty because Jen is such a naive and clumsy person and she fixes all his mistakes
