I’ve been a Chiefs fan since the 80’s - my whole life really - and this is the first time I’ve ever seen anyone cover this tragedy in depth and in a way that wasn’t just sensationalism. Thank you for making this
Jovan Belcher didn’t commit suicide. Nor did he murder anyone else. They were sacrificed to build the fake kingdom that exists today. Nobody in the entire city EVER mentions him. Aaron Hernandez’s death was also staged. And he is now being cast in the role of Travis Kelce. Don’t be fooled by the illusion that has been placed before you.
I remember this awful story quite well. He said before killing himself that “he didn’t get enough help.” This tragedy was swept aside rather quickly, until it just faded away. The NFL makes absolutely no mention of Jovan these days. Not hard to figure out why.
The gun argument is bs in my eyes. We've seen often enough that insane people will take any way to kill someone they want to kill, especially if its out of rage and emotion. Belcher would have taken a knife or blunt object. This is just to take off the critisims from the NFL and their problem with CTE and playerprotection in general
I agree with you, and to top it off this man was a linebacker, which makes him a fucking machine of a person in terms of sheer size. People are acting like knives don’t exist or that before weapons people would use their hands and feet to harm others. It is a ridiculous argument. He would’ve succeeded either way
It’s especially surprising they took a chance on tyreek hill after this He put his pregnant gf in the emergency room with a brutal beating at Oklahoma state and was kicked off the team immediately
I played HS football with Jovan. He was a fierce competitor on the field, and an amazing teammate and friend off the field. The Jovan that committed this act was not the Jovan that I knew. The Jovan I knew was a beast on the football field and the wrestling mat but was so much more than that off the field. He was a mild mannered dude who loved to laugh and joke. As soon as I heard about what happened I knew there was more to the story. I said it from the moment I found out what happened, my boy had CTE. It's an absolute shame what happened. But it could have been prevented if he was given the help he needed. I'm not condoning what he did but the person who did that was not the kid I knew in HS. Brain injuries can alter a person completely, and his injuries certainly altered who he was and the decisions he made. Jovan had the biggest brightest smile I've ever seen and it's sad that I'll never see that smile again. Despite what happened on that day in December I will always remember Jovan for what he was to me, a friend, a larger than life personality that people just gravitated to. You'll always be my boy Jovan til we meet again brother!
Appreciate you sharing this. Alot of times, people just assume oh he was just a violent guy look at him playing football. They don't take any time to consider that a person can be a good happy going guy throughout everyday life and then be a fierce competitor when it's time to play.
Amen brother kind of reminds me of the movie that came out back in the day the last boy scout why isn't there an injury report in pro football the NFL is so corrupt bro you remember Junior seau
@@xhtx1Any brain altering injuries can, yes. They will mess up your way of thinking. Shoot, even depression will, and that has nothing to do with your brain being injured. It doesn’t excuse this type of behavior but it certainly explains it. And how it can be avoided. This has been stated and studied multiple times, I don’t know if that was a genuine question or you were showing ignorance.
This vid is good, dude. You've come a long way. RU-vid really needs to get their shit together. You shouldn't have to awkwardly cut off *actual news clips* where they indicated Belcher killed himself. It doesn't promote suicide. It's a factual recounting of the events. This entire platform is getting so fucking stupid.
@@lemarkusbailey6938 neither of them need to be censored. It factually, historically happened. If you can't handle hearing about either then you need to grow the fuck up.
Agreed. I understand having some community “standards;” but far more graphic, deplorable, potentially offensive things get covered on YT. Why you’re not allowed to say that word, but the nitty gritty details of horrible acts of violence toward others (one example) is just fine. Community standards are fine, but what’s censored vs. what isn’t doesn’t seem to make sense to me.
Agreed. There’s things on this platform that truly surprise me that are allowed. But you can’t say someone killed themselves, say the word “AIDS” or mention the word rape on anything RU-vid. These are all REAL world things. It’s mind blowing what they censor on here.
