@@konradplatt3833 absolutely, but Burtons Batman movies changed hollywood. They gave Batman TAS and everything animated superhero shows related. They changed marketing, set design, world building and much much more
It was actually Raimis spiderman trilogy that put superhero movies noticed by studios as a profitable business at the box office while Nolan's movie showed that they can also be critically acclaimed
The last 20 minutes of this movie was one of the greatest cinematic moments of all time….so many emotions running in my mind back in 2012….take me back….
That's the amazing part. The hero and villains are not guys with superpowers clashing. They are just mindless psychological terrors that have been shaped by the society. Its marvelous
That's why batman is so great because he doesn't need powers to be amazing. Whenever I see Superman take down a thug I'm like "wow that was cool I guess" because the guy has so many different powers that could obliterate the guy but with batman all he has is his brain and his awesome fighting skills!
@@prateekmishra215 I mean he still is a superhero. He fights for the greater good using abilities most people don't possess and has his own superhero name/persona. That's why his movies are really great though, because it's still just a man but with a strong enough will to teach himself the means to fight injustice by himself.
You're kidding, right? Of all the films throughout Oscar history you really thing this trilogy is BEYOND the Oscars? Have you even SEEN the majority of these Best Picture-winners?
@@falkofscrum of course yes because Oscars became soo biased and it's a joke for now .. there were way much more better flims than the flim that actually got Oscars... Like Forrest gump got Oscar but Shawshank redemption was better And black panther?? Lol wtf you still think Oscar has the same image it had before?
@@abishek1910 There's an argument to be made for The Dark Knight, but number 1 and 3 mere not on the same level and not worthy of Pest Picture-nominations. There are definitely superhero movies that deserve Academy love, like Logan, Spider-Man 2 and TDK, but the entire TRILOGY? No way
I love the fact that Gordon knows Wayne is alive. He knew when he saw the Bat signal fixed. He deserved to know. Just like Fox probably strongly suspected it after they told him the autopilot was in fact fixed. So subtle and beautiful.
Stats for comic book movies ------ Highest Rotten Tomatoes score: Spider-Man Into The Spider-verse (97%) Highest metacritic score: Black Panther (88%) Most Oscars: Black Panther (3) Highest box office: Avengers Endgame Most popular character: Spider-Man & Batman Most psychologically complex character: Moon knight
Alfred smiling at bruce was the favorite scene for me ofc but it was also a little wholesome touch that selina was with him and actually wearing bruces moms pearl necklace making it official.
I just realized.... Alfred is about to pay with his credit card, but the moment his sees Bruce he puts his credit card back in his wallet and leaves, because he already knows Bruce owns the fcking place.... what a legend
@@TheTalk23 I think most people assumed Bruce died sometime during the five-month siege of Gotham; probably one of the countless rich people "exiled" in the frozen river.
To this day I come back and get emotional. This is how you end a trilogy. This is what made me fall in love with Christopher Nolan. From Batman begins to Oppenheimer nothing but masterpieces.
Me too! I remember watching these movies when I was 7 or 8 years old. These films were my first superhero films, and I've loved Batman ever since. But watching after so many years, understanding all the emotions in these movies, I AM BLOWN AWAY!
He isnt qlive, it's Alfreds imagination. This was a reference to something he said earlier in the movie. Bruce is dead. Edit: God fricking damnit guys. After a whole fucking year i return to this piece of garbage of a comment section. No, im not a dumb piece of shit, and no just because an actor outside and years after the movie aired says its THEIR pespective that bruce is alive doesnt make it a goddamn fact. Ive seen this movie many times since and now i also rather tend to the alive side, but some of you all just cant let their little ego be damaged by a different opinion! Learn how to discuss a movie properly without calling the other side a dumb piece of shit or go f*ck yourself!
I love the cuts at the end between the cafe and Blake exploring the cave. It was so fulfilling that Batman was able to find a worthy successor and Bruce Wayne got to live a peaceful happy life. And the music building up... especially when Blake was surrounded by bats, mirroring the scene in Batman Begins.
My grandfather passed away two years ago and we loved watching this movie. I tend to envision him noticing me the same way Alfred does Bruce and I’m happy and moved on.
I love that the ending focuses on the 4 men who came together to mourn the loss of Bruce Wayne. To the one who needed a new way to fight he left his tools and resources. To the one who honored batman as his friend and ally, he left a way to reach out to his successor. To the one who created his gadgets he left nothing but the knowledge that was already there for him to figure out he was alive. And to the one who was his foundation and supporter every day of his life, he made their dream of seeing him safe and happy come true. Just beautiful writing and direction.
