The Dark Side of Rental Properties: Nightmare Cleanup 

Without a doubt, this year will be worse than the last. I lost a lot of money last year as a result of bad investment choices that I would not have made if I hadn't been so worried about my portfolio. I kept investing, but I couldn't determine whether to start paying for a house. In the end, I sold my positions, and the house needed more work than I had planned. I'm not sure how long I can keep going like this

It's disgusting that, not only did a family with what looks to be young children, lived in that, but that they left someone elses property in that state. When we had our kitchen remodled, my sister made sure that all of the kitchen cupboards were thoroughly washed out, even though they were already clean. Marie, Fefe and the other lady, you are all troopers for doing that clean ❤❤ 'Man Cave' thats a laugh! even caves are cleaner and much, much less smelly than that!.

I just can't wrap my head around anyone living like that!!! I've seen lots of houses get trashed when people get forclosed on or evicted, but that takes the cake🍰 full of roaches!!!🤢🤮 And I'm just ill thinking that a baby👶🏼 lived in that mess. If an adult chooses to that's one thing, but a baby had no choice. And where is Family Social Services on intervening for the baby's well-being??? God help her/him🙏🏻 Not to mention the adults need prayer too, they need serious help. You 3 ladies are Rockstars!!!

I can’t believe you had a renter like that. I’ve had renters for over 20 years and have never had a renter like this! I think I would just die or hire someone else to do it. But I also understand it’s too costly to do that. You are one tough cookie!!

Years ago my ex and i almost bought a big house that looked amazing outside...when we got inside, we were told there were 20 cats and 10 dogs living in it...gorgeous furniture but wood floors and walls were a mess...it smelled so bad we didn't buy it because it would need gutting....listed for $250,000 sold for $60,000 on auction 😢

I open all the cabinets and leave for over night...then I open all the windows for afew hours before going in the next day...😮❤😮

I have an older house on my property that I use for storage. I had thought about fixing it up to rent out, but you have change my mind. I really feel for you.

OMGOSH!! I used to work at an exhaust factory. I made the inside parts to mufflers. We wore those suits all the time. And I was always writing stuff on them. Like does not play well with others. Seeing back of the suit just brought back all kinds of memories.

Marie my roachex is Wayne and his girlfriends that he had when we were together are Cindy and Elaine. We were married 25 years when we seperated . He is a real piece of work. This house reminds me of what my relationship with him was like a pure disaster that makes you sick. Those suits will cook you we had to wear them when I worked for Bayliner boats in the fiberglass.

Respirator............ which you should also be able to find in the paint section that would have liked eliminated some actually a lot of it hopefully you don't experience this again but just in case I would try a respirator if this ever happens again I love you guys I don't know how you did this God bless you❤

Great video, Ladies! The empathy flows! I have seen comments from the former tenant and her sidekick, and have to say it was probably a big mistake advertising her restaurant. I doubt anyone seeing the inexcusable, deplorable condition of that house would ever step foot, much less have a desire to eat at that place. It really is sad. THAT is not living.

Girl, as a former apartment manager, I get you on renters and what some people live like, and the disrespect for others' property. It is unimaginable unless you have to do this.

We had a rental and you can find out how nasty and unappreciated people can. We ended up tearing our house down. Relatives want to live there free, very aggravated. People get mad with you about you property. Love y'all Marie, the farm and videos.

I also worked at a factory painting railroad cars. It was about a mile from sewer treatment plant and the days the wind blew just right we were happy to have to wear our respirators and paint suits. Anything to stop the odor. 😂

You all need to go out and do something together after this, this was definitely team building. Not even the mice could live in there!!!

This is the very reason I sold the extra house property. People are nasty. Plus, they skip out and not pay their rent. And it cost even more to clean up their mess & bugs, mice. And sometimes dead pets. People have no respect or shame. Much less common decency.