I think you should do a documentary on Richie Incognito. He definitely is a player who deserves a video like this. He was a very dirty player, and even worse person.
If he wasn't a professional football player do you think the cops would have let him go on a DUI charge? He was sitting in the car while it was running and highly intoxicated that is DUI
Likely yes. Reason, if police walk up to a BENTLEY they will know dude most likely has money/power. And the story that he was right outside the girlfriend apartment makes sense. And the car on can be described as needed for AC or HEATER if it's hot or cold. Believe it or not, alot of cops do great work and let alot of people off with warnings
I went to high school with him, he lived on my block and was a really good neighbor. Used to call me “Amanda only white girl on commander” 🥺💔 Tragic story all around
So without firearms he couldn’t of killed her? I mean the man was a nfl line backer dating a normal woman, he could of easily done what he did with his bare hands in a fit of rage.
CTE doesn't have a dam thing to do with his decision to murder someone. His not being in control of a situation and feeling helpless did. Repressed anger ... people show you what they want you to see. Not what really is
To all the wives, children, moms and dads that say “we never knew anything was wrong with him” their statements to the media after something like this happens should be “we knew his brain was damaged but he was making that money and as long as he paid our bills we weren’t affected when he got hit”
ShaneWoods1980 - what you are describing is considered The Framework of Poverty, detailed in a book. The idea is that there are those who grow up poor, maybe generationally welfare babies. Occasionally one of them breaks out and begins earning a decent or even extravagant money. All those who are left behind feel they’re entitled to some of that money because they helped raise him or the knew him, possibly related to him. And, as you pointed out, as long as he’s earning that money, even if we think that there’s a problem, we ain’t saying nothing….”just keep your mouth shut Aunt Vera.” Sad truth, but then often times, the truth hurts. Now there’s a little girl, who, if she’s smart, and someone in her family doesn’t try to manipulate her, if she chooses to go to college, she’s got a great start financially….at the cost of both her parents.
Scapegoating doesn’t help or change the situation. There’s way too much scapegoating and not enough personal accountability in our society. It’s not always someone else’s fault.
Javon was one of my favorite players to watch when he played. I remember starting to follow him his rookie year and really felt he was becoming one of the best LB's in the game.
See , women/ peoples like that expect expect expect when they did nothing to earn anything financially and then the same types know how to & love to push those buttons Then this type of stuff happens He warned Her but she was too greedy to listen. Sad. Very Sad.
Can’t say if he didn’t own a gun Cassandra would still be alive today. He snapped, so I’m sure he would have blacked out and strangle her or something like that. He was drunk and suffering from mental illness. Nobody is stopping him from committing such a tragedy like murder. RIP to Casandra and Jovan 🕊️
@@OMGitsTerasuright. People fail to address the major issue of women marrying a man and feeling they are entitled to his earnings as they see fit. Then, when they don't get their way they take their money and kids via the biased divorce court and custody battles. Hell they even do it when they get their way. I don't condone Belchers actions (because it made him solely the bad person). However, if domestic issues are to be fixed, it can only be done by addressing every facet of the problem.
This incident still troubles me. I was shocked the day it happened and it still upsets me when it comes up in documentaries. So many things had to go wrong for this tragedy, from brain injury to easy access to guns to police somehow NOT arresting a black guy (who, in this case, should have been taken in for DUI since that's precisely what the situation was) to really bad relationship stuff. I hope wherever Zoey is, she's at peace with never knowing her parents and is doing something good in her life.
