About to get a new phone, was considering just leaving all the old stuff on this one and starting over with strictly using a VPN and trying to limit redicules EULAs and tracking. When you get ads about things you've only mentioned in conversation popping up on ur phone, it's a bit strange.

To be a proper Faraday cage for reasonable use cases, you want continuous conductor contact with gaps no greater than 1/10th the wavelengths of interest. 2.4Ghz wavelength is 12.5cm, which makes 1/10th that wavelength 1.25cm. This is easily achievable in a case this size if the basic physics are understood by the designer.

Just ordered one for the hell of it. Been looking for a good phone mount for my plate carrier anyway. 2 birds.

Pretty much everything is 2.4GHz, if it doesn't fully block that seems kind of pointless.

Just a heads-up. If you have a note series phone or any 6"+ screen phone the concave lid won't secure with velcro. It will fit on the base but if you are wanting to mount to a plate carrier like I did you'll have to make a modification. It's an ok product. The hinge is so-so, and the tension is either too tight or too loose. Hopefully it will break-in.

Instagram has been taking this data for years, the Terms are not new by any means, you only just took the time to read it now. Instagram is also not the only app that "steals" and sells your data either; pretty much every single app and website you visit does this, both on a cell phone and computer and it only gets more so over time as more things become integrated with technology. It's nearly impossible to avoid this fact of modern life, unless you actually go fully off the grid and live self sustaining without any devices, you are always going to be on the grid in some form, whether you like it or not.

A 2lb hammer is much cheaper and works 100% effective everytime

Neat, I'm curious why they didn't make it able to block wifi..... Most apps that use GPS on your phone are aided by Wi-Fi signal to get a more accurate location.

An even more benign way and A way I know some of my friends look at it is. Well it needs access to my photos to upload old photos. It needs access to my camera to be able to upload new photos and take photos in the app. It needs access to my location and near by devices to geotag photos to give you a better instagram experience It needs the microphone to add audio to videos And so on with everything they need from you

I've been debating one of these for a while and the way things are going it might be smart.

You can turn off access to your camera and mic via the settings on your phone in app permissions. Not saying that fully does shut off access but in today's world you can't avoid this stuff as long as you use a phone or computer

Faraday cages don’t really work. Unless you can remove your battery your phone is never truly off (iPhones). Don’t forget your smart TV’s are also a vulnerability.

The solution to the problem of a rattlesnake in your back yard is to kill the snake - not to drop a bucket over it. Given the backdoors, the hacks and the people involved... I would not assume that bucket provides any real protection KB.

You need a "De-Googled" phone. Even then, there is a Phone-Home chip on the PCB, so you can mostly regain your privacy, but not fully. It's complicated but Google tracks you across platforms as well, so you will need to fully de-associate with any old devices / networks / and email addresses otherwise they will be able to track you even on a de-googled device. Also, you will need to be cautious with how you use the phone, as google can also identify you by the people you contact and the frequency of that contact. With Alexa and other desktop assistant devices being converted to free public wifi, it'll be even easier to track you and reverse engineer your ID. Hard not to see this as relevant to and directed at those recently attempting to conduct coups, given how many were traced using cell phone data. Is this a coincidentally timed video upload, or an implicit advocacy for the actions of those seeking to make democracy irrelevant? Can't help my ears pricking up at this and the last social media video, and the timing of when you were inspired to make content of this nature.
