John Casablancas was even worse than the description of this video. I met him once, in a very brief encounter. To the time of his death he had business partners who were owners and directors of regional franchises. These were mostly involved with modeling classes and catalogue assignments and casting for television advertisements. John Casablancas used to visit these Elite franchise agencies for the purpose of interviewing candidates for runway assignments in Milan. His main objective, for these visits, was to choose trainee models for grooming in New York City and eventual transfer to Milan. I never heard about runway assignments in any other city. The focus was always "Milan". In the mid 1990s a number of parents of very young girls who had been taken to Milan tried to file criminal charges against John Casablancas and his associates because their daughters had disappeared from the city of Milan, and could not be located, anywhere. The truth which came out, in a very limited way, was that girls who had been transferred to Milan as Elite runway models, had been "loaned out" to some of the wealthiest persons of Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. I knew, and a few others knew, that these girls had been fed drugs, as preparation for use as sex partners for wealthy friends and clients (of John Casablancas and his colleagues). I have wondered how it was possible that this information was ever kept from the general public. What most people read and heard about John Casablancas was that he had a "15 year old girlfriend". Why and how it was kept quiet, that he was directly involved in the drugging and prostituting of girls younger than his girlfriend, I cannot explain. He was the worst of criminals, and somehow was never charged with anything. His relationship with a fifteen year old girl, horrible as this was, was only one part of his criminal lifestyle.
I remember that. There was a very beautiful girl that was flying to Milan over our High School break to see John Casablancas. She ended up DEAD from a car accident where allegedly drugs were involved. She NEVER did drugs. We ended up doing a $$ collection so that her mother could get her body home to Pennsylvania.
I think this is the plot of Sound of Freedom. A girl I follow watched the movie and told me it was about a top model agency trafficking little kids that they were supposed to be training. And she said that one of the adult models looked like Naomi Campbell.
I was an model for Elite in Dallas in the early 90’s and guess what? I accidentally spilt wine on John Casablancas at the Dallas premier party. Ooops.. I neve worked for them again. After that I was mainly an actress and singer in musical theatre. But yeah, I was that girl who spilt wine on him. He was NOT HAPpy! It was awful then…. But.. kind of …. (Fill in the blank ) now. Love to all! RIP John! Sorry for being so clumsy. I was young.
@@su5329 yes. Rich men want the most beautiful women. It feeds their ego. The supermodels are the top. So they get offered very high sums of money to be with those men. It's way more common than people realize
If you follow the bread crumbs Casablancas, Jean Luce Brunell, Epestein, Maxwell, Nygard, Weinstein, Hefner, Gerard Marie, etc...you see a pattern of predators preying on the dreams of young women. I dressed models at quite a few shows in NYC ,back in the late 80's thru mid 90's, and I made a pledge too never tell what I saw backstage, but you hit some things squarely on the head with this vid. I mean "supermodels" being kidnapped, drugged, and raped, and some women dying under suspicious circumstances. You can't make this stuff up. Crazy.
@rosapasquale8179 Absolutely not! I had no clout or dominion over any of the goings-on, in any of the companies I worked for.I was hired as a designer to work, get my projects in on time and mind my business. It was the 90s and you could, and would be "black listed," meaning you would never get another job in your field, because if there was even a whiff of a person being "difficult" you were fired! And before the internet, word of mouth, destroyed many peoples lives and careers.
