Gaspare Burgio The song and the video are amazing. I will buy the record for sure. It just feels weird whenever any of the original 4 are out. It felt the same way when Frankie was out on the second album. The silence around his leaving was weird. I love this band so I hate to see any of them out of it. I hope he comes back.

Evil from evilution considering I hated this band in the past, and am actually getting this album today, that says something about how good this song is. I clicked on it originally expecting it to suck, but I was dead wrong, this is a classic rocker at its finest. Hawkins just about nailed the description too **LOL** I'm glad he is experimenting with different styles of singing and showing that he is actually pretty diverse with singing styles. I have to give them credit, they've pretty much won me over as a fan.
IcedEarthaholic congrats on a wise purchase. i found that Mighty Wingz outrocks just about everything ... in the history of rock. the punk-head-banging riffs in Roaring Waters also very classy, indeed. this album is a lot of fun
The C...MOnSteRs Mighty Wings is definitely an awesome song for sure, straight out of the 80's for sure, as is the rest of the album for the most part. Roaring Waters is also amazing. I've been cranking this album ever since picking it up. Great riffage found throughout, and this track just kicks it off perfectly.

When I first heard 'PermissionTo Land' album, my buttocks were literally quivering like jelly for the duration of it. Whilst this song 'Barbarian' doesn't have that effect, I noticed my buttocks remained still & did not quiver, it is decent song, maybe not as catchy or with the commercial potential of '.....Thing Called Love'. Maybe when the album comes out my buttocks wil be quivering like jelly & I'll feel deep stirring in my loins but not rushing to buy it until I hear some other tracks.
Only The Darkness could take a power metal song and turn it into a glam rock track. It's like driving a Ferrari across Miami, wearing a viking outfit. So strange, so british! That's why the video is so humorous. You won me again, The Darkness XD!

Personally? Damn this song kicks ass. Permission to Land is their best album hands down. One Way Ticket was good and so was Hot Cakes, but both never really lived up to Permission for me. However I feel that this song alone shows that its going in the right direction. Great rock and roll, cant wait to hear more!
***** yes that was perhaps the closest match for some to call a rip off, but it would have been the least fair, as Roy Thomas Baker produced for both Queen and that second Darkness album. His production style and direction likely showed through both acts

Ok, never been a fan of the darkness...went to a black stone cherry gig in cardiff and these were co headliners....what I saw completely changed my mind about them...these guys can play...these guys rock...hard!! And when they played this track 'barbarian'..that's what turned me into a new fan...just wish this song was longer...as it is it's a masterpiece, the riffs are tasty..but can u imagine if it was a 7 or 8 min track...it would be a classic...sorry...it is a fucking classic...so glad I caught them live and appreciate what they do...fucking great stuff🤘🤘🤘

Aye, I feel this album needs a follow up as a whole, call it "We Will Rise Again", and yes, I agree a sequel to "Barbarian" called "Barbarian Pt. II - Taking Back What's Ours" should be on the album. Love it when they touch on historical subjects like this.

this song was awesome x-) hilarious music video thats sweetly doesn't take itself too seriously they could have easily made this song heavier, however the Darkness have craftily stayed in the heavy rock genre its awesome seeing a band that still commit themselves to this not rely poplar genre anymore :-)
I’m here listening to this on the first day of April 2022 and it rocks. This band is way underrated. They make music the way it should be, that’s to say it moves you!
This is one of the greatest rock n roll songs of the last decade. Lyrically pure, musically clever, badass but danceable; delivery only slightly wry. Christ, I love the Darkness. I dont know what I'd do if I couldnt see them every year. One of the the best rock n roll bands Britain has ever produced IMO.
To all those who don't really 'get' the brilliance of the Barbarian video or The Darkness for that matter - the boys are extremely good musicians, songwriters and entertainers, but they have their tongue very firmly planted in their cheek! That's why we love em! Too many people in this business take themselves far too seriously!

Darkness are just so far out of most other band's leagues. Some of their stuff is tongue and cheek (stampeded of love is the best example) but this is some old folk lore (based on fact) from East Anglia where they're from. This is where the "Vikings" show demonstrates the Vikings conquest of the lower East Coast of England. Accurate history set to an awesome voice, and awesome guitar riffs....just mint!
What must really P off the people who want to slag this band off is that it is undeniable that they can play, sing, write and perform. Ha, ha; naysayers - we are the sons of Bognor.

OMG - they killed Justin! You bastards! I think it's brilliant- reminded me of Game of Thrones, How To Train Your Dragon, Noggin the Nog, Spinal Tap: there's even a touch of Judge Dredd about it! Oh, and I loved the Great Dane joke!