@@ariathgames6068 He said earlier in the film, that he dreamed he would see Bruce there with his wife and they wouldn't exchange words but they would both know, at that that moment, that he made it.
Having Selina by his side is so batman no hard feelings just pure determination through the whole movie what a film what a trilogy hats off to everyone who made these possible
"I had a fantasy, that I would look across the tables and see you there, with a wife, maybe a couple of kids, you wouldn't say anything to me, nor me to you, but we both know that you have made it, that you were happy"
@@kwameadu0075 That's not possible lol. There would have been an indication if that was the case + plus we even see Catwoman / Kyle with Batman on the table.
@@BubblesZap agreed, irons was fantastic but Caine worked great with this Batman, really carried the weight of his parents death with him. I love Jeffrey wright but Gary Oldman had this frantic energy to him that I just loved, and he was playing Sirius black at the same time and I still struggle to see how they’re the same man, such an amazing actor
Probably one of the most iconic endings, just inspirational. I saw this in IMAX with my wife when it came out. Seeing Bruce rise up and overcome and finally have redemption and that clarity to be free was so great. He could finally live a life in happiness and not regret or vengeance for his father and mother. You got the sense that he could finally be happy and enjoy life .
She is thick beautiful and taste like honey..There are many gods but everything plans out the way the one god means it to.Man can come into world with everything and leave it all to have peace..Maturity and courage.. Alchemy at it's finest
The way he answered it seems like showing how ironic the people of Gotham can be. Batman has been doing so much for Gotham, but the people want to hunt him down throughout the movies. Then he 'died' for the city and all of sudden he is their hero, even though he always is before he made such sacrifice...
its what bruce and gordon wanted...bruce does not need to be given credit...they wanted batman to be that symbol for inspiration good and change and they accomplished it ....i like how he lets blake know this when hes so upset...
He planned his endgame almost from the time Fox introduced him to the Bat aircraft. He was tired of being the Batman and took Alfred's wish to heart...to have a new life.
My son is 8months old now, i can t wait for the day when i ll share this movie with him. This is the best superhero trilogy ever made. I don’t think that there will ever be another superhero trilogy that will be able to top the dark knight!
Alfred took care of Bruce Wayne since he was A little boy being with him for all these years Alfred felt like A father figure to him, Then at Fake funeral that was planned by Bruce Wayne Alfred truly believed that Bruce Wayne was dead. So Alfred goes to the place where him and Bruce Wayne used go to for A morning drink as he's getting everything back into order through his wallet, He looks up O. M. G. Alfred's heart came back to life right in front of him there's Bruce Wayne sitting at another table so now Alfred knows the boy who he took care of all his life is OK he's just vacationing for A short while.
@@justinl.shults7217 I agree with most of it but the coffee place is not a place they used to go to together. It is a place in Florence, Italy, where Alfred goes on vacation every year. When Bruce was gone for many years Alfred kept imagining running into Bruce there, knowing that he had finally retired and found peace.
Yea same here but i am glad i did not watch it at the times, because my own idiotic self at the time only cared about action only and never cared about story, so i would have been bored as hell 😅 but i was a different guy back then lol but this trilogy is amazing! 🔥 And sorry to bug you, but ur very gorgeous ❤️
@@ariantaghdiri7937 because interacting with him could have inadvertantly tied Bruce to his past. Bruce was starting a new life, completely leaving behind his old one. Alfred was a part of that old life, and so Alfred knew that approaching Bruce, even in front of strangers, would have endangered all of that. Sure they were strangers, but Alfred loved Bruce too much to take that risk.
I was going through a divorce at the time. The woman was a narcissist did everything to tear me down. But when this movie came out and i went to see it to get my mind off things. This gave me so much strength just this scene alone. To know that life will always be hard and unforgiving. But we can still rise... up. To strive when it seems to dark to see. To not give up on the world just cause one tries to ruin yours because their's has always been ruined....... you will become what you need to be ... A Dark Knight. .. .. .. .. .. (also Zimmer score is so badass)
with each note, in the increasing force of Zimmer's music, and in each image that leads us to the final credits, the heart races with emotion and melancholy.
I love how the ending shows that Alfred did the opposite of Fail. He finally succeeded. Bruce is able to live the life he wishes and is happy, he kept his promise to Martha and Thomas.
Whats better is that Bruce has at last able to get up from his fall and free himself from that dark well by himself, that he at last is able to free himself from the bat that has haunted him since his childhood and is able to become a normal person at last.
