I love this scene, because of how they're both introducing themselves completely. The reason Bruce shoots the arrow, instead of just saying hello, is because he already knows Selina cracked the safe. He knows he's dealing with a professional thief. So he shoots an arrow, a little too close to her head, both to get her attention, as well as say, "you're dangerous? I'm dangerous too." Then he reveals he knows she stole. Not with anger, but politeness and admiration. Selina instantly lets her real side out, showing how a nice facade doesn't mean she'll just give something back. Then she showcases what she can do. Again, Bruce doesn't call out or yell at her, he just watches, interested. It's a great first interaction between the two characters.
never thought of it that way they do have a way of meeting face to face i liked anne's take on selina her and christian had good chemistry even tho there wasn't many scenes with them together but having rewatched it i don't think there needed to be would i have preferred more scenes? yeah but nolan's batman at its core is about rising past his fears and becoming a man selina kinda seeked the same thing wanting a fresh start rising from poverty in the end they both got what they were looking for i think i like rob and zoe's interactions more having seen the new film granted i wish they had more but the chemistry was believable plus the batman is only chapter 1 where rises was the final chapter
Also ties into the fact that in the production notes for Dark Knight Rises that it is Selina who in a sense brings Bruce back into the world and that despite all of the crap that Bruce has seen and had to deal with and the losses...there are still some very interesting people in it.
Everyone talkin about Selina but gotta give it to Bruce/Bale after he says "uncrackable".. His face went from impressed with a smirk then total serious like "ok now gimme my shit back"
in the raw and realistic universe Christopher Nolan created, I think I prefer this Catwoman. She may not be like Michelle's version, but i don't need a catwoman constantly making cat puns. this catwoman has her own agendas and there's nothing wrong with that.
DAMN she was good. The way she knocked Bruce off his feet, back flipped out of that window, ripped off those white shreds and walked away like a boss. #FANTASTIC
Those three piano notes when she says "oops" are really powerful. It's every bit as playful, light, sexy, and graceful as the character it's focused on.
This scene is so amazing, 1 minute with them on screen and I instantly knew they were meant for eachother, I was happy this series got the love interest right (finally!)
Fun Fact: Anne Hathaway said in an interview that she actually jumped out of a window. And that when she went to the audition, she thought she was gonna play Harley Quinn
What's really interesting, and a testament to Anne Hathaways masterful ability as an actress, Is that I didn't find her attractive at all while she was playing the maid/waitress. She was clumsy and just gave off this really mousey, whiny vibe that made her so unattractive. But the moment she revealed her true face and became the catwoman, it was something to behold. All of a sudden she was womanly and sexy. She took off her maid gear and everything just clicked. The confidence. The posture. The walk. That smirk. It was like a completely different person. Anne Hathaway did all that. Who woulda thought.
@@davidadunola7867 Actually, hes right. Beauty is physical BUT some people (I would dare say most) are ATTRACTED by personality and body language. But attractiveness =/= beauty. You can be beautiful but if you dont know how to behave with it (being a bitch or an ahole etc.) you are not attractive at all.
I agree. MUCH better than Hallie Berry. When I first heard that Anne Hathaway was our new Catwoman, I was like "Seriously? The girl from the Princess Diaries. THAT'S who you want to be Catwoman?" but by the end of this movie, she really made me respect her as Catwoman. She had a certain elegance of being able to slip between different emotions (as we see in this scene, where she's mousy and fragile one minute and then shifts to the sexy, charming femme fatale.) and she had an undercurrent of selfless heroism that made her worthy of being Batman's lover/partner.
Didn't change at all. Still by far the best Bruce and Selina scene. The batman was mid. And Zoe is a mediocre actress. She could never pull something like that off. Plus there was 0 chemistry between her and pattinson.

