Haven't watched since Capaldi's last season, as far as I'm concerned the funeral was years ago, didn't watch the specials because it feels like a memorial service years after the actual funeral, I'm well past mourning and just to indifference.

I can honestly say I thought the show should have ended after chibnall left. But these specials have have proven to me that there is hope for the show yet!

Disney are not involved in the making of Doctor who. They just bought the rights to stream the show outside the U.K. and now the rest of the world can now watch it if they have Disney plus. When tne 60th was being made the Disney company had not made a deal with the BBC to stream DR Who. So the blame is solely on the BBC who are a very woke company trying to appeal to the younger generation of fan. When the younger generation do not really watch the BBC. They just end up offending the very people who watch the BBC which are the middle aged people and the older people. As the RTD1 era is considered the best of DR Who and the fall in rating to the show they brought back RTD and gave him fall control to do what ever he wanted to do with the show. He first asked if he could do the 60th and if he could do it with David and Catherine back in the show once they confirmed he could do it they offered him to stay on after the 60th. So we can’t blame Disney for anything to do with the 60th or the next series.

As one of my old companies said as they were selling my division (and a bunch of others) off to "focus on their core business", we all joked that their "core business" was of "going out if business", which in the long run was basically true - the got bought by another company that basically kept the (fairly well known in that industry) "brand name" to put on their own products and eviscerated the rest of it. The only hope for DW at this point is to get cancelled and maybe come back again after another decade+ hiatus by someone who actually cares about it.

To be fair David has been a huge fan for his entire life and always regretted how his term ended, so him clinging on isn’t so far fetched. I still hate that they ruined him, but I can at least still watch the 9th and 10th doctor and never watching these.

Ironic really. David regretting how his term ended? I have not heard of him mentioning that anywhere. I thought myself at the time that he was leaving too early, he should have done five years at least like Pertwee, there was plenty of time for him to do other things. I thought he might come to regret going. But he was eager to get out and break America with his turn in Fright Night and Rex is not my lawyer, all of which never really worked out. I knew he was leaving far too soon as the show was at its height of popularity and what Moffat would have done with him as the Doctor would have been good. As it stands now that first season of Mat Smith and just Amy is one of the best as well, just the two of them in time and space and room enough for them both to get good screen time. For the last few years I have often thought that Doctor Who has been used as a springboard for the Doctor and companion to try to get into films in the States and the only one its really worked out for is Karen Gillan...

Well, discounting the Whittaker and Chibnall years, not to mention Capaldi’s last year.

We can keep it alive on the secondary market. And by that I mean The Classics. The good stuff that we have on DVD. We can make our own fan conventions, our own Merch. To. Heck with the tripe the BBC is spewing out, it’s not Who. Watch classic Who with your friends and family, with your kids. Raise them on the good stuff. The new shite will fade into obscurity, remembered only for destroying its own legacy..But not the legacy of the classics. Same with Star Wars, Classic Disney films, Classic marvel Films, classic Hollywood blockbusters… We have all these classics, they haven’t gone away. They haven’t gone anywhere. We can ignore the new shite, don’t buy it, don’t watch it. Keep the classics alive. We don’t beat the New Hollywood culture by just complaining about it, but by BECOMING the New Culture we Want to see.

I think it’s a cult and hence RTD doesn’t need to be told what to do, he is already perfectly attuned with the religion to simply do it out of loyalty. That said, yes, the future AI will obviously be trained by the current generation of writers to be excessively woke beyond previously seen levels. Could be the age of hyper woke I always predict when people say that woke is ending.

I suggested in another comment section about AI and tv scripts, that all the classic Who and nuWho (minus the current rubbish - decided by fans) episodes be input into an AI programme to see what it would produce as a new Dr. Who script. Hell, could it be any worse than what we're now experiencing?!

I agree that AI as an assistant is potentially a good thing. The bad thing hits when the generated results are accepted uncritically.The last decade's writing for comics and TV has really declined, so if a good writer prompts an AI with a premise and edits/revises/augments the generated output everyone will win. But when the AI isn't supervised the output can be quite bad. This has happened most often in generated images. So far.

DVD box sets of the original series and classic films are available for purchase, and everyone can still watch them, share them with friends and raise whole new generations of fans on them from a young age.
