this video is a remix to a video that i did (rap songs with dark backstories) which was a remix of a video that tuv did (songs with disturbing backstories) also these songs are all submissions from comments i do not care that you listen to weirder and darker music thank you
It's weird how most of us living on Earth will never meet or even acknowledge each other's existence. For example, if you're reading my comment; this is probably the first and last time you'll ever see me ..
then you shouldn't put "darkest ever" in the title. its misleading considering you pulled songs from the comments instead doing actual research. not saying you didn't for the songs but definitely not for the genre in general. if you want to make a video with that actually being true i suggest doing some research on what the darkest overall songs are instead of just taking suggestions from comments with no real effort put in finding those songs past "comments said it was". just seems like you wanted to use your viewers for a quick vid and it didn't really matter what it was about. this is pretty much someone else's hw with your name on it.
dance with the devil always gives me chills "He turned away from the woman that had once given him birth And crying out to the sky 'cause he was lonely and scared But only the devil responded, 'cause God wasn't there And right then he knew what it was to be empty and cold"
The verse after that is on the same level of crazy, and gives me the same amount of chills: "And so he jumped off the roof and died with no soul They say death takes you to a better place, but I doubt it After that they killed his mother, and never spoke about it"
I absolutely love ZillaKami and his dog boy album, but it’s also filled with such brutal and depressing lyrics in some of his songs. I’m glad you’re doing vids about his songs and explaining them.
@@mega_jonne1546 get the fuck outta here bro if you can't connect to music because you've heard different music then you're missing the fucking purpose
Immortal technique was before his time. I discovered dance with the devil when I was like 12... im 21 now and it still gives me chills with the mama part.
The song IOWA from the IOWA album is also very much a experience when you get to know what was happening in the studio, what Corey was going through and doing to record that song.
Not even just the title track. The whole album and the entire IOWA era of Slipknot. It’s a miracle they even survived past that as a band. By the way, IOWA is their best work imo :)
the entire iowa album is extremely depressing and disturbing each and every song has an extremely emotional meaning 515 is the perfect start of it and the song iowa is the perfect ending, whole album just kills, however scissors off of self titled is probably one of the darkest in my opinion the song makes you feel exactly how corey feels and i find all of it beautiful
Fun fact though, it isn't a true story lol. More or less a real depiction of the kind of stuff that happens with teens in the gang world, something that could easily be real but the story itself isn't.
That Mayhem album is just crazy. After Euronymous was killed by Varg, Euronymous's family asked the band for Varg's bass parts to be removed from the album, after it was decided that they would continue with the making and release of De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas. Drummer Hellhammer assured the family that he himself would re-record Varg's bass parts, but never actually did because he found it to be too fitting to have both the murderer and his victim on the same album (as well as lyrics from Dead, left in his own suicide note)
“Sarah” by tyler wouldve been a great one to put on here, along with “rotten sarah” which is an unreleased pt2 to sarah that was supposed to be on the darkest album by tyler that never finished called “Zombie Circus”
'Died'and 'Get Born Again' by Alice in Chains is also a good mention. The themes may not be as dark as some of the other songs mentioned, but theyre still very disturbing. The lead singer Layne Staley was suffering a massive heroine addiction and had just lost his fiance in the late 90s to a herione related heart failure. Layne recorded these two songs literally 70% dead. He was 100lbs, had no teeth and audibly slurred alot of the words. Still two of the best AIC songs ever written. They both relate to him wanting to start over and 'Get Born Again'. Died is about the death of his fiance as well.
Yeah, that Mayhem story is pretty nuts. I remember listening to a multi episode podcast about them. Thanks for linking the doc, I'm going to watch that one also.
That's tremendous, I have always felt compelled to pursue knowledge and power in order to contribute to the betterment of humanity. Been seeking a means to be influential and find out more knowledge about the human race and about the things not everyone is destined to know. I wish to fulfill the goal of enlightenment passed down by our forebears.
I can totally relate to your passion, if all that is what you desire then i think it's achievable. Joining the Illuminatus Brotherhood can lead to the enlightenment you seek and more. I am well aware that the idea of this group may sound mythical but it is possible to join.
