Bro the green screen was a genius touch! It was actually really enjoyable seeing you present the information rather than just hear your voice! 10/10 mate
27:16 Tbf to Graham Poll, one of the reasons why he got mixed up was because the game was between australia and croatia and the culprit simunic, despite representing croatia, was actually born and raised in australia, so poll heard his accent and then mistakenly wrote down the australian number 3 in his book and not croatia's number 3. Plus, he had already sent off 2 players during the game so he probably wasn't expecting another to give another. He did eventually give him a red after the third yellow card tho 😅😅
Some corrections: 1. "El Maracanazo" was the match won by Uruguay in the "finals" against Brasil in 1950, and not the Brasil - Chile qualifiers match. 2. Argentina 6-0 Peru was more about cleaning up the government image due to the accusations of violating human rights (which was confirmed later on) rather than the Falkland Islands war (it was starting to be another issue, but at that time was more a banter between Argentina and England).
Another correction: Grahame Poll handed out 3 yellow cards yes, but the Croatian player did get sent off after the 3rd yellow card. Vizeh claimed that he received the 3 cards but did not get sent off, but he did.
Definitely my favorite documentary football youtuber out there. Vizeh, If you have time you should check out arminia bielfields great big fall. This interesting story has not been covered by anyone else no matter how hard I search and I would appreciate if anyone covered it. The downfall of Arminia Bielfeld 2014/15 : Reached THE SEMI FINALS in the DFB pokal (German Cup) as a third division side beating three first tier teams (Hertha Bremen and Mgladbach) 2020-2021: Survive first Bundesliga season 2021-2022: Arminia Relegated 2022: MANCHESTER CITY somehow decide to sign ortega as their SECOND goalkeeper afterwards! HOW 2023: Arminia Get Relegated from The Second Bundesliga on playoff loss. Now: As of Matchday 10 in the relegation Zone and potentially relegated for A THIRD TIME from 3.liga and be erased off professional football. What happened!? This fall is even harder than scunthrope. If anyone sees this comment and wants to do my idea. DO IT
As an Australian I believe Graham Poll is a pretty well known and loathed name in our circles, you still see some players in that 2006 squad insult him sometimes I believe John Aloisi was also on the verge of scoring the winner but Poll blew the whistle a split second before and when he questioned him Poll’s response was along the lines of “who cares, you’ve advanced anyway” He was a total joke haha
It always makes my days a bit brighter when Vizeh posts. Thank you friend for making the worst year of my life a bit better with your content. Genuinely. Thank you mate.
The jabulani is interesting because it doesnt make much sense that a perfect ball is erratic, but physics wise it's pretty sensible. Basically, when air (which is considered a fluid) passes over a ball, it sticks to the grooves so that it can pass relatively linearly over the ball. BUT, when the surface is too smooth, the airflow unsticks from the ball and creates "chaotic flow" (basically just turbulence) When the air unsticks the ball swerves, its quite literally a knuckleball effect. Its the same reason that when a knuckleball is thrown or kicked you cant predict where the ball will shift too. Interesting stuff fr
As a belgian fan, the 2018 worldcup is my best memory. Its crazy how far we came with the famous comeback against Japan. I think everyone knows it was one of the best world cup performances
I remember the 1:7. I was in Prague, in Żiżkov, but I had an outside table so I could barely see the TV. However, I remember I was probably the only one cheering for Brazil from the start. All the Czechs were cheering for Germany! I, as a Pole, of course always cheer for Germany's and Russia's rivals.
You should definitely do these types of content more often, cuz i don't know many youtuber who talks about football facts with their face cam.keep up the good work🔥
I was nine in 1986 and I vividly remember watching the England-Argentina match. After the first goal I sat muttering into the air: 'But... he hit the ball with his hand...?' I was a travesty and will forever taint Maradona's legacy.
I remember when I was 9 years old I decided to support Germany because of my mums side of the family and I really like Thomas Müller at the time. The 7-1 victory over Brazil was the first football match I ever watched and the final against Argentina being the second. Such brilliant memories 🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪
Yeah thanks for calling out the ladies ❤. I truly love football a lot and i love learning mire about history because ive been knowing mostly since 2000s to 24 and current . And i watch loads of different leagues and more tournaments . Thanks for these videos.
5:30 I am sorry but winning a game 5-4 on penalties against the B squad of Germany is not in the slightest comparable to the 7-1. And on that day, the Brazilian Ronaldo was also overtaken by the German Klose as the highest top scorer in World Cup history.
Vizeh again with another incredible video! Can i ask you to do a icerberg video about competitions outside europe? Like the concacaf, libertadores, afc champions league or CAF champions league
I made some additional informations regarding this video: 1.World Cup songs: You can also consider Ricky Martin's The Cup of Life (La Copa de la Vida) as one of the most important World Cup songs, though Waka Waka and Wavin' Flag are truly a football theme. 2.Argentina 6-0 Peru in 1978: That World Cup was literally fixed as a part of government cleanup process due to the accusations of violating human rights. It's not related to the future Falkland Wars, which ignited a football rivalry with England during the 1986 World Cup (the Hand of God for Diego Maradona). 3.El Quinto Partido curse: Mexicans said that it was more related to the infamous scandal during the 1989 U-20 World Cup, where 4 Mexican players participated in that tournament, despite being overaged. Dubbed as "the Cachirules", the Mexico national football team was banned from 1990 World Cup. In 2022 World Cup, Mexico suffered a group stage exit for the first time since 1978. 4.Zidane headbutt: In some sorts of karma, the Italy national football team suffered this setback after they won the 2006 World Cup. They failed to reach the knockout stages in both 2010 and 2014, before failing to even qualify for the 2018 and 2022. However, this abysmal show in World Cup didn't transpire to other tournaments, including where Italy won the Euro in 2020. 5.Maracanazo: The real Maracanazo is when Brazil lost 1-2 to Uruguay in 1950 World Cup Final at home soil, which was considered Brazil's most humiliating defeat before 1-7 in 2014. 6.France vs Ireland: To add more insults to France national football team, they were even embrolled by two infamous scandals during the disastrous World Cup: the Nicolas Anelka's clash with Raymond Domenech, which saw him sent home for the rest of the tournament, and Patrice Evra's controversial statement that almost resulted in the whole squad's large boycotts. 7.Russia: Russia was eventually banned for participating in 2022 World Cup, with the big doping scandal being out of reach following the invasion of Ukraine.
