That's what I noticed. He changed his statement few times so doesn't seem reliable. They kept ut a secret for almost 14 years so it may be possible that they asked for permission to ger married but she didn't contact her family after that or meet them. They were in USA so its possible they could go out few times but he spent more time in Korea so how did they do all the going out there.

So yeah, if you think of accurate age is a symbol if maturity, do you also think an immature teenager who's age is 17 years and 364 days became mature in the next 3 days? In the US majority of stats is 16 is age of consent, few of them 17 & 18. Exactly, instead of looking at the number of years people should think about the maturity level of a 15 year old compared to a 21 year old. That really puts it into perspective. Also antiquated laws for the age of consent are just that old and misguided. Back in the day people were marrying off girls as soon as they got their meniscus. Raising it to 15 or even 18 was an improvement then. Now we know that a critical part of your brain for decision making isn't even fully formed until 25. Our current laws aren't nuanced or scientific

Also age of consent when the child isn't a minor doesn't usually work when the other adult is much older, it's only for cases where the other party are barely an adult themselves (e.g. 16 and 18), not 16 and 22

Gap is not the issue. The issue is the age, when they started relationship.

The 8 year gap isn't an issue if one of the parties isn't a minor which is the big difference in this situation. It's basically grooming and it's wrong.