@@ddirtdid Yeah I acknowledge that misunderstanding can occur when people encounter what they don't fully grasp, especially in this internet era. The Illuminatus advocates for the acceptance of all religions. You can look up "Anthony Szymon". Will give you clarity and answers to any questions you might have.
lil ugly mane has a bunch of songs with really deep and disturbing lyrics check out Stoop Lights, Collapse and Appear and the second part of Uneven Compromise is a story of one of his old homies getting hooked on drugs and murdering his family, you really should check them out dude conveys his emotions in such a different way 10/10 would recommend
Listen to both parts as the first verse from the perspective of the drug addict. One line that stick out the most is “blood on my dagger from enemy’s throats” which is tied in with the line were his friend finds out that he slit his kids throats
uneven compromise isn't exactly about that, it's more about the feeling and experience of seeing one of your childhood friends or even family members getting hooked on drugs, it's really something you can only describe if you've experienced yourself, to see someone who was so close to you and so bright slowly destroying their life and realizing that there's pretty much nothing you can do
King Park by La Dispute has always fucked with me. It's about a gang member missing his target during a drive by shooting and accidently killing a kid in the process. The songs covers the victims family and what happens to the shooter.
Fuck yes! Thank you for mentioning it! It’s the only song that brought me back to dance with the devil. I hope a lot of the homies that was not listen to rap listen to this. Edward Benz 27 times - La Dispute is also a wild.
“Drop For Every Hour” by Amigo The Devil is a song about Albert Fish. A really depraved serial killer if any of you are unaware. He had one child in particular he killed, and he sent letters to her parents. The song is about the victim’s father catching Fish, and bleeding him to death. It also quotes a letter sent to the parents.
I was actually just about to mention this one, and was delighted to see someone beat me to it. Hard to get more fucked up than a father describing how he's beating the shit out of the man who assaulted and murdered his daughter, describing his plans to torture the man to death, chop up his body parts, and hide the pieces all around the country.
Parental failure by Crowmouth is a very very VERY deep cut that always leaves me with chills. Its a father letting out his emotions about his childs death. its very rare you get to hear the raw emotion that something like that can cause a man.... haunting
I don't know, man. I gave this song a listen and it's such a bland deathcore, it's meh. Certainly the theme is very serious and tragic, but I can't take the song seriously, it's corny and feels bland. I don't get people saying that they can feel the pain of a father who lost his child, but c'mon, it's fucking deathcore by the numbers.
Man Wearing A Helmet has gotta be one of the most disturbing rap songs I’ve heard. Especially the way he sounds like he’s about to break down when he says “all this time passed I’m scared that I’m there still”
I'm shocked to see nobody really talking about Otep. I used to listen to her a lot when I was a kid and her poetry, lyricism, and vocals are gritty and intense. Absolutely takes your breath away if you have experienced similar rage, pain, anger, and destruction. Not only destruction of person but self-destruction of ego to heal. I don't listen to her much now as she's gone very political (which that's not the point) but 8th grade angry me was saved by her. Sevas Tra is "art saves" backwards which is a common theme across her art and image.
Angels F**k by Jack Off Jill is a super dark and disturbing song. Literally just a descent into madness that ends with the female lead singer actually pounding the floor, screaming obscenities and crying. Worth a listen.
I'm glad you included Lil Ugly Mane in this list. You should do a vid on him; definitely an underrated artist. His most disturbing songs to me are probably either "Haze Of Interference" off the same bedwetter album or "Hideuous Disfigurements". It's hard to compare them because they're both disturbing in completely different ways.
i remember having a kinda similar situation w that earl song. my senior year of hs i quit everything i was on at the time and ended up losing my appetite so that mixed with constant basketball conditioning ended up dropping my from 220/230 all the way to 190 in just about a year. still trying to put a little back on in muscle but god that was some of the worst my body had ever felt and everyone just thought i was finally taking sports seriously
You have to mention “laika” by “sticky fingers” they’re an Australian band. the song talks from the perspective of the first dog ever sent into space “laika” She was a stray dog the Russians picked up from the street, made her feel loved for the first time in her life, then they shot her into space alone to die
The downward spiral by nine inch nails is an incredibly dark track about the final moments of somebody committing self delete and even going as far as describing the bullet wounds. The trauma model by king 810 is another dark track describing what it's like to live in flint Michigan and goes into details on victims of violence and different crimes that go on there which are based around true events. Lastly daddy by Korn which is the story of the lead vocalist Jonathan Davis getting r*ped by a baby sitter and telling his parents who refused to believe him also a true story.
