I am a Harley rider with my 2017 street glide and a 2007 road King before that. Indian is my next rodeo due to the more maintenance aspect of their bikes. Indian bikes have single hole oil fill and drainage, gear drive primary, and full counter balancing.
As an owner of a 2020 SDH, I can tell you that I LOVED the aesthetics. Everything else, well, needed an upgrade. Within a few months I had about $7k in upgrades. Definitely needed the windshield, heel shifter, heated grips, backrests, etc. Dont regret spending a single dime on it though. Fantastic bike, and quite the head turner (especially with the sagebrush green paint).
Lol, "I identify as a little bit taller." Love the videos! Your reviews helped me decide to buy my 2020 Roadmaster Dark Horse. I've had her just over 2 weeks and already have put over 700 miles on her cruising around after work. Keep up the great content!!
A solid video. You did your homework. Very comprehensive. And very informative. I was very close to buying one of these. Then I found out how much it would cost to add a matte finish black smoke valenced front fender. Which I love. So, I passed. And bought a new Chiftain. Then got stupid. And spent thousands to transform it with OEM parts are the dealer for the Roadmaster set up. Ok in the end. I own a HD Fatboy. So buying a similar bike to it didn't make a lot of sense. But the Springfield is a gorgeous bike no matter what. Very capable. Lower weight. Etc. Thanks for taking us along.
I have a 2022 SDH and LOVE the bike. Like you said, it's a minimalist setup and I like that. I have made a few mods, but not many. I liked the fact that it comes stock with nearly all my needs met. Double check your video. I don't know if you intended the 360 footage to come out like it did. If you did, great, I'm just not a fan of that view.
Great review!! I just purchased my 2023 to go next to my sportbike😅. 5’10 I think you nailed it being more comfortable for being taller. The minimal electronics is what appealed to me. No need for screens and all that. It’s just the bike me and the road. The only thing I don’t like so far is that gap you mentioned with the exposed wires.
I just got a 2023 indian scout Rouge and i love it. I know i made the right decision cause when i get off of it and look back i say to myself "damn that's my bike"
Thorough and objective as always, dude - great job! This has been my favorite Indian over the last few years, actually, but I'm biased toward the minimalist look because I've got a '23 Road King Special. For me, the decision was the ability to customize, dealer network, and the mechanics at LCHD, all of whom I get along well with and think are super talented. I was nervous for ya when that right mirror came loose, but you dealt with it and moved on. Another thing I love about this video is your realness and humility when you stalled. SOOOOO many YT'ers would've edited that out, but the fact that you kept it in demonstrates your good and honest character. Mad respect!! ✌🤘
Howdy im looking to buy another bike been checking out indian this Springfield you did lioks n sounds like my new bike of course ill have to test ride n look at chieftains n others but the lack of music n the big fairings and the way the Springfield looks are me n im 5'7 180lbs so 14 apes will be a thing for me also thx any mechanical work you do on the 116 thunder stroke id like to see from you thx again im Hilbily Arkansas
Bought a '23 Springfield Dark Horse in March. Compared to the Scout Bobber I had before that, it's definitely a Cadillac. My good friend and riding buddy has a Softail. The running joke when we're together is that people trip over themselves to walk past the Harley to check out and compliment the Injun.
I have the 21 springfield dark horse. Love the bike Edit: you can adjust the handle bars a bit back to let you sit better. Or get some 14 inch bars installed
I don't have a whole lot of knowledge on it, but from what I understand from riders, getting rid of the heal shift might be in response to complaints that the heal shift causes damage issues to some delicate part of the bike or the shifting mechanism itself that wouldn't become an issue with just a standard shifter. In my own limited experience, using a heal shifter I had issues with either being more likely to skip gears... luckily not while actually in motion, or not being able to tell if I even actually shifted at all. Maybe it's just the boots I wear, but I don't have a problem when just using the toe shift. Not really on topic here, but in some of your videos it looks like you're in Ladson with the possibility of also going to Lincolnville. I used to live in Goose Creek.