@@shellyjohnson333 Ehh one of the first “supermodels” as far what we think of today.. Gia, Beverly Johnson, and a couple other women from the 70’s started to intertwine international fame, and entertainment into the fashion/model industry… before the 70’s most models were pretty tame and all had to fit the same boring criteria everybody was used to seeing or wanted to see at that time
It's still very creepy disturbing dark world within the fashion industry , especially among young vulnerable minors recruited from poor desperate situations
I worked for a fashion photographer, as an assistant. I was based in Milan when the BBC Mcintyre Undercover turned the World around. At the Time, journalists from all countries came to dig deep in modelling industry in Milan. Milan was " a swimming pool full of sharks", Where "New faces"(aged 11 to 17teen) were sent to succed or made in pieces. I witnessed many girls crying, because they were forced by their agencies to eat for free in some shady restaurants, Where pack of golden boys harrased them to have sex. In the '80s in Milan, model Terry Broome killed a stalker millionnaire son, who treated her as a prostitute because she refused his sexual assaults. Public opinion took her side, both Terry and her stalker were high on cocaïne, like all this golden boys. Supermodels could get help and retire for "rehab". I was worry about teenagers models, new comers who were in quantity, stored in shady rooms with 5/6 bunk beds, tiny bathroom. One model from Israël was desperate to get her passeport back, but her agency refused because she had to pay the money invested on her career, i phoned the Israël consulate and get in touch with a Friend(lawyer). Unfortunately predators were every Where, i was at Milan international airport, i went to the police office, because Suisse Airline Lost my bagages(desk was closed at midnight). A model agency employee, that i knew, came in with two Twins sisters from Prague(13teen years old), she explained that the girls were left at 8 a.m. in front of the agency, they contacted the consulate who paid the flight tickets. But the girls scouted in Prague by an Italian "Fake models scout", Marco, who brang them to Milan in his appartement and kept in réclusion for a week, the agency employee said to the cops " You can imagine the abuse they lived in this predator hands and his Friends" Neither her, the consulate, the seven cops took the Child abuse seriously. The girls were scared and hugging eachothers strongly, i was the only one in shoked. Then the agency Woman asked if the cops could gave the girls some sandwiches and coffee because they didn't eat since 8 a.m. to midnight, shamefull the agency didn't offered even a sandwiche. Michael Gross "Top Model, the ugly business of beautiful women" is a must, he wrote about Brunel, Gérald Marie abusing Christine Boster (15teen), John Casablancas and Stéphanie Seymour (14teen) and two models invited by Jack Nicholson to a party in Roman Polanski Paris appartement, they ran away when they realized that the other girls were "very very youngs". Brandi Quinones (14teen) lived in Brunel(her agent) appartement for 3 years, he introduced her to cocaïne and alcool. Estelle Lefebvre refused Brunel sexual harrassement, he told her "Finished, your career is over", he was wrong, he stalked all models, supermodels and New faces. Such an evil. Brunel got "Epsteined" while incarcerated in a "VIP" section of "la Santé" prison in Paris. No working vidéo caméra, no prison guards, no witnessed. Good report on "Héroïne Chic" who destroyed many models, Amy Wesson assigned in court by her Elite booker, because she was so tired by héroïne habits, that she couldn't honour her modelling jobs/contracts.
@@amritpalkaur404 Milano da bere started in the 80s, when américan model Terry Broome killed her sexual harraser, a millionnaire son who choosed his victims by looking at Vogue Italia pages. But you are right because the Milano da Bere never stopped, it was already drug fuelled parties in the 80s, it got worst in the 90s. Fernanda Lessa, a brazilian model, was arrested back then for international drugs trafics (cocaïne) and active part in human traficking (escorts).
@@amanielwolde Since you worked in this industry, may I ask why there is an obsession with these kind of aesthetics, considering also the Balenciaga scandal.
@@amritpalkaur3188 Balenciaga scandal shows that even a serious fashion House can turn into a mess when the "créative crew" and the management have no bouanderies. They apologized mentioning a "provocative" point of view (seriously ?!), I think that they used provocation, transgression for commercial purpose and because it set them apart from the other fashion brands. They are disconnected from opinion views/general public, they probably abuse of drugs (not a secret) and as all people in the industry, they think that the Law doesn't apply to them, privilege at his core.
Karen Mulder is fine now, she raised her daughter Anna, the father was the late Santo Domingo Junior. Karen has a quite life between Paris, Saint Barth and Saint Tropez.
@@ARI_BSNT "Santo Domingo" is a billionaire american/colombian family known wordly in the Gotha, Tatiana Santo Domingo (his daughter) is Prince Andrea of Monaco wife. But Julio Mario Santo Domingo jr(died in 2009) was Karen Mulder boyfriend and father of their daughter, Anna. Harvard University hosts his huge books collection.
