1:19:14 Funny enough Briggs. I live in Montana in a town that you ranked one of the worst towns. I don't mind it. My kids hate it. You can walk around the whole town in a circle in 20 minutes. We live very close to the reservations I grew up on the reservation. I think one of the saddest things is for the people who are on dialysis. They have to get up. I think the bus leave around 4:00 in the morning to take him to Billings. I believe it's approximately 125 miles just to get to Billings.That's an all-day event. Both the reservations that we live next to neither of the hospitals deliver babies anymore. Which I think is sad for the culture, but it leaves Billings to be the only place close by that you can actually have a baby. You once mentioned that Billings has the highest rate of depression or something close to that. It's because all the local rural areas send their depressed people there. The psych ward's there. And none of the rural areas really have the treatment programs for alcohol or drug. So you have to send them all to Billings and then Billings in school then they send them out. It's kind of rough. And you can always tell first Year of a person being here. Because they're the first ones in the winter. Because usually the first ones off the road when it snows.. We did just get a new clinic. The new skate park. But we did lose one clinic. And they shut down dairy Queen. Due to poor management

So are you saying that you "so called" hipsters are making these neighborhoods better ? Not true !! As someone who saw the full transition of Williamsburg, what I observed was a watering down, a "corny ization" the same as what happened to Greenwich village which I also experienced. The original artists were in Williamsburg early sixties. You hipsters/ take the character out of every neighborhood you enter. Not neighborly not friendly and think you know everything. What makes a neighborhood is respecting those and what was there before you Not coming in and creating a cold overcrowded environment .

It kinda bugs me; I always hear it as a misquote of "Get it? Got it. Good." originally from the movie The Court Jester with Danny Kaye; also from the Mel Brooks movie The Producers. It doesn't make sense the way Briggs says it, because it's supposed to be a dialogue between two people. 1st person asks the 2nd: "Get it?" 2nd person responds: "Got it." 1st person responds: "Good."

I'm originally from the NYC Area of Tax Jersey. I joined the military and never went back. I never will. I moved to the DFW Area in TX when I left the military and retired here debt free. That's hard to do in Tax Jersey. If that state could find a way to tax you for going to the bathroom, they would. In addition to taxing damn near everything, they have the highest property tax rates in the nation. The people and crime aren't really bad when you get out of the cities. Places like Newark, Paterson, Trenton, Camden, Atlantic City, etc., really suck but there are some great small communities down the shore and in the middle North and Northwestern part of the state. This video is spot on why people leave NJ. Between taxes, cost of living, and the weather, it's a brutal state for retirees. Here in Texas, I haven't shoveled snow in decades and I don't miss it. The only time I go back to Tax Jersey is to visit family members for special events. That's not likely to change.

I think one of the bigger problems of why California got so expensive is because they over regulated production of new construction so it depleted the amount of new homes being built. This also goes for multifamily. For example Texas has remained pretty affordable despite having a crazy influx of new people moving here same thing with Florida. How can they do that when Cali can’t? Different policies around real estate and new business. I would recommend folks not live in a bubble and actually research this stuff. California is beautiful and people move there but it’s not a normal situation to compare the cost of living going up in tiny Idaho where they can’t keep up the supply for the overall demand. Not the same thing
@jacklong7048
@jacklong7048 6 месяцев назад
So then explain many other states. Some just love every chance to dump on CA. If you want to blame, how about all these investors who swoop in before any locals have chance. Ban that!!! And maybe look at foreign ownership, didn't Canada do a one year moratorium. Many tired of reach taking over everything...
@majorsynthqed7374

Florida is not affordable in many parts. If you want the lifestyles of the Keys, South Florida and SW Florida, especially around Naples, Bonita Springs, Miami, Palm Beach area, and Marco Island, you will be paying $$$$. If you want to be on the water, it's $$$$$$$$$$$$$$. At least in Florida if someone tries to be a squatter on your property, the Sheriff's Dept. won't play games.

The Seattle area does at times have traffic issues. But that is because people are patient and don't like to yield the right of way. And are in too much of a hurry. Where I live in kennewick or eater WA this is a problem as well. My advice if you travel in the Seattle area is to use public Transit. It's cheap and a good system. And at least you can sit on the bus or whatever and get some work done while you are waiting in traffic.

I find the people from Portland and Seattle to be great to work around. They also are excellent tippers and unlike NYC and California people they don’t speak politics and the northwest treat workers who are hustling for a buck with respect. Yes big generalities but after 6 months of working in an airport, I can see good trends with the Pacific Northwest. Surprisingly, since I’m a native east coaster, I find people from NYC- Brooklyn in particular to be offended easily if you don’t agree with their politics etc. This struck me as a surprise since I’m an east coaster working in the Midwest. It’s not the edgy personality that bothers me. It’s the way they patronize the hard working. I find east coasters to be more sensitive and uptight.

There is so much you get wrong on Seattle but I am okay with you pushing for people not to move there because I want the housing prices to drop so I can move back. You like to talk about cost of living but you never talk about how much more people are paid in Seattle. I worked as a Paraprofessional in Seattle and earned 27.54/hour. That same job in Indiana is 12.00/hour. Any person that is self motivated and willing to work will make enough money to live a good life in Seattle. People here in Indiana are now working 2-3 jobs just to pay the monthly bills. I know you don't like the politics of Seattle but here in Indiana we have Conservatives bragging about how they haven't read a book since high school like that is a good thing. The anti-liberal media echo chamber is so enormous and a part of everyday life here. There are signs everywhere saying save our farms from Solar but don't even realize China is buying up all the farmland anyway. Anyway please pump the anti-Seattle hype, anything to lower housing cost so a newly retired person can move back.

In Louisiana, vote early and vote often (been a common saying for too long). That is part of the perception of political corruption in the state.

@@dormandavis2767 You must have quite an acreage around you. I remember wishing I lived in the country, and then hearing from various friends about how awful it was to hear neighbours drag-racing past their house at all hours day or night, smelling the stench of manure-spreading on neighbouring farms, having to deal with dumb teens who thought smashing mailboxes was the height of comedy and a fun thing to do repeatedly, etc. I guess I'm better off where I am.

Briggs, i hope you realize that the ability to feel like politics doesn't matter is a point of privilege. If a state decided that men had to have vasectomies until they qualified for a marriage and reproductive license, i guaranty you wouldn't move there.
@WorldAccordingToBriggs
@WorldAccordingToBriggs 3 месяца назад
It’s not a point of privilege. It matter of disgust. I am disgusted by politicians and the people that live and breathe politics. If something is going on some place that I don’t like of course I’m not going to move there if I have the option. The same goes for weather, crime, housing costs, and everything else. My point is following politics and getting upset about it is useless. Sort of like getting mad at the weather channel