Ive never heard of this story, but ive learned more about CTE and im so conflicted. I like watching Football, i used to play in school but quit when going into HS. My brother played football all through HS and suffered a meniscus tear that required surgery. He is still quite affected by that injury a few years later now. I remember some big hits i took, but i can only imagine what my brother took. If i recall correctly, i think he had 1 known concussion or was checked a few times. The coaches attitudes are commonly just suck it up, walk it off, you are fine, etc.. Because i partake in watching and enjoying football in different ways including monetarily, i feel like im contributing to the problem. They essentially play for us, the fans. The problem is that no matter what the NFL does, i dont think they can prevent this from happening without huge changes. I feel terrible thinking about what damage has been done to me or more so to my brother. I miss being on the field, but then again idk that i could put these worries down. My family was hoping he would play college football, and had a few small offers for teams no one has ever heard of, and now im kind of glad he didnt. Its tough man... i have Olave in Fantasy this year, and Waddle. Olave just had a concussion in his last game. Waddle did early in the season. Cant help but feel like they keep inching closer and closer to destroying theirselves and their families. I can only hope for more safety improvements, because this game will never go away. I wish all football players well
The NLF needs to start taking care of their athletes and not just their money. BeastModeHighlights, I commend and thank you for making this incredibly important and well-crafted documentary. Very nicely done. God bless you.
Wonderful video. Studying Brain trauma in college, you have everything spot on. This brings great light to a silent plague affecting young boys’ role models. Props to you.
27:22 absolutely incredible video! 👏👏👏. I wish we had a way to scan for CTE while players were still living. Make it a mandatory annual screening for all NFL players.
There wouldn't be football then. Now, I will say that little kids shouldn't be playing tackle football. Like under 13 should not be playing tackle football. Some of these guys start at 6 years old. I played pop warner middle school and highschool ball. I know I have cte. I went blind once in pop warner from doing goal line stand drills and as soon as my vision came back I was back practicing again. I never sniffed college ball. So the whole cte thing means nothing. Lots of us have it.
@@mt.2237 don’t have to be a doctor genius…it’s pretty simple humans have been around for thousands of years and for some reason for the last 10 years we’re blaming everything on CTE…don’t need to be a doctor for that to make sense genius
@@user-gf7rb6tl3b bro u need to do more research, this isn’t happening in nba, tennis, or soccer. There are plenty of cases very similar to this. Imagine playing football from 5-25…you don’t think cte was the cause?
Very well done. I was at that Chiefs-Panthers game. A group of us at work had won free tickets. We went, and while we had "fun", there was a bit of a pall that hung over the afternoon. It was mostly an unspoken thing, but you could FEEL something was definitely off. For good reason. Just an awful, horrible tragedy. Zoey must be 11 by now. I hope and pray that she is able to live a life that is as happy, healthy, and "normal" as possible, despite the double loss that resulted from that one night. I offer no judgement of anyone involved, nor will I express any opinion - for or against - guns. I can only offer condolences in addition to the wishes expressed above. I've seen people at their very best and utter worst. Zoey already suffers from the latter. Here's hoping she gets to experience an abundance of the former. Best wishes to her and her family, especially around this time of year. Again, good job with the video.

The NFL is well aware of CTE but will never admit it. One is the amount of culpability they would be liable for. In addition as we all know if the NFL acknowledged the fact that playing can cause traumatic brain energy may destroy the league and that is a revenue stream America is not ready to part ways with.
You’re absolutely correct. Whenever I hear about what happens to NFL players, in retirement, along with both Javon Belcher and Aaron Hernandez, I feel guilty and question whether we, the fans, are perpetuating the cycle of health problems, these players experience in their careers and retirement.
Listen, Jeffrey Dahmer never played Football on any level! Ted Bundy didn't either! So I would appreciate it if you wannabe physicians and scientists who keep accusing the NFL of being responsible for creating these problematic individuals to discontinue the nonsense! Football is a violent and collision sport! Injuries will unfortunately follow. The players know what they signed up for! It's people like yourself who are the cause of the decline of the sport today! I support improving protective equipment, better Healthcare, and pensions. But not ruining the integrity and nature of the sport! It's fuckin' lame today! Pretty soon it will be reduced to flag football and co-ed. There are PLENTY of former NFL veterans who are doing well for themselves today. And they've paid the price as men, without any crying or complaining!