@@amanielwolde ohhh I searched i was curious i hope Karen is fine and happy without any creep now but how was it figured out that he was the dad did anna got his surname
@@ARI_BSNT Well, she was right when she said that Elite models boss, Gérald Marie, used to rape models. 20 models accused him of rape, 35/30 years later. But Gérald Marie sent Karen to a psychiatric hospital and Élite paid the bill. She wasn't crazy at all. She was right.
I remember when I was younger I wanted be a model so bad. My mom would take me to audition and stuff. I'm glad I didn't take that path. They really go through alot
Hey Pelli - Welcome back! Rashida's rite - We've missed ur videos. ▪︎ Ur research is usually thorough & spot o 👍🏼 | Which is why I wanted 2 correct 1 small mistake in this video. So that ur reputation as an accurate & entertaining source of all things models/fashion remains intact 🧡 ▪︎ As rotten as he was, Johnny C. didn't try to "sell a black model"..😅 ▪︎ What he actually said was..."Trying 2 sell a black model in Paris was like trying 2 sell an old 🚗 that nobody wanted." ▪︎ (Grace had gone 2 him seeking representation.) The above was his answer 2 her. ▪︎ Wot he meant by wot he said = Trying 2 'sell' a black model in Paris...ie: Trying 2 pitch or recommend her 4 work to Parisan Clients was like try to 'sell'..(ie: offer)...a commodity that no-one wanted. Around that time...this was certainly true. With the exception of a few Designers like Saint Laurent, Givenchy, Ungaro, Alaia, Sonia Rykiel & Balmain...most high-end, French Fashion houses wouldn't even consider using black models.. Or even agree 2 see them during casting week. ▪︎ Grace Jones knew this was true. But wot offended her = Johnny C's choice of example. In her eyes...he could have said s'thing like trying 2 'sell' such a girl was like trying 2 'sell' gold 2 a King. Or 💎s to a 💎-dealer. ▪︎ B/c that'd show he thought highly of the black models in Paris. ie: Like gold or diamonds. The fact he likened them 2 "an old car" showed how he really saw them. And this is wot Geace gound so offensive. Two Closing Points... 1) Johnny C's opinions were ironic b/c France, (& Paris), went on 2 become one of Grace's biggest markets. (Have a look @ any of her work with Jean-Paul Goude.) 2) An account of the Grace Jones-v- Johnny C encounter can be seen @ www.google.com/amp/s/hintmag.com/2017/11/04/grace-jones-sexual-harassment-cnn-november-04-2017-1300-fashion/%3famp ▪︎ Please DO keep up ur good work & vids - they're great!! 👏🏼👏🏼 ▪︎ This comment is just 2 enlighten a mis-fact...plus share some background on this industry we both clearly love 🫂
Thank you! See this is why I always try to double and even triple check my sources. My apology for the mistake, I know I should know this already but next time I really won’t take what someone say on twitter as fact 😭 THANK YOU for the correction. Hope you have a great day. 💕💕
Yes the cloths were out of this world.u hv the figure thats money.these girls learned the hard way.yasmen G, got out while the money was gd. She was lucky.still one of my favs frm the ,90s era.
Its job and like most jobs suck. But most of these girls really enjoyed what they did exceptly Linda who really liked being model. If she could she do it forever.
I think this is alot of exaggeration. And yeah there were expectations bc just like a regular job...u have to have what they are looking for. And as far the weight thing..it inspired ppl to live more healthy I think. Now days ppl are having heart attacks from eating junk bc obesity has became ok in mainstream. Just like any other job u apply for, u can be rejected or asked to change. 🤷
I witnessed 14 years old model who couldn't walk because she starved herself, models with hairy arms and legs, a sign of anorexia. There isn't an exageration, the weight standards were and still are extreme, model statistics/measurements are 34 bust, 24 waist, 34 hips, even less if the model is shorter than the standards. So i agree that our look at junk food evolved, even if the junk foods is still many billions industry and increasing. But models put the spotlight on eating disorders, remember Ana Carolina Reston died exhausted by anorexia or Isabelle Caro. Only cocaïne addicted models were skinny and full of energy, but they dealed with addiction for years.
