You can really tell Anne put a lot of work into Selina's voice. It's a perfect mix of sexy, badass, and silky, and she can switch them in an instant. Bane is the highlight of Rises, but Catwoman is a close second

I love how romantic cliché are avorted : a bal, a man in suit, a woman in dress, a kiss and a beautiful song BUT : - A cynical discussion about the society. - Jokes and provocative quotations. - The man does not offer the necklace to the lady, but does exactly the opposite. - The woman steal the man's car. That is how the Batman/Catwoman/BruceWayne/SelinaKyle relationship works and that's why it's one of my favourite fictionnal love story.
I love how Bale/Wayne just stands there after the kiss. 3:00. That scene shows how big of an impact Catwomen/Kyle had on Wayne/Batman. Batman is about truth and justice, except when it comes to Catwoman. Let’s face it she had his heart

I love the silent pause after Selina said 'you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.', while Ravel's Pavane reach its note with the harp.. Magical!
Jay Nicks Everyone has their own preference, personally I loved Caine but I wish they made him a bit tougher. Like the Alfred from the comics was ex-special forces if I'm not mistaken, I think it would have been great had they incorporated that side of him too
My favorite film version of Catwoman. Has depth and I wish she had more screentime. Her dialogue is captivating and probably wouldn't have worked well without the amazing actress behind it.
NoireFox Writing's not bad, but I don't feel like this is a type of a scene you write expositional dialogue into. On the social commentary part, it feels forced, and it goes for the entire movie. As if they wanted to turn Nick Hanauer's Ted Talk into a Batman flick. BB & TDK obviously both had ideological undercurrent, but it felt more naturally interwoven into the story. Forcing themes of social justice makes me remember that "Batman is Mitt Romney with a doomsday bunker and a leather fetish". PS I don't object to the very idea of taking on serious issues in that kind of movie. I object to poor execution. Mad Max has done it brilliantly with feminism. When all is said and done in TDKR, it's clear that League's objective was to nuke Gotham, turning it into OWS utopia for a month to troll Batman feels pointless.
+NoireFox It certainly does reveal the common belief that poor people are poor because of rich people and that the poor are not responsible for their own choices. I find that poor people aren't always the ones who believe this though; it is usually the middle class kids who never held a job and live off their parents that think no one is responsible for their success. They think that its rich people's fault but fail to realize that at one time everyone was poor and there was no rich person to make them that way. Some of these poor people worked to become wealthy. Its a projection of their own guilt and feelings of worthlessness. They want to normalize their own failings by believing its just how things are for everyone and no one can escape it so they can't be to blame. Economic determinists hate seeing examples of people that change their circumstances. They don't talk about rich people who become poor through bad choices nor do they talk about poor people who become rich through good choices. Every time I speak with some college communist or liberal arts socialist, they can't think of anything to say when I inform them that I came from a single mother household on welfare and food stamps, no car, late housing payments, occaisionally shut off phone and utilities. I tell them how much money I make as a software developer while they do nothing with their intersectional gender studies degree after having had all the benefits of the american middle class to use while growing up. They completely avoid talking with me further. Instead they listen to people pander to their prejudices and enjoy speeches like the one in this video that blames rich people for the bad choice to become a thief this woman made. It is very revealing how bigotted they are.
@Stimulator7 Yuppp.. he did. the funny thing is Selina rejected him at first, she accepted Bruce's second proposal, when he asked a proposal question properly (like a guy who truly loves a woman, not asking like demanding or ordering). She rejected him once bcus she hated his principles, and she accepted him when she finally saw him changed and show his vulnerable side a bit.. I love this couple. :')

I feel like the reason Nolan's Batman trilogy was so charming is because all the heroes and villains have an actual conviction to do what they thought was right. No magic, no super power.
Of all the issues I have with this film, the Bruce/Selina scene's were not one of them, in fact I wish the film would've taken more time to develop their relationship even further. I really like the chemistry between Bruce, and Selina in this film, which is more than I can say for the Rachel character in the previous films. It's scene's like this, along with others that still make me like this film overall.
The Bruce/Rachel scenes from Batman Begins and Dark Knight were great. You could tell they really cared for another. Rachel was disappointed in Bruce when she thought he was a slacker and even after she learns he is Batman she doesn't fully approve of him, but she loves him as a friend. Bruce saw her as a soulmaye and cared about what she thought of him. He wanted to be a hero in her eyes.
This scene is beautiful! From the rose pedals falling in the background, the classy "Pavane For a Dead Princess" masterpiece playing in the background, the chemistry of the actors, all the way to the beautiful lighting and cinema-photography of Wally Pfister. Awesome!!
It kind of reminds me of that scene in the Godfather 2 where everyone is dancing and reveling oblivious to the enemy at the gates, the night when Castro's revolutionaries take control or the night that King Belshezar of Babylon is celebrating before the Persian army is let into the city and takes control.
I would wish people would stop comparing Hathaway and Pfeiffer. They played totally different versions of the character, just like Ledger and Nicholson with the Joker. Personally, I prefer this version, as Burton's is too over the top.
I liked this version, but if you're going for realism, you cannot have high heels and exposed long hair on your suit. They make you both a shitty thief and fighter. The performance was spot on, though.

Gosh, everything about this scene is perfect! Cinematography, lighting, acting, characters, humor, and music. I love how this scene is also a nod to Batman Returns. Nolan is the best!
At 1:06 If anyone is wondering the song that is being played is called Pavane (Maurice Ravel, or Arr. David Hite). Was playing this song for clarinet choir and was shocked it was in this movie never noticed it before.
oh come on guys, thats a very expensive car probably with tracker, not to mention its Batman's car basically. She just took it for a ride, and will dump it somewhere for police to collect it, just to troll Bruce a bit. Its not easy to steal and resell that type of car, people who own it are all registered. I wonder why it didn't have voice or fingerprint recognition function, real super car has that function, they dont use key anymore.

Chemistry between rhe two is perfect. Completely captures their tumultuous relationship they two have in the comics. Wish they’d done a bit better with Talia and Bruce but they nailed Selina and Bruce perfectly

Beautiful way to show the concept that unlike the “normal” superhero trope where the mask is worn to protect the true identity of the hero, in Batman’s case, Batman is the true identity and Bruce Wayne is the persona worn as a costume to protect his “true” identity... a masquerade ball is a classy way to demonstrate it.

I think the social commentary about the rich and poor was written at least in part on the back of the 'Occupy Wall Street' protests back in 2011. But yes it's still very relevant, perhaps even more so for the 2020's.
@Jason, Sorry man, but I felt nothing when watching Bale and Hathaway interact. Hathaway tends to be a wooden actress in a lot of her roles. I think the Nolan movies were the most boring Batman movies. Batman in the real world scenario is like watching an episode of Law & order. No theatrical music, no comic book-like scenery or gadgets or vehicles. Nothing felt Gothic about Gotham in the Nolan movies. I maintain the Batman '89 and Batman Returns are far superior and re-watchable.

I love the callbacks to the original Batman films with Michael Keaton. The Dark Knight had Batman and the Joker at the top of a high-rise with the Joker hanging for his life. This one had Bruce and Selina at the masquerade, just like Batman Returns.
I liked them better in Batman returns. The look on Michaels face is priceless and the music was perfect. Michelle was perfect for the role. Anne's catwoman is ok but it doesn't compare.

scenes like this are what i really like about this movie. i almost forgot i was watching a batman movie at points. it felt more like a character study than a super hero movie.
Can I just say that Anne Hathaways talent was wasted on dumb ass questions like “how do you fit into the suit?” Like this scene is amazing among all other scenes. She’s such a dynamic actor.