But why did Alfred not go to Bruce to say hello? I mean he could have been an uncle to Bruce's Kids or so.. I dont understand why they wouldn't wanna spent time together
I love how after Alfred sees Bruce he immediately leaves as that’s all he was there for not the drink or the restaurant but a hopeful wish to see Bruce one more time
I grew up in Taiwan, so Robin was not really my legal name. My first English name was Steve I think. My parents really like the Robin character in the 1995 batman movie, and they changed my English name afterward. Imagine my excitement when I was watching this scene in the theatre.
What I love about this movie is it leaves us wanting more and asking questions about the ending. Nolan is a master of that in his films. He lets people think in his movies. Wish we have more writers/directors like that
When Alfred sees him, he puts his credit card back in his wallet, knowing that Bruce already paid for his meal. It's also amusing to think that maybe *Bruce owned the entire restaurant* anyway
I have watched the entire trilogy countless times. The dedication of CN is unbelievable, he has made the most powerful and appealing superhero movie ever. I always wish i could have watched this in theatre😢
Ah, I share your pain. I didn't watch this in the movies because I was a fool. I wish they would show it again... I did watch the first two but missed out on the most epic one.
@@lookherelooklisten7850 Likely changed his name, or had an account set up in another name, likely then had his wealth transferred to that "person" in his will and testament, or purchased a ton of shares from his own company and got big payouts.
It also gets me when Gordon turns around smiling. He is all happy because he expects to see Bruce again like "any moment now!", not knowing he will never see him again
In his own subtle way, Bruce let all his friends know that he is alive. Fox with the software patch, Gordon with the fixed searchlight, Blake with the batcave instructions. But Alfred is the only one who got to see him, making true Alfred's dream/fantasy. It is the perfect ending to the trilogy.
Although i still wish for Christian Bale to return as the Batman, i can't refuse that this is maybe the best ending for the character that i have ever seen. Thank you Mr Nolan for giving us the Dark Knight trilogy.
This was the perfect ending. I'm so happy the studio didn't make another sequel or spin off to ruin it. Back when warner bros actually made good decisions and didn't interfere and ruin franchises.
What I don't understand is why they don't put whoever was in charge of this trilogy in charge of all their movies, or at least try to copy this style instead of trying to copy marvel, which they suck at copying marvel.
@HI EVERYBODY with their track record right now I can only hope they don't make a robin spin off, not after wonder women 2, that was the worst fillm in history, I didn't even spend any money on it or ever watch the full thing, but just knowing how bad and cringy it is....... No DC can not be trusted right now.
@HI EVERYBODY go ahead an say it dude..... Embarrass yourself and ruin any credibility you could have and say that wonder women 2 wasn't awful. Hey I'm a big fan of wonder women, wonder women 1 was ok not like a classic that I would watch again but it was good. Yeah DC hires new mangers and directors all the time and it's painfully obvious that they were trying to copy marvel and failed, they should stick with darker, more complex themed movies that shadow the comics like batman did.
Never. Give. Up. Batman knows what it's like to give it everything he's got even when there's no credit, no gratitude, no respect. He keeps fighting for the people he loves. He never gave up.
I was 10 years old when I saw batman begins in theaters, 13 for Dark knight and 17 for the final in theaters. Im almost 30 now and this trilogy hasnt been topped!
I watch this to remind me what great scenes/endings could be and how movies can make people feel when done properly. The best ending to any trilogy. I’ll die on that hill.
I like to think he got up and left to go back to gotham knowing that Bruce had a plan for everyone back there and that he had work to do. Alfred was probably to help the orphans at the Wayne estate and would probably end up helping Blake take up the mantle of either Batman or Robin
Alfred Pennyworth was a Special Air Services soldier during World War 2, who also has experience working with British Intelligence. As shown in the limited series Pennyworth, he met Thomas and Martha Wayne in England when they tried to start a private intelligence service similar to the one from the movie series, the KIngsman. Not so unusually today since you do have ex special forces and intelligence officers starting their own private security and intelligence companies.
@@Suuulan And I think it is perfect the way it was done. Bruce along with Selina, living together after all this. It is just so comforting and satisfying.
I always loved that Bruce and Selina get together and become a couple at the end of this movie. I always hate when people say that Catwoman is a villain. She isn't! Selina is a good person at heart, and Bruce deserves to be with her. That's why I always hate whenever they dont marry each other and become a couple in the comics and tv shows.
In the first Batman comic book that was how they called him "The Batman." So I think its a tribute to the original comic, but yeah also indicating that he is a legend.
I think it was to avoid him being a superhero called "Batman." Remember it was supposed to be a more realistic telling of the story, so it would make sense that he hadn't really been named, he was just "the bat man"