I have a 2021, put bats off the vintage on it before i took it off the floor, ultimate seat with rider backrest and Indian quick release passenger backrest with luggage rack. Bike is a beast in sport mode
I'm only 4ft 11, riding a SCOUT with mid control mod, just found a chief I can fit on with reduced reach controls, would love to find a SPRINGFIELD for me
If you've ever been to Springfield Mass, you'd be amazed anyone would name a bike (or anything) after it... birthplace of Indian or not. Hell of a good looking bike though.
I've recently got a 2017 Springfield. I don't like the dark look and its obviously a rip off as they take away things and charge more. The things that I like over a RK is the vastly superior suspension, more room (Harley's always feel cramped (I'm 5-10)) and ground clearance. I just added some Rinehart slip ons. On the 111 ci engine they've made an incredible difference, in terms of noise and power.
I’ve been eyeing this bike, but I’m worried about the wind not having a windscreen and having a passenger it being too much and not be enjoyable. I don’t like the windshield I think it looks dumb.
I would not touch a Harley today, ( I own a mint condition pearl blue 03' Heritage STC) they have become a part selling company and still use chain and tensioner on most bikes. I hate shop time so I am definitely going Springfield or Chieftain and leave the Harley Davidsons overpriced breakdown bikes to someone who needs to wear a name (For example 2018 HD drill your own hole oil migration fix)
Rider with 47+ years experience, 6ft 2" / 2022 Springfield (Maroon/Red 111CI) in factory setting / Most perfect bike ever made period! I have come all the way up from 15cc / 50 cc and building, repairing, trading, exchanging, making things and all the way from relatively difficult era of post-war period where there was NOTHING and everything you've got, you got to APPRECIATE (or to make it yourself and appreciate even more) AND, I must tell you my Western friends - STOP WHINING! It bugs me a lot, HOW unappreciative you constantly seem to me, ROTTEN SPOILED by FINE things in historic West, YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN, where you came from so MAN UP, Shut Up and RIDE, Enjoy the Journey and STOP whining about things! If something is not to your liking - MAKE CHANGES, CUSTOMISE, REBUILD... THE PERFECT bike DOES NOT exist anywhere, you gotta EARN it by making it!
Some solid points and share similar thoughts of the bike. I'm thinking more about getting one. But please use a different second camera. Those transitions were rough, and I have no idea why you used them instead of just the helmet cam. It added no value and made me want to not even watch. You edited the video so not sure why you left that.
I like the brand and some of the bikes but that headlight and cowling/shroud are fugly. Sorry, but it's true. Everything on the tank combined with the headlight is a turn off-for me. Good thing we all don't like the same things. I have the softail with the 107 so I know the indian gets after it.
I love the bike itself and I thought very strongly about getting one and I still might and you did a very good review but your 180 camera sucks dude.. sorry
Back when it was still beautiful. I ride an Indian Super Chief now but that Dark horse Chief and Springfield with the big headlight and the skirted fenders is BEAUTIFUL. The latest Chieftain model is as spicy as mashed potatoes.
Yup. Style. It's a nod to bikes of yesteryear where you had to put oil in one tank and gas in the other. It also pleases OCD folks who complain about a single cap, LOL
Not really. No one ever confuses one of these for an HD Road King or vice versa. Also, there's only a limited number of ways to design/build a medium-heavy bagger cruiser. It's all been done before.
@@JA-zh5xi as the comment above me said, theres only a limited number of ways to build a heavy bagger. This is Indian's take on it, Ford made the first available car, is Chevy a cheap ripoff?
Nice nice and review but wasted 2 minutes or so on the stupid camera shot from the stick showing absolutely nothing of interest. It subtracts from an otherwise well done review.
Nah, that bike didn't seem any faster than my 08 Softail Custom. Plus, Harley looks much nicer than any Victory opps I mean, Indain . Lol . I'm running a 107 H/C V&H Exhaust intake with Woods 555 cams . Modes ? If someone needs rider aids I don't think they should be on a bike of that caliber in the 1st place . Peace ✌️
