Other people: "Greta Van Fleet will save rock". Me: "Cool, but for those who've been paying attention, The Darkness have been saving rock for the last 20 years!"
Riff, Groove, Vocals, Solo, Video...... it’s got it all, one of their best songs by a country mile and totally unrecognised by most of the world. Very underrated group.
It's recognized by Cult fans. It's a tribute to their style. Justin and Company are amazing in their own right. I'd live to see Ian and Billy cover Open Fire.
In my opinion one of THE most underrated rock bands ever. Saw them live in Sacramento in September with my daughter. We are Darkness fans for life. So damn great live. 🤟
Saw them few days ago on festival. I knew them berfore, except for few songs I never really liked them, but performing live, that was really different. They may not be the biggiest band arround that show, they had no obvious hits, headbangers etc., but still it was such a pleasure to watch and listen them performing, playing their instruments with such ease and skill. It was certainly not the biggest show, but musically, it was really completely different level among the bands like the offspring, Yungblud, Sum41, Bring me the horizon, parkway drive, royal republic or palaye royale also performing there. Respect.
Omg just "discovered" this band today, I'm so so late to this BUT better late than never. I had a really awful fucked up day. It's 2022 and a lot of daily life flat out sucks BUT finding The Darkness has made it better! Thank you guys soooo much from the bottom of my old lady grandmother heart.
I was just over listening to Everlong by the Foo Fighters when I ran across your post about never really being loved the way others have. The very next song I click on, and I see you again. I really hope life is looking up for you and that you find the love you deserve. Your words really resonated with me because I kinda feel the same as you. I dedicate one of my all time favorite songs for the last 30 years to you. I have listened to this song so many times over the years because I just find it comforting. And it just plain rocks. Wildside- Looks like love. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-C9NzoxrjN_A.html
They're incredible Hanna (especially live where they somehow improve every time I've seen them), and welcome along to The Darkness family (finally) - all are welcome, none ever leave!!
I'm 48 years old. This is the first "new" band I've gotten excited about in many, many years. I don't listen to the radio, or watch tv. A coworker was playing some song of theirs, and I'm grateful!
I'm guessing you don't listen to many rock bands then. This song is great, but in no way is it one of the best in the last 20 years. In fact, it's kind of generic.
I'm really glad that The Darkness still has that good "old school" pure rock and metal sound in year 2016 ^^. They've really defrosted hell and saved rock 'n' roll again as they said back in 2005 in their music video "One way ticket to hell and back" :)
@@cmikesmith664 I honestly would like the band(s) songs to be less derivative but I find cool that he sings like that, its pretty unique tone. It separates him from his influences like Astbury, Mercury, etc.
If you're a fan and love this song, even though it's approaching 4 years old , you need to call your radio stations and request it over and over. Get your friends to do the same thing to the same radio stations. Start generating a buzz for the song so that stations listen. Radio stations are not playing it because they have no talent in their executives anymore, plus no one takes the initiative to call. Everyone just whines on social media now. Email radio stations too, even from different email addresses.
Because “rock” stations would rather feed us shit like theory of a deadman, seether, bad wolves, bad flower and a bunch of other boring mediocre cookie cutter buttock shit
I love this. Great to hear Justin exploring new styles of singing, even though I love his falsetto. This feels even stronger than the last album. I do miss Ed though, hope he's alright.
***** It was supposedly a mutual split, I think it was health issues (it usual is.) Drummers always get hurt the worst because their job is the most physically demanding.
LuneyTune72 I hadn't realised he has left - I am from Lowestoft, the band's home town...hadn't read anything locally about it - great new music though!
LuneyTune72 apparently it isn't his health this time thankfully, he just has some issues that he needs to sort out in his private life, and his work got in the way of that. If that is the case, I guess the door is open for him in the future.
i was listening to planet rock radio and from what i remember, one of the presenters said a member of the cult actually helped the darkness when recording which is how they got the sound and it sounds so much like the cult.
