This is a video in my Book vs Movie series. This one is on The Dark Tower by Stephen King. I mostly rant and give my thoughts on the movie. This is more so a rant video than a book vs movie series.

You should do more of these, I love SK and his books..... The Outsider was amazing as well, they did a much better job on the show, until the ending LOL. I would be curious to see what your favorites are from him and which film adaptations you are most fond of. Keep it up!

LoL. This is why I told you 2 watch. So I wouldn't be the only one 2 hate it. Misery loves company.🤣 LoL. Hahaha..... What.... That's how I was, all the way through the move . What.... He(King) said he liked it because he don't want people coming at him. Plus he said He use 2 hate most the movies from his books , but realize they brought more people 2 his books , if the movie suck ,or not. So good 4 him either way. I have never understood how a movie ,or show that only gets made because a Book, or series sells so well....Yet still they don't follow the story. 🤷‍♂️🤪 I enjoyed the rant. LoL. Nothing could’ve prepared me for this adaptation lol I’m surprised he gives the rights away to his books with so many ridiculous adaptations but if he sees a spike in book sales, I guess it’s a win win for him. I’ve also heard that he cried after watching the adaptation to his book The Body. I’m not sure if the movie has the same name but I’m excited to get to that one.

Ughh I saw this film in theaters 🤦🏻‍♀️ it was so bad! The Dark Tower needs to be a series, not a single movie for sure.

After what they did with 'The Stand' which is one of my favorites, I did not have much hope. I never expected the complete dumpster fire of a movie they released for the Dark Tower. It was so bad I'm mad at SK for ever signing off on any of it, even the pg-13 rating. WHYYYYYY STEPHEN WHYYYY!?!?!?!

I get the house. Bc it's from where Eddie, Suzanne, and the ka ta went through the portal and Jake kills the house and the house is from the black house/ the eye of the dragon house

I didn't start reading the dark tower series till last year but when I watched the movie I just didn't love it I enjoyed the acting part but I think that when they decided to change loads of things from the book it backfired and when I read the gunslinger I and the other books I could tell that the movie wasn't following from the books they definitely shouldn't had changed so much stuff 🤪🤯😬🥶😠😡🤬

Exactly! They changed almost everything. I don’t consider this an adaptation. It was too different.

@@Booksinthedark yeah you are so right but I do hope that mike flannigan will someday get the rights to do a tv series on the series he did a wonderful job on both gerald's game and doctor sleep I really enjoyed doctor sleep

@@cynthiaholmes5124 I haven’t watched Gerald’s Game but I did watch Doctor Sleep. The adaptation was okay. I was bummed out that they didn’t end it with Dan at the AA meeting like in the book. When I read that ending a few tears came out lol

Bonjour du Québec. I read the 4 first book and tried the 5th and ... it is a weird one just like the 4th is a back story... To me the best books are 2 and 3. Anyway the mobie I was over the top excited to rent it and told mybdad hey this is the movie of the books Ibloved so much... And... I was with him and I was like this is not like the first book.... Not like the 2nd 3rd etc... I did not imagined it that way... And I mean Rolland is based on Clint Eastwood so why a black actor? Very annoying. Where is Eddy? Where is Susannah? It was at time like a dark Harry Potter... Wtf?!

Exactly! It was like someone said they read the book but only skimmed the first one and tried to make a movie. I was so disappointed that the rest of the katet was not present.

The dark tower series really doesn’t make as much sense as people want to believe. I get confused when people are so upset about adaptations because honestly if it was adapted like the actual series… everyone would hate it. Like literally would make no sense.

I think the dark tower series should be made into a TV series that way the producers and writers can just focus on one book at a time and let mike flannigan be involved Amazon decided to cancel it 🤔🤨🙂☺️🤗😊

Dark tower series barely makes sense lol it’s the type of fantasy that takes liberties so I see why they changed the story. I am enjoying the series tho.

His being black didn't hurt the movie because it was incomplete. Had Detta , been in it, then it would have mattered a lot. I was hoping they would have gave Elba crystal blue eyes though as that was Roland's most important feature

Yes I agree that Elba’s skin color didn’t hurt the movie. He’s a great actor, if anything he enhanced what little their was to work with. I was just stating that in the books he was a white man. If they gave Elba blue contacts for the movie. That would’ve been pretty cool.

I actually liked the movie, but I also haven’t read the books. Plus I’d like just about anything with McConaughy and Elba in it.

I love the actors and the acting was good. I think they both portrayed their characters very well. They just ended up being part of a terrible adaptation.

I finished the series yesterday. Watched the film tonight. It was utter garbage. They didn't remotely follow the story, and on top of that, the editing, videography, art design and acting were garbage.

The books weren't that good either. They weren't anything unique or special. Just masturbatory nonsense, especially after King inserted himself and his accident into the novels. Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
