Yes!!! Same!! Gf had decided on Korn because she grew up listening to them, but for me it was always The Darkness, my first rock album 💙. Being able to belt their songs back at / with them for the first time live was awesome!
In all honesty, this is the first live video I've ever seen of any group that's made me think, "I bet being on stage could be pretty fun." They just make it look so effortless and relaxed. And they sounded fantastic!
Check Mic That's a ridiculous assumption to make. I've been a Queen fan since 1974. It's actually one of the reasons I got into The Darkness in the first place - Justin's vocal similarity to Freddie. (No, he's not Freddie, only Freddie could be Freddie, but sadly he's not with us any more.) You've misunderstood what I said. I'm not saying is the first time I've seen a band give an incredible performance or appear to enjoy being on stage. I'm saying this is the first time I've seen a band give a performance that's made ME think being on stage [myself] could be something other than nerve-wracking and stressful. I'm a musician, but I can't stand performing in front of crowds. I don't have a fear of being in front of a crowd, I've done it plenty of times, I've just never had the rock star fantasy that most people do. Performing is hard work and it's incredibly stressful. To be fair, from what I understand several members of The Darkness had trouble coping with the strain of touring, which seems to be why they split up for a while. So there's a good chance this performance didn't feel as fun and relaxed for them as it did for me, watching. But for me as a viewer, the performance struck me as relaxed in the way rehearsals typically are and I thought okay, if it were that way when you're actually up in front of a crowd, then I bet it could be fun. Every performance I've ever seen by other artists, I've had a clear sense of them being at WORK, even if they're old pros who seem relaxed in front of a crowd. So there was a lightness to this particular performance I've never seen before that really struck me. It's fine if your perception is different.
This hard hitting rock track was the perfect opener for their first album. It showed that they were a band that meant business. They sound great doing it here, too. 2011.... How time flies....
Justin's voice is so God-like. He's on another level. The way he hits those very high notes yet still very articulate. Not many rock vocalists can be *that* articulate on very high notes.
You know, whenever I feel down, or I don't really feel like playing my guitar, I watch this video. You can tell these guys are just having a blast! And that's what I absolutely love about The Darkness. They just have a passion and an energy about them very few bands have. Keep on rocking guys! The world needs you now more than ever before! \m/
Great look, great band, very toight! 💜✌️👍😊 I remember seeing them at the Isle of Sheppey Jazz, Blues Festival, or was it the Isle of Sheppey Blues Jazz festival 🤔😉🤫🤭✌️💜
No question about it, Mauricio! The Darkness definitely have an electrical edge to their sound! Justin's vocal skills are right on point! I just love these guys! Keep rocking to The Darkness! :-)