CTE is a bad discovery but in no way did it cause this murder suicide…players all over the league have CTE and aren’t doing this shit…it’s called being a weirdo in a bad relationship
The coach was very confusing to me 1st he tells the man he's taking the easy way out while he has a gun to his own head and then basically blamed him for not properly explaining the type of help he needed . Why?
He’s a grown man! Nobody else is at fault for his awful actions. I hate how people try to make him a sympathetic figure and BLAME his girlfriend (who he fucking murdered) or his coaches for not getting him help. His mom sued the team! How about take some responsibility as a parent of a psychopath! Nobody takes accountability anymore. Everyone blames others. They barely even mentioned the gf in the coverage on this story, back when it happened.
@@dmauro100I do agree with you tho. I’m just thinking we need to do way more research on CTE especially because the league makes so much money. We are part of the problem as fans
I remember this happening on the news, I live in KC, and it was a wild day to remember I was 13 years old and me and my family were getting dressed for church and saw this and was talked about for weeks
Bro can you do Darrell Russell from the raiders, he went from pro bowler to out of the league, to tragically passing and literally no one has covered it 😮💨
This poor mother loses her life and the first thing you wanna do is sue because your son wanted to play football and knew the risks associated with playing the sport at this level🤦🏼♂️🗑️🤡
She didn’t stop him from playing high school football which is where the cte begins. Aaron Hernandez already had brain damage by the time he got to the league
It’s hard to imagine people who play contact sports NOT getting CTE. Like, 100% wouldn’t surprise me. People point to the Burfict hit on AB as causing his mental issues. I can’t speak to that because of course I have zero clue. What I do know is that our understanding is that CTE is caused by numerous minor concussions over a long period of time. We’ve seen it in very young people. It seems that just sustaining that many blows to the head for long enough to get thru school/college enough time to have CTE. There’s a lot we don’t know..: but it’s so hard to imagine how anyone makes it to the NFL & plays any number of years without sustaining many small concussions. Those guys’ bodies take an absolute savage beating.
It's bizarre that covering the killing of someone else is big business on youtube but any hint of directing that violence towards yourself needs to be bleeped out for monetization.
I went to the same high school as him about a year after this happened and it definitely had an impact on the whole town. You couldn’t not hear about it.
I think you should cover the story of Jim Tyrer. It's not commonly known by most fans, and should be covered by someone who can truly grasp the gravity of it all.
Antonio Brown???? Went from the best WR in football to setting his entire pro career aflame with devastating speed and efficiency. One awful, insane decision after another with no appearance his impulse control is totally blown out. Cringe interviews that all show him coming across like a mentally retarded narcissist and sociopath. Clearly his story will end badly while today all of his NFL brethren turn a blind eye to his behavior and not one of them will offer some kind of help. He burned that bridge with Brady so maybe that’s why. But when his inevitable death or murder arrest officially crashes him out every single person watched and knew where he was going. The only question really is when he dies prematurely will it be just his life ending that day or is he gonna take some people out along with him too?
I never knew Jovan personally but he went to UMaine and I know many people who knew him personally. Said that this completely out of character for him. But as a person who has suffered multiple concussions and more than likely has CTE himself I can say that head injuries have affected my life and I’m sure that they’ve contributed to this man’s demise . Personally speaking at times it feels like I am watching my own life like a movie . I sometimes struggle to control of my anger and while my inner monologue is telling me to let it go it’s like I’m a passenger and someone else lane is driving.
@@YourMomPussStinkyes but I got concussions from other sports as well, soccer , fights , landing on my head on a retaining wall after falling off a trampoline, mountain biking . I can remember at least 10 times I was diagnosed with a concussion or knocked unconscious. Who knows how many undiagnosed I’ve had
I don’t believe it was “out of character” because he had multiple domestic violence run-in’s with police while AT Maine. So maybe he was able to hide it from classmates but since he was at least 18-19 he had anger issues and threatened girlfriends. Anyone that does that is a loser. I don’t care how many concussions they’ve had.
