Yes I feel like sometimes it doesn't seem like his mother understand him, he truly was lonely, I could see and feel this all the time throughout the show

@@kimnelly2860 yeah right, I'm not sure if alina could turn him good to be honest, I think I would love to see a redemption arc for him based actually in his love for the grisha people because everything he does is for the grisha people(ex: created the shadow fold to stop the king that wants to massacre his people, he decides to expand the fold because he wants to stop war on grisha and etc), his desire to make grisha safe is such a fundamental part of his character, you see he is lonely not just because he is immortal, it's also because he is the only one carrying the burden of protecting grisha for such a long time, this is one of the reasons I think I love his character. He is the only one with clear motivations to help grisha people, alina is just worried about getting back to mal, mal is just worried about alina, the crows are busy worrying with money and their own problems...he has many flaws, but he is the only one trying to do something for the greater good even if he doesn't always do this with the best means. That being said, my dream redemption arc for him would be if the producers created a bigger threat to grisha and humanity, a new villain or perhaps a war between countries...something bigger that would force alina and alek to work together as allies which would make alina understand his perspective and motives better( I think it would would a great character development for alina) and also make the darkling become a better person for his people again, I think if there is something that could bring his good side again would be his people(and alina could be part of this so we can have a romance 😉). Alina and darkling could improve each other. Well, this is my personal wish, I think that they are just going to follow the books though 😭 I agree with u, The darkling also makes me so emotional 😢🖤 I know he does many bad things, but I feel so much empathy for him that I cant help but wish a different path for him regarding the one in the books

Aryane, don't know how you did it but reading your view points, I suddenly see things from a different perspective. It almost got me thinking that the Darkling can be good but the scene where he was enjoying the power from Alina's light is a bit unconvincing especially Alina's told him that it's her energy and power and tried to stop him and he didn't stop. If the show needs to be different from the book, they have lots of things to be revised. But your words are very convincing.
