You could describe them as emotion without reason and reason without emotion. There's a fine line of skepticism between the extremes of rationalism and fideism - and it's a hard one to walk.
@@user-ex1wv7jv8l to be fair, Sakura was a dogshit character 90% of the time. I like Sarada's character SO much more, because unlike Sakura, she's not dependent on others, doesn't cry for help, and is actually a good character
Jack, believe it or not but this was actually far worse in the original series before brotherhood. In that one, ed and al actually stayed with them in that house while ed practiced for his exam, you had a good few episodes getting to know them as regular characters before it happened. Even worse, ed was told that tuckers work was authorised and had to let him go. Then even MORE worse than that, nina went alone as a stray in the back alleys of the city when scar found her and put her down. Plus one final dagger through the heart, it wasnt a quick zap and she's gone, he obliterated her down to the bones in just a bloody pile. They didnt even recognise it was her when she was found >_
Yeah, the original fucked me up when I first watched it. I do wish they'd spent at least 2 episodes on it in Brotherhood to hit some of that emotion as 1 episode just isn't enough to convey how awful it really was.
One thing the original series depicted better. But brotherhood is the better series for me. But yea the original had me in tears when they find her splattered corpse on the wall. I broke down.
Yep the original FMA had more intense scenes. Brotherhood just had a better storytelling, pacing and resolution overall. If only they could've merged the intensity of the emotional scenes in FMA to brotherhood then... Damn just imagine that
The moral of the story for most of this series is basically never play god, no matter how much power you think you may have, that's just inflated ego talking.
And this is one of the many reasons why this show stood out! Most Japanese anime series is about beating god or convincing god with determination. FMAB actually shows sometimes you just gotta stay humble as human being.
The transmutation of chimeras has nothing to do with any manner of reanimating or resurrecting the dead. Rather, it is fusing two distinct living beings into a single creature via alchemy. In short, combining animals... or in tragic cases like this, combining a human with an animal. Also, you might be interested to know that in the manga, whenever a character died, there would be a panel at the very end of the chapter depicting their soul going to Heaven. Shou Tucker though? He's the only character in the whole series that went to Hell.
Also I do prefer the dub, but the sub did better at the end line Scar had, the dubbed didn't translate it right. Scar asked god to welcome two souls into his arms, not two human souls. He was only talking about Nina and Alexander
Only one episode in Brotherhood... It's much more horrifying in 2003. I hope they will supercut both anime at some point and make the better parts of each fit :)
It’s crazy how just one episode makes u love Nina and Alexander, and when u see the chimera it just hurts you to your core. And no matter how many times you see it it never gets any better
Interesting fact. When a character died in FMA manga the author used to draw their gravestone with their soul going up to heaven shou tucker was the ONLY character in the whole series whose soul was drawn going down instead of up.
So, Shou Tucker is voiced by Chuck Huber, a man more commonly known for his role as Dr. Franken Stein in Soul Eater. This dude has kind of been typecast as crazy people ever since. So if you think his voice is eerie, I'm 90% sure that they cast him as Tucker on purpose. I recommend you look into some of his other roles; he's a great actor!
Welcome to fullmetal achemist, this show is so good, that in four ep they show us how be obsessed with something its dangerous First episode Isac loved his ideals so much that he died for them. Second episode, ed and all loved their mother so much that they did something against the rules. Third ep, rose loved the church so much that she took a gun to kill an innocent Fourth episode shou tucker loved science and alchemy so much that he sacrificed his own daughter and dog
Just FYI, while stories that were already covered in the 2003 FMA were condensed for FMAB, the father Cornell arc was only 2 episodes in the older series, not 10. The things that were cut out from brotherhood were a lot of side stories from the Manga and 2003 version that didn't directly relate to the main story (although many of these stories are very entertaining in their own right). I dunno if you are considering it, but I also highly recommend you watch the 2003 series now that you're done with fmab. After the first 25 episodes of 2003, the story, characters, tone, everything is completely different. It is a completely unique and new adventure, and one that I think is equally rich and powerful and contemplative. It's worth a watch honestly
Fun facts time! At the end of each volume the manga author often drew characters that died going to heaven. Shou Tucker is one of the only ones she drew burning in hell. In the subtitled version Scar says two souls, NOT two HUMAN souls, meaning he was asking God to welcome Nina and Alexander into heaven...not Tucker.
God...it doesn't matter how many years have passed since this episode. It will make you do one of three things. One be sad to the point of tears, two be angry, or three just don't even look at it because it's still to much.
Older adult me is like " Eh, saw it once already, don't feel anything anymore." b ecause once your realize these are not real people and are just lines drawn on a page or lines drawn in a computer with no emotion or will of their own. You get less sensitized to things like this in animation. As a kid, yes, this episode shook me and I cried everytime I watched it, but now that I'm older and I've as they say "Seen some shit" in my life it has less of an impact on me.
@@fabian2923, not the animation, in the original FMA, we spend multiple episodes with Nina, and Ed, Al, Nina, and Alexander spend a year with each other, where Nina becomes their little sister
Shut up no it didn't Brotherhood will always be better than the original which is trash especially when they made that bastard Tucker live longer than he deserves plus this is how it happened in the manga so what happened in the 2003 FMA was filler so it didn't count.
This is old Jack but in reality, the Jack we have now is the old Jack, weird huh? I'm going to comment this on every video from now on (only for full metal and when demon slayer comes to youtube) so I have a reason to exist
just wanted to let everybody know this the first time both Jugemu Jugemu Goko no Surikire Kaijarisuigyo no Suigyomatsu Unraimatsu Furaimatsu Ku Neru Tokoro ni Sumu Tokoro Yabura Koji no Bura Koji Paipo-paipo Paipo no Shuringan Shuringan no Gurindai Gurindai no Ponpokopi no Ponpokona no Chokyumei no Chosuke Jugemu Jugemu Goko no Surikire Kaijarisuigyo no Suigyomatsu Unraimatsu Furaimatsu Ku Neru Tokoro ni Sumu Tokoro Yabura Koji no Bura Koji Paipo-paipo Paipo no Shuringan Shuringan no Gurindai Gurindai no Ponpokopi no Ponpokona no Chokyumei no Chosuke appeared in the same episode together.
to distract from the sad, edward being a state alchemist does mean he gets a huge payday. since he rarely spends money, often not even on hotels (he stays with the Hughs family when he's in Central, for example) it all adds up. ed's bank account is HUGE.
When I first watched this episode, I put together Nina and Alexander’s situation quickly when I saw the chimera. I didn’t put the wife part together until Ed spelled it out
This is one of the first anime that i ever watched I got way to emotional over this scene to this day I still hate seeing all the memes people make of it. Show Tucker is one of the only "Hate-able" Characters That I actually Hate.
I remember my first time watching this anime, I drop this anime immediately. I refused watching this cruelty scene because made me feel ill, I cried a lot that time.
Probably been asked before but is Ishinobi going to watch Hunter x Hunter at some point? I love how much he pays attention and understands things and his commentary is very intuitive as well. Keep up the great videos !
As a slight correction to what Shaun Conway said, in an effort to slow down the pace of the anime so it wouldn't catch up to the manga as quickly, a LOT of filler was added to the 2003 anime. Brotherhood, cut out all the filler from the 2003 anime. Out of the manga itself, Brotherhood only cut out the brothers' first time meeting Hughes (which involved stopping a hostage situation on a train) and a mission they had to a mining town called Youswell, of which the events are very briefly glossed over in a later episode. The pacing of Brotherhood is much more in line with the pacing of the manga.