For most common people in the united states your not allowed to own an assult rifle and most shootings are done with hand guns by criminals with long list of crimes. They should teach gun safety in hogh school and you should be raised to understand and respect guns and everyone should know how to shoot accurately and learn to hunt by time your 16.
7 years of football from kid to college did some boxing too and now I'm 38 and deal with migraines mood swings insomnia memory loss and the list goes on.
The fallacy of the single cause - occurs when it is assumed that there is a single, simple cause of an outcome… It wasn’t just CTE. It was CTE+substance abuse+childhood trauma+financial stress+another dozen things we don’t know about. The problem is that if we only focus on CTE we will never solve the issues we continue to see with these professional athletes.
I liked the video, but then unliked it when you mentioned that guns were the problem. No, repeated blows to the head were. At the age of 40, I've had 7 documented concussions and another 4 concussions undocumented and I have loaded guns all throughout my house. See, the thing is once you have 1, the rest don't need to be documented. You already know you have had a concussion.
I think he was just showing what Jason Whitlock said. I don't think the maker of this video necessarily shares the same opinion about guns. I think he was trying to cover this story from all angles. Like mentioning that Belcher was really drunk (double the legal limit). That definately played a role! And also told his side chic he was going to shoot his Baby's Mama! Not to mention Mom living there in the house spending his NFL money too! There was just a LOT!
Cte needs to stop being a get out of jail card when nfl players do something stupid, maybe the colleges and high schools should make education a higher priority over sports
Years ago I would search up about Jovan Beltcher after finding out about his story, I never seen anyone cover this story as well as you have with this video, don’t know how this story isn’t bigger than it is. Makes you think if the NFL swept this story under the rug somehow.
The Bob Costas quote on guns is absurd. Guns are not responsible for murder, just as cameras are not responsible for pornography. Don’t take the medias bait.

Yeah, she sure had no problems with the Chiefs when she was living in the house that they paid for while her son was driving a Bentley, & cheating on his Baby Mama with his Side Chic! It was all good then!
I remember hearing about this tragedy 11 years ago. 2012 was the same year Junior Seau took his own life as a result of suffering from CTE seven months before Jovan Belcher.
I remember reading the NY daily news and In the back sports page a dark black cloud covering Arrowhead stadium Just a shocking story that shocked the Nation

I'm living with symptoms of CTE and my doctor says that I am without a doubt have it. My personality changed I don't have friends anymore I am impulsive. Depression and headaches are just a daily struggle. I only played junior high thru high school. I went to a small school so we really only got a break when it was halftime. The worst part is that addiction came along with it. It was like a light switch was flipped and I wasn't the same person in a matter of minutes. Its sad and I just take it one day at a time.
Panthers were 3-8 and Chiefs 1-10 they definitely should’ve canceled the game. It was meaningless, even if both teams were having an excellent season the game should have been canceled
Lived in kansas and been a chiefs my whole life I my dad telling me about this when it happened I was just a kid then such a sad story I’m surprised no one talks about it ever
I went to many Umaine games when Jovan played. I remember my dad saying that kid will start in the NFL someday. He was special. Should have played in D1. His family were always there with homemade shirts and signs of support for him. So sad how everything ended up.
His comments to the GM, tells me it has less to do with CTE than made out to be. Im sure it didnt help, but id say its more mental health and depression. He knew 100% his actions would send him to prison and he killed himself.
People never say. He seemed like a terrible guy, never did the dishes. Was mean to his Goldfish, never held the door opened for strangers. He also smelled very bad and once burnt toast at breakfast. That was the final straw.
I don’t agree with the gun statements! That’s just an excuse for them to not address the CTE problem in the NFL!! Look at Sean Taylor’s story when he got 💥 during a home defense? If he DID HAVE one maybe he would be alive 🤷🏾♂️