I'm 34 first got into the darkness in 03 & loved them ever since, there still rocking better than anyone, seen them last week at the Barras, welcome to Glasgea! Long live the darkness! 😎🎸🔥🏴👍
I decided to check this out randomly because I've been watching Justin Hawkins Rides Again show and this song came up during a question was intruiged by the different vocal take... I had always thought The Darkness sang with the high falsetto style from "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" throughout and never knew he could sound like this... this sounds pretty damned good, good on Justin
I also follow Justin's channel, which led me to revisit The Darkness. I'm really glad I did. Great old school rock from a group of extremely talented musicians and Justin's voice is absolutely insane.
This song is amazing. Yes, i do hear the Cult in it. Justin's voice sounds great. He's embraced a more hard rock less falsetto sound that he used to have on The Darkness first two albums.
This song is one of my favourite songs of all time it's just totally cool and kicks ass at the same time and it does sound similar to The Cult She Sells Sanctuary but who cares even if they sound the same there still the coolest rock tunes on the planet so who cares but great video and nice one to The Darkness for doing it again cheers everyone.
I can not understand why this band isn't massive..they are as good as any rock band out there.....did they upset someone in a high place...it begs the question.
Is it just me or are others noticing how much more dynamic Justin has gotten with his singing abilities? This CD kicks ass and they're getting better and better. Please let your next video be for Wheels of the Machine! :)
Only vince neil screams...Motley Crue are bigger words...they looks that kill...micky,nick and tommy´s rithym is unique...but i like this song...regards
HughieDixon absolutely positively therapeutic. helped me through some very difficult life bitz. "Nothings Gonna Stop Us" in particular. and all of the Hot Cakes videos
Discovered this song only about a week ago and have to listen to it daily since. And every time I do, my face looks like the drummer's. That's a good thing. A really, really good thing.
I'm just discovering these guys in the past couple of weeks and this might have to be my favorite song from them so far! I'll definitely explore more of their songs and music videos!
Love this song soooo much. Dan's driving rhythm guitar at 0.38 and the look of approval as he looks over Justin's shoulder during the solo at 2.52. Brilliant. The album is amazing and I can't wait to see them in December in Oxford.
My favorite new rock band. These guys kick ass. Boy did they miss their calling from the early MTV days. All their videos rock especially With A Woman. I did get that Cult feel from this song as well but I agree with the previous posts that they have their own signature on this one. Glad to see someone still producing rock (Greata Van Fleet another new gem). This music has lots of power and soul. Not like today's hip hop crap that puts me to sleep. The Darkness-Rock On brothers!!!
You can hear and feel Justin's love for The Cult dropped in all over the place in this!! A proper tarmac smasher which can only be played at the highest setting; eleven.
@@Naz67 That's 100% right. When I saw this vid I thought "fuck, Rufus is even prettier than his old man was back in the day!" Of course, now I know that's Emily Dolan Davies, not Rufus Taylor, son of Queen drummer Roger, who replaced her after this album.
I agree that the influence of the cult is really strong, above all, when it comes to the chord progression.. But still, there are some clear cut elements that are not typically cultish, the guitar tone, which is more hard rock and brutal and the solo which is a typical Justin-like! It's the perfect combination between the band's influences and their own way of playing and style! In the end though, the only thing that matters is that THE DARKNESS are Fuckin back lads!!! 💪💪😉
Mario Grassi AGREED Nice Classic Cult element with other great ingredients!!! Just like a Classic Record should have! Glad to see the guys back!!Also a bit of Brian May influence at 1.46!! =0)
I love Justin's sound/range, the way he uses his vocals. King Diamond is my favorite singer, so, I was attracted to Justin's vocals. But I think this man has done pretty amazing things with his voice/music, having a fresh 70s/old school rock sound, having these rich songs, when I thought that market was over saturated, nothing left? Good for him!
I really love that sound of the guitar at 2:18 to 2:40 alot of 80s music had that cool part I love when they add that in what a feeling that gives off I always look for that in music song just randomly popped up on my Spotify playlist and I was happy to find this gem.
