Dzumeister yeah, but that slight smile he had as he was discussing Joe Chill makes me think it wouldn’t be a good fit. But then again, it’s just one line
Cillian Murphy doesn't even come close to being a credible Batman, or Bruce Wayne. I don't know how he even made it that far into the process. He was pretty good as Scarecrow though.
Kirsty he’s in nearly every Christopher Nolan film. He was also a good guy in 28 Days Later and I’m pretty sure there’s others where he’s not a villain.
his Batman voice really had the traditional Kevin Conroy edge though. I think he could've definitely pulled off Batman, not sure about Bruce Wayne though. then again this was just a screentest, it's very often the actors act differently in movies then their screen test performance
I respectfully disagree. He is a good actor, but he is smaller than Bale. He looks like a big toddler - a bit creepy, but not fearsome. I see why they use a lot of bottom foreshortenings with him.
🎶 Lil Bane comin at ya, don't you look me in the eye Best get the sprinklers ready cuz the fire gon' rise Don't tell me bout darkness I was born in that shit The Bat thought he was boss til I threw his ass in the pit🎶😎
Mr. Movie Mafia Not the beginning of the movie, but likely the mid part where he’s in the Pit. I believe they shot those scenes first. Then Bale probably shaved it down to the goatee for the beginning scenes, then went clean shaven for the rest of the time.
0:48 I believe the "Swear to me!" interpretation from Bale got him the job. You got the extremely suppressed anger layer that the others lacked and Bale expressed perfectly.
I think it's just the whole Batman persona voice really. He's got the whispery, mysterious growl when wearing the cowl, while the others are basically using their normal voice.
@@legendver2 Before Bale when was Batman's voice ever whispery and mysterious? Arguably the most iconic iteration of it is Conroy's and that's not whispery at all, it's actually extremely clear and authoritative.
@@Nefariousbig the point is both Keaton's and Conroy's voices for Bruce and Batman were clearly different. Bale carried that same distinction, they just all have different ways of making Batman's voice distinct from Bruce's. The other actors are basically talking like Bruce in a mask, and not as Batman.
Let me get this... The guy who was cast as the Scarecrow, was first proposed to be Bruce Wayne/Batman? Everyday you learn a lot of new stuff... Fun never stops.
Cilian Murphy's natural face expressions make it impossible for him to not play a sinister character. He is a natural at being the villian. Thats not a bad thing. Look at Christopher Lee and Glenn Close. Amazing actor and actress, but always play the villian!
He was still big from being in brosnan(I’m pretty sure that’s what it was called) he shaved his head for that too. He pretty much kept his body the same from that one
Because they hired bad directors (Snyder, Ayer etc...) Nolan is talented director and one of the best working directors today. I trust Matt Reeves will give us awesome Batman.
Benjamin Bertrand Yes, finally someone who gets it! As good as an actor as Cillian is his pale skin helps to accentuate his pink lips which give off that vibe. It’s all wrong for Batman. Even if he gained weight his eyes would still give off a creepy vibe not quite a dark one.
@@johnniecinco6698 Which, TBH, is an argument I'm surprised more people don't bring up with Keaton's Bruce Wayne, who is the only person in Gotham with those lips...... ( -^^- )
Bale is one of the better Bruce Waynes we've had imo. The best batman is probably... Batfleck I think. Not sure where I put Keaton tbh. I think he was better as Bruce Wayne than as batman, but still not as good as Bale.
@@kanskejonasidag1 Batfleck was terrible. Folks rank him high because of one scene, the warehouse in BVS. But that was 90% stuntman. That scene would have worked just as well with pretty much anyone in the suit. The problem is Affleck has a weird shaped body. He's got a huge torso with short, stubby T-Rex arms and a melon head. Because of that his batsuit looked like the puffy coat the little brother wore to school in A Christmas Story.
superior 7 It was the hair. She was way too prim and proper looking in TDKR to be Catwoman. She would have been better as Talia. The wild hair really cements the Catwoman look and they should have stuck with it
@@_LilRascal_ i notice a difference in her suit too. it's more like open upper chest leather than zip leather in finished movie. Yeah her hair look too good for a burglar
Nolan told him to get as big as he can, because he got so skinny after shooting the previous movie The Machinist, Bale took the words literally, Nolan have no idea he can get as big as he did in such short time, one of the camera staff actually said, "Are we shooting Batman or Fatman?" lol.
Lol how the hell does someone not know they’re so gangly and goofy looking that they actually think the studio would say “yes!!! Yes!!! Put that skinny pale no chin guy in a batsuit now! Send everyone else home, we got our guy”
The Shredder alright mate, why’re u hating the guy over his looks of all things. Regardless of how ‘creepy’ he looks he’s still getting roles back to back :/
« Gangly and goofy » is not how I would describe Tommy Shelby. Murphy can play intimidating characters. That said, they did get the casting right when Bale ended up playing Batman and Murphy played The Scarecrow instead.
God, Anne Hathaway is PERFECT as Catwoman in these clips. Straight off the comic book page, especially the classic Jim Balent era when she had her solo series in the 90s.
More like they are the best in both roles but bales is good in both roles (when both are bad in the other role). So it was definitely the right choice with the selection
-If you are seriously considering going back down there on the recommended section, you should hear the rumours surrounding youtube -I m all hears -There is a data-server in a more ancient part of the world, a black hole, where videos are thrown to suffer and age, but sometimes a video rises from the darkness, sometimes the hole sends something back.
Batman.. Born and raised in gotham city Born in a shit hole? No one knows why or if he's batman But they do know, that he was the best batman ever made Bale was the best batman? And then he was replaced. By ben Affleck And any man who's more extreme than bale. Is not to be trifled with
Cillian Murphy as Bruce / Batman would have been awesome in it's own way. Just by those few screen tests you can see he would have given us a very unhinged Batman. A turn off for some, but I think it would be interesting to see a more unhinged and crazy Batman. But you can see why he was picked for Scarecrow instead.
That's also a very early Bruce, probably the one that in the final film took a gun to the courthouse. He sells that anger well. I just don't think he had the jawline for the role. His Batman voice is phenomenal.
Cillian Murphy would be a great Batman and Bruce Wayne nowadays. He was too young then, but now that his face and voice has matured he’d be a great fit
I don't mind Cillian Murphy playing Batman at all. Dude is a great actor, put on more weight and muscle like he did for Peaky Blinders, he'd be a great Batman imo
Lol, after you've seen Bale's "Swear to me!" everyone else's delivery just sounds laughable, no offence to the other candidate whoever he is. Also, 2:54 Bale was really stunningly handsome there.
Bale got the Batman\Bruce Wayne acting right! Murphy got the Batman voice! Bailey got the Bruce Wayne and Batman face (just like the comics and games) If there was an actor got them all just like Ben Affleck but with better writting, we'll be happy! Like William Dafoe, he is a live-action\comic Joker we haven't seen yet! '_'
@@GNplayer1 Yeah I think Dafoe is the perfect actor for Joker but i don't understand it that nobody in the Warner Studios had an idea for a movie with him.
@@punchforpound2808 Dude she is absolutely terrible. The only bad thing about a near perfect movie. She just can't act - I don't even know how she got the part. Seriously, basically ANY actress can do a better job. You know when like EVERY line feels forced?