"Daddy" by Korn reminds me of "Never" by Voltaire. It's about his own real-life experience of being sexually abused as a child by a member of his childhood church, and more specifically, how the PTSD from it makes him terrified of physical intimacy with his partner. The lyrics do NOT beat around the bush _("No devil hides beneath my bed, he slept with me tonight" / "He'll take this child's snow white innocence, never, never")_ and it's genuinely fucked up.
Literally all of Iowa is a musical masterpiece and the story behind the entire production is one of anguish and torment. The members hated each other, everyone struggled with trauma and addiction, and even the producer suffered a broken spine during production that left him in crippling pain -- which he, too, put into the production. Iowa is a candid, painful snapshot in time. Also, Dead from Mayhem likely suffered from Cotard's syndrome. And the man that murdered Euronymous (Varg) is also a neo-nazi.
oh im happy someone finally mentioned otep, I remember talking about it in a comment on knights video about songs with dark backstories, cool to see because its to this day the most gut wrenching song ive ever heard lol
When I was 16 (2006) I went to Rock The Bells and Immortal Technique performed Dance With the Devil and I'll never forget hearing the piano start and turning to my bestie like "omg... he's about to do this shit live and for a crowd where only like a third of the people even know who he is... a lot of people who just came to see Talib Kweli and WuTang are about to be pretty surprised" It was powerful as hell to see live.
solace is honestly the darkest song i've ever heard. it sounds so fucking scary, the beginning sample sounds terrifying like i understand what im hearing, but it is completely unintelligible, the second part is honestly what it feels like to be depressed
I gotta respect immoral technique he did had some lyrics that really hit me Like “If the devil wants to dance with you, you better say never ‘cause a dance with the devil might last you forever” hit hard af
To be fair, you should have covered the last song on slipknots iowa, titled "iowa". It's known to be one of their darkest songs and one of the darkest metal songs in general. As well as 515
Hell, one of the darkest songs EVER. The ambient screams, "!EM TA KOOL T'NOD", the quiet and violent screams, and the constant bass playing the background makes it so unsettling
corey taylor really stripped down naked, puked on himself while cutting himself with broken glass for 30 minutes straight. it absolutely does not get any more metal than that
Daddy by Korn is the darkest song ive ever heard, i doubt that more than 10 percent of the people watching this video could get all the way through it. When you listen to it feels like you have a piano on your chest, like every lyric hits you like a rock. And the end of it, the Vocalist, Jonathan David, cries and screams because of what the songs about, his personal experience.
Lil ugly mane also has some other extremely dark songs. Uneven compromise is about someone killing while high on cocaine, stoop lights is about alcoholism, collapse and appear is about his own self-hatred and trauma and haze of interference is a devastating track where ugly mane just cuts into himself
I've met Zilla a few times and he is a really genuine person, I've been a fan of his for maybe 6 years now. I'm going to his city morgue show on the 13th so your thumbnail caught my attention.
Dance with the Devil is an amazing piece of Horror Story telling. Its one of the best songs ever made. Period. Its an amazing horrorstory told by an amazing mc. Its epic.
When you are 16 and have been going through it for 4 years, that's a 4th of your life you've lived. It can feel like you've been hurting for almost your whole life :/
It was just Euronymous, and after that a band member left the band, also they all became really upset with him, in a interview the drummer said that if Varg didn't killed Euronymous he would've.
Dance with the devil has been one of my favorite songs for like 20yrs. He has also said that it was an actual true story in his area and that he knows who the people are. But who knows
King Park by La Dispute is a dark song that I'd kind of recommend to everyone not solely because it's dark, but because it's also really uniquely written. I feel like people don't often talk about pacing in music and save the term for visual media, but King Park is a masterclass in song pacing in my opinion. Big recommend.
I think one by Metallica is insanely dark, for those who don’t know it’s about a ww1 German solider who steps on a mine and has all of his limbs where blown off. In the song he describes the emptiness, hopelessness, and indescribable pain he feels as he “holds his breath and wishes for death. The story itself is based off a book named Johnny got his gun in which the same events take place. It’s an amazing track definitely recommend a listen.