I see cleaning won out over chickens! As a nurse that had to do some very unpleasant clean ups, wound care, and post mortem cares, I learned to carry a small vial of orange essential oil. Orange worked the best as it was not overwhelming but very effective. I would share it too with other nurses and we put a drop on the inside of our mask and it helped so very much. I could eat and clean poop at the same time after a while, but vomit...nope! I hate to vomit, and hate it worse when someone else does... So I highly recommend you try the orange oil, or whatever one that works for you. Just something clean about the orange smell that kept us from gagging... That is one gross mess. Shameful of humans to live like that and leave it for someone else to clean up. Were they hoarders? I can't understand hoarders or people so filthy like that. Why??? God's already taken care of my ex...but thanks for the offer!

Opening the windows might help get some of the stench out. When renting, weekly inspections are required, if they’re home or not, in the rental agreement including a clause they agree to rental termination and eviction if they refuse. 🤦🏼‍♀️

(I suggest not to use your favorite cologne, as you might associate the bad smell with it.) When renting, have required weekly inspections until you are assured they will care for you expensive property, but always check once a month, if they’re home or not. In the rental agreement a clause They are terminating the rental agreement if they refuse an inspection and will leave in two weeks. 💁🏼‍♀️

I couldn't believe that they tried to justify why they hadn't kept the house clean. You keep it clean for yourself, not let it get a trash pile and then say it was because they knew they wouldn't get their bond back. How did they think that letting them back in to clean up would make any difference? There is dirty and then there is filthy. I cant imagine the thought of them handling people's food in a cafe. I am surprised they haven't poisoned customers, with their cleaning standards. I think you need to write this one off, Maree. Just empty it out and sell it. Let someone gut it and try to make it livable again.

Where they just painted over everything. We ended up having to move because we got really sick from living in that house. It’s just sooo disgusting that people live like that.

Fog at night when the bugs are more active. A woman in St Louis set so many off in her apartment she blew it up.

All furniture that is worth saving could be power washed. (heavy duty degreaser with bug spray mixed in, and then the power washer soap) That kitchen table, baby bassinet are worth something to be saved after power washing. That is a beautiful house. I can imagine how it would be all cleaned up. How long and how many showers do you take afterwards? Would floor scrapers help? Hardcore push brooms? How many people were squatting in that house? We are all here for the good, the bad and ugly, but this UGLY is the worse I could imagine. Must have been some true demonic forces in that home.

There may be rat nests in those walls or attic or under the floor. I learned that from the show about hoarders.

That floor was carpeted. I thought it was bare wood, I was thinking you already removed that carpet. Was that pail full of mice poison? All I can say is you women are INCREDIBLE!! Did they just throw their cigarette butts on the floor? How long did they live there? This is unbelievable!! Naming the cockroaches after ex's was perfection - mine would be Kevin.

I used to have 8 rental properties. I cleaned them up and SOLD them ALL !! Renters don't give a crap. They have nothing in the game.

i am so sorry you all have to clean their dirty crap,, sorry they did that to your house,, good call on the coveralls,, what also might help with mattresses, the are plastic cover sheets like a super giant trash bag for the mattress, for just moving so it dont get dirty when moving, but you use for very soiled mattresses too,, you were brave and bad ass,, i personally would a contracted that job out.. great video,, sorry that happened i hope you can compensated for the damage..

Just a thought of something I learned being a Realtor....I don't know the laws there in Oklahoma, but here in Indiana if meth had been cooked in a house the contaminants are so toxic that it's required the house be striped down to its studs!! Drywall and all have to go. I guess the chemicals leach through paint..even kilz. It's worse than the 4-letter word in Real Estate called MOLD, LOL!!!Obviously, I have No Idea if that went on in that house and not suggesting that it did. Just food for thought. Ladies I feel for you. I just had a rental cleaned that wasn’t really that bad but it was close. It was so bad I was ashamed to hire someone to clean it. But I broken arm and double knee replacement kept me from doing it. I did bug bomb it twice that helped some. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