The 1978 WC was not literally fixed, it's suspected to be fixed without solid proof You misused the word literally Also Russia got banned from participating only when other important Euro countries boycotted the qualifiers if Russia was to play. FIFA doesn't care for Ukraine nor cheating, but money is where they draw the line
One small detail, in that famous Brazil vs. Chile match, Rojas' face was covered in blood, but not because of a flare, but because he hid razor blades in his gloves, he self inflicted those cuts on his face while laying down when the flare got thrown into the pitch
The Vuvuzela’s is what made the 2010 World Cup atmosphere so iconic. Hell I’d argue a majority of non-Americans in the Americas and South America want it back tbh, myself included.
2:12 This "something" was actually Adidas being *too good* at making the ball round. Yes, just round. It produced so little drag becaude it was engineered (i think thats the correct word in english for such a precise product) so tidiously that it was super subceptible to the air flowing around it that many shots just turned out to be "half knuckleballs".
Henry’s handball in 2009 and the madness in South Africa that was a waste of qualifying to the World Cup and I think Ireland could have competed in that WC in 2010 😢😢
Love your videos as always VISA. Love your new way for these iceberg videos and some new editing that's always nice to see, improving and getting better with each video. VIVA LA VIZLANDIA OU OU OU !
love the videos man keep it up but in the chile goalie incident he literaly stabbed himself or the injury. he had a knife hidden in hi gloves im oretty sure
From what in understood at the time, the Jabulani was erratic because the spin changes the ball trajectory sooner than expected, making goalkeepers fail on long shots.
I am from Mexico and the El Quinto Partido always haunts us, Wish we can have a good squad one day to pass that game, The closest I've seen was the 2014 World Cup, that was our chance 😭
I remember watching that South Korea - Italy match. The scorer of the Golden Goal played for Perugia in Serie A at the time and they later sacked him for knocking Italy out of the World Cup!. Also, the referee in that game was involved in a lot of match fixing back in Ecuador and later got caught red handed at airport security trying to take illegal drugs through.
I hate to see how my country is called a cheater because of Suarez's handball but no one talks about Ghana's previous play, which was a non-existent foul to make them go to the semifinal.
Hi Viz. Can you please do a video on Moussa Dembele? I am someone who loves the CDM position as much as the next person. But seeing his highlights and the way Spurs players admire him makes me feel that something had gone wrong whereas he could have been among the best ever players in the world. Even my favourite player Kevin De Bruyne admires him a lot. Please please please Vizeh❤ Wish you all the best
5:44 to add on to this, Miroslav Klose scored this game and broke Ronaldo’s record for top goal scorer in WC history, while Ronaldo was actually at the game doing commentary for Brazil. So not only did Klose get revenge on Brazil from the 2002 final, he contributed in one of Brazil’s worst loss in history at their own home, then went on to win it, while simultaneously breaking the record of the man that beat him in 02, ALL while that same man was watching from afar retired as you are still playing at the WC………………….Yea, Ronaldo definitely cried in his car after the match
Hey vizeh, great vid as always! Any chance of ever covering Thames Valley Royals? Even a passing mention in an iceberg video would be great, feel like nobody ever mentions the day my club almost died. At least Oxford are on the up now! (Also how's Luke McNally got on at Burnley?) (Edit: cant spell)
I remember coming off the training pitch when Brazil vs Germany started, and I was talking with some teammates about getting some food after. When we left one of the guys looked at his phone and said Germany are leading. When we arrived at the pizza place 15 minutes later, it was 4-0.
"Fun" fact about slave labor in the Qatar world cup. One of the main architects involved in the Qatari world cup stadiums was Albert Speer Jr. His father, Albert Speer, was minister for armaments in Germany during World War II, who oversaw factories staffed by concentration camp inmates. Was Albert Speer Jr. keeping up a family tradition by using slave labor?
Some entries need way more research. Idk if this will come up on the second video but the Maracanazo one of the best known upsets in football, when Uruguay beat Brazil 2-1 at the Maracana in the 1950 de facto final. Roger Milla is the oldest goal scorer at a world cup, which he achieved in 94 as a 42 year old, he's not just a likeable guy. Like come on dude Italy 34 and Argentina 78 were very corrupted world cups, carried out in right wing military governments. It's a good video overall, but if you don't properly research an entry, just don't include it. Better than leaving it so incomplete
i just start the video, i'm not paying really attention yet and i hear this man go "there's 4 women here" like... ok bro i'll pay attention stop calling me out
I think it would be nice if you do one with Asian football, Southeast Asia alone has a few from the top of my head, including Indonesia getting banned by FIFA due to corrupt politicians and government interference