Frankie Teardrop by Suicide, a debut album with poppy influence and then this song comes on and is pure nightmare fuel, Alan Vega’s screams are an audio jumpscare and a half, and Marty Rev’s organ is drones on and on in a foreboding way, this is also Bruce Springsteen’s favourite song too.
•Dark gangster/dark reality energy: Criminal Mafia - Don't let this be your Deathwish 3 6 Mafia - I Ain't Cha Friend Lord Infamous - Anyone Out There Gravediggaz - From the Darkside •Pure evil dark chaos: Infant Annihilator - Battle of Yaldabaoth Acid Bath - Dr. Suess is Dead Spectral Voice - Ineffable Winds •Honorable creative dark/light clashing: Gravediggaz - Diary of a Madman Shabazz the Disciple - Little shop of Horrors I have dozens more but I gotta run maybe I'll revisit
Dirge by billy woods is one of the darkest songs I know, basically talking about death. Really well written and not super known, I’d recommend a listen.
I have to laugh and disagree at a fans comment at 5:13. I'm sorry but to me this song just doesn't come across as a 'depressing' It sounds like background elevator music. Rocking a pink cover, musically and visually this is anything but dark.
I remember hearing dance with the devil. When I was a teen. Before I ever really knew the darkest places of life like I do niw. However, I knew the feeling it made me feel was something I didn’t ever want to feel again. Unfortunately, life being what it is, I now feel even stronger about that lol
The most disturbing song I've ever listened to is called Frankie Teardrop by Suicide. If you think you can stomach it, give it a listen. But the song put legitimate fear in me for a couple days. It's the kind of thing you will only listen to once, but never forget.
Hey Matty! I Like your Channel Idea to talk about Myths about Music and all Stuff that came with that. But i had prefered that you talk about "Stallagh". I know its not a dark Text based but the whole Project is absolutely crazy. Nice Vid Keep Going and stay fresh my dude! Greetings from Germany. P:S Sorry for my bad English xD
Promise by Cold As Life. For those that don’t know who Cold As Life is they are an American hardcore band from Detroit and have a long history of members being sent to jail or being murdered as the result of gang violence or drugs. Their original singer Rodney "Rawn Beauty" Barger was shot in his sleep at the age of 23 by Richard Wernstine. The song “Promise” talks about how the band will take revenge and brutally murder Wernstine with lyrics such as Bringing your Hell, brought it down around yourself Revenge now mine, not a question of if, it's just time Will feel no remorse, holding bullets and pain for you, they're yours and; But maybe you should live and feel the pain that you gave The pain that I'll give. I generally recommend giving the album Born To Land Hard and Cold As Life a listen one of my favorite bands to this day and the hardest band to come out of hardcore.
Hey there, i would Recommend listening to Crystal F, hes a German music artist who gives u the most deep look into Depression and other Mental health problems. For Example hes has a song called ''Hunger'' which describes a young boy with the pleasure of Killing and Abusing animals of any kind. It gets progressively worse starting with a Nail rammed into the warm Body of a Mouse, till the point where he Kills the neighbours Cat rips out her Heart with his theeth and stuffing her Bloody Heart into his Pockets cause his mom calls him for dinner. Thats just a tiny brick of the Dark wall hes building. Unlucky is that his music is mostly German.
The Norwegian Black Metal documentary is called Until the Light Takes Us. Didn't see it in the description if anyone is curious. You don't have to enjoy the music to be fascinated by what happened to BM in the 90s
by far the darkest song i ever listened to was "eu não pedi pra nascer" by facção central the song is in portuguese but there are some pretty good translations to english you should check it out
I can relate to Sid Wilson because my grandfather died two years ago and it still haunts me how I was only able to visit him two times and it still haunts me to this day that I think about him constantly
I recommend you to hear Crushed Mary, I heard it was inspired by a murder story. It's a vocaloid song and there's a LOT of dark and depressing vocaloid songs I found
It’s based on one specific incident of his neighborhood, but he emphasizes often how it’s not a unique situation even, aside from how it was a mother and son.
If you do another part of this series, you should definitely include Lil Wayne - I Feel Like Dying The song itself sounds like it would almost be a chill, low vibes song, but the lyrics are very dark and make you hear the silent cries for help from an addict.