The Dark Knight ended on the high note of "Batman is going to do what it takes to protect this city, even if they hate him for it". Which then leads to "nevermind, Batman instantly retired, and became an invalid. A city that is SO bad that it NEEDS Batman at all, solved all of its problems essentialyl overnight with one court case". Bullshit. The direction they took him in this movie was AWFUL. It butchered the character and I TRULY don't see why anyone prefers it, or accepts it as a proper send off to his Batman. Batman is not someone that can just 'stop'. Him stopping at the end makes some degree of sense, he is physically wiped out and met the love of his life, as well as establishing a successor. But that time gap of him doing nothing? Bane being able to wipe out a billionaires finances by hacking the stock exchange is about the stupidest idea I ever saw as well. It would never fly and was about the biggest plot hole in the movie. That's not even approaching all of the terrible fight choreography
What is more interesting is that up until the "Oooops" scene, she is playing the goofy, virgin-like "good girl" that Anne Hathaway's career built on up until TDKR. After that one word, I believe we watched how Anne and Nolan saying "fuck you" to the audience who were extremely dissatisfied by casting Hathaway as Catwoman by turning her into the sexiest and the most well written Catwoman of all time. Well played, ma'am.
@@melisagalvalizi6982 Nolan definitely never cares what other think of his casting, and always proves people wrong. I mean everyone was against Heath ledger as joker and look at how that turned out. Anne was definitely a great choice, brilliant actress.

One of the best examples of a casting I wasn't crazy about and then the actress proved me totally wrong. Great performance, Hathaway's Aces as Selina Kyle/The Cat.
Nolan has a unique way of bringing out the depth and soul in each character . You can tell he put meticulous care into cat woman's character and it shows not to mention Hathaway's dexterity and poise in her acting
Bruce Wayne didn't do background check on Selina Kyle prior because he wasn't in charge of the Dent Day event. Selina's connections to Dagget would've helped her get into the party and steal the pearls.
Not a fan of Anne Hathaway and wasn't particularly happy about her casting as Catwoman, but truth be told she totally nailed that scene, incredible transformation, very well done.
Anne Hathaway was the best part of the movie for me. And there were a LOT of great characters. Tom Hardy is awesome as Bane. Bale gives his best performance in the trilogy. Gary Oldman continued to be the best commissioner Gordon ever. But Anne Hathaway really killed it at a role at a lot of people doubted she could pull off.
Bruce Wayne is a kind of prince, three women for him in this saga: Rachel, Thalia and Selina, but only the strongest got him: Selina, again another fairytale´s reference. Nolan´s genius knows no limits.
I know, but I can definitely see the two of them with their kids, sitting on a couch, telling the story of how their thief mother stole their grandmother's pearl necklace and kicked the cane out from under their father's feet. Is it wrong to think it kind of romantic in a strange, thief-vigilante way? Beats poetry, roses and chocolates.
Al Speid Burton had way too much creative control on Batman Returns. Thing is Burton is more of a visual guy than story and character, hence the tonal inconsistencies - its unevenly silly and dark. And for a long time I thought Michelle's catwoman was the definitive version. Thankfully the nostalgia I had washed off and I grew up to more nuanced performances by Anne Hathaway and the Catwoman in the Arkham video games
Michael Otis I feel it depends on how you interpret it. Every Batman is different from the last; some a lot, some a little, but they're all different regardless. The inconsistencies in tone don't really differ too much for me. I can see it, but not enough to call it 100% difference in tones. As for Michelle as Catwoman, I loved her version, and Hathaway's own spin, but I lean more towards Michelle's version since it felt more...comic like. Plus at least both are better then the Catwoman movie's version
From making him fall to the ground in this scene to saving his life and picking him up in the climax - their journey didn’t have a lot of scenes but it was still great.
I loved her as catwoman!! She had the sass and confidence, she's an amazing actress. I think the new catwoman was kinda blah tbh. I liked her in divergent, but catwoman is a very interesting character that needs to have that emotional side as well as confidence, a touch of bad and mystique..idk.
Pretty beautiful, and glamorous the way she is in this scene, including the screenshots that weren't used in this video. Almost as much as is in her Catwoman suit.
Sad cause this movie introduced her character so well and Hathaway plays it great. But she surprisingly doesn't get that much screentime in the movie to shine.
Michelle Pfeiffer is more beautiful. But Anne's Catwoman characterisation is better. Catwoman is supposed to be intelligent and cunning, not nuthouse crazy.
