Abandoned & Forgotten Places
Documenting abandoned mines like never before!
Let's take abandoned mine exploring to the next level!
With your support you can help make this the best abandoned mine exploring channel on RU-vid!
Shot entirely in 4K! ...so, turn up those video settings!
On this channel we go deep... REALLY DEEP into abandoned mines and tunnels all throughout the western United States. We researched some of the harder to find mines and hiked or 4x4 back into them to explore and reveal their hidden secrets. Many of these remote locations are filled with cool artifacts, antiques and unique geology that will have you guessing as to why the old prospectors worked so hard to find gold, silver, and other minerals.
A&FP moves just a bit slower as compared to other mine exploring channels. Gly discusses why the miners chose these sites and he points out the geology and minerals that got them excited. Veins of quartz filled with gold and silver made many men lose sleep in the 1800’s and early 1900’s and modern prospecting still does to this very day.
DANGERS? Oh yes, there’s allot of dangers associated with old mines. Un-exploded dynamite, blasting caps, bad air, bats, spiders, and snakes all find their home in abandoned mine shafts and tunnels. Oh, and let’s not forget rotting timbers, flooded passages and collapsing rock!
Gly takes abandoned mine exploring seriously with all the proper safety equipment, training, and experience necessary to do this activity as safe as possible but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a bit of fun along the way. “Gly”, your host and his band of crazy characters “Old Bob” (Gly’s Jeep), “Quackers” (Gly’s duck) and “Bobbie” (Gly’s hula girl) are sure to brighten your day with their comments and silly antics. Heck, they may even give you a chuckle or two.
Just like Saturday morning cartoons before the internet was invented, Abandoned and Forgotten Places uploads each Saturday at 7:00AM PST. (that’s 10:00AM for you eastern folks) so don’t forget to click that subscribe button and bell icon to receive notifications of new episodes!
Please LIKE, SHARE, SUBSCRIBE and COMMENT! All these things help grow our channel and your financial support helps us find new locations and helps put fuel into “Old Bobs” tank. Old Bob, thanks you!
Ok, now for the ugly stuff...
WARNING
Abandoned mines and ruined structures have many hazards and can severely injure or even kill you. Do not attempt to copy or re-enact situations or scenarios seen in this video. Stay Out and Stay Alive: • Gly Says... STAY OUT S...

“Gly”: Hey everyone! I just wanted to say Merry Christmas and thank you for all the great comments in last weeks “Bad Luck Bob” video. Immediately after Bobs repairs were completed, Laura arrived once again and we’ve been on consecutive mine explores all last week. Bob is once again running great and I even rewarded him with a set of brand new tires. Stay tuned because we made some amazing discoveries. Take care!

As you & Laura entered, looks like the water gets up higher, at times, seeing the water marks on the walls. It was an interesting "walk thru". Your (Coolness) looking over the view of the surrounding land at the video's start & ending.......I wonder if you're thinking what I would conclude from seeing the hill contours. Lots of water caused this at one time, 1,000's of yrs. back and then wind and rains up to our current time. So-oo spectacular!

That is one HUGE mining operation, almost on the scale of the one you did about a year ago where you built your “ Bridge of doom “ & roped down into those giant cavernous stopes . Definitely looking forward to seeing you next week based on your ending of this one today to see whatever else you two discover. Stay safe & C-ya 😎👍

Awesome flyover. Can't wait til u rope down into those stopes. Love the collaboration with Laura, too! It's added new dimensions to your productions that are wonderful! So glad you have her companionship! I also liked the copper seepage area, so beautiful! Your drone footage really helps me understand better why the miners chose to excavate where they did. Your long distance drone shots were gorgeous. Glad old new old Bob was up to the task. This week. 😂 only one question:what's left to replace? The radio? 😂 .

“Gly”: Laura and I are making plans for even deeper explorations into this mine later in January. About the only thing left to do on Bob is a front axle differential service and a new seal off the transfer case. Other than that he’s pretty much a brand new Jeep in a battle scared body. But that just gives him character.

Merry Christmas! I haven't been to Crown King from the 17 side of the road, but I have been there from the West side, coming up from Wagoner road to Senator highway. Since I live off of highway 89, it is much easier to go to Crown King from Wagoner road. Fun drive, I did it last time when my 1981 Ramcharger was stock with highway tires and I had a blast. Now it's been lifted and I have some meaty tires.....and it will go anywhere I point it. Not that it didn't when it was stock and highway tires. lol. I have been on some butt pucker trails while following my husband all over the hills. lol

Great video! Not sure if it is still the case, but most of those roads were/are maintained by the local (Phoenix) Jeep club. I had the opportunity to go along about 25 years ago and they do a great job. By the end of summer most roads can be taken by a 2WD Nissan Hardbody with a couple 2X8X10 boards and a shovel. (Ask me how I know?)

Merry Christmas to all the adventures! Thanks Gly and Laura, you really do bring a lot of joy to people. But most importantly. You bring happiness to each other. And seeing you and Laura together in the mines and sharing your thoughts with each other is so nice. You're a little younger than I am Gly. But I'll tell you. Theres nothing like a good woman who loves you for what you are and loves what you do. And every time I see you together in your explorations, i see your faces as you go along and how you share your thoughts with each other. It makes this a whole new experience. Its a great chemistry. A quick question and a comment. The question: The air in many of the mines you explore seems to be pretty bad. Has this affected your respiratory systems? The comment: Thank you again for hours and hours of great entertainment so far in 2023 and Merry Christmas!!
@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces
@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces 9 месяцев назад
“Gly”: The answer to your question is, No. I’ve been exploring mines for over 30 years and I’ve never gotten a respiratory issue because of it. However, I am dealing with one now but it’s not because of mines, it may be because of a medication I’m taking for my high blood pressure as one of the side effects is persistent dry cough. Merry Christmas to you too!

What does it smell like...? When I was growing up, we had a gas station ⛽️ that went out of business. After about a year, we got the intelligent idea to see if we could get inside. We eventually did. And it had an old dried out oil 🛢 🙄 smell. That's probably the smell. But you just said something about an old railway 🛤 line. Just like that smell! That I remember. We went to a railroad museum and back in the storage area of the cars that they have not started to be refurbished. Lots of THAT smell! I know just what you are talking about...

“Gly”: Yep, that’s the smell. Old dried up oil and railroad ties. 👍

Nice intro always wanted to go here even though I gone everywhere else up there. What would be cool if you could go over the history of the mine, and maybe who operated it.

When you turned around and said you were either 800 or 1000 feet in, there was a 900 on the wall to your left.

Merry Christmas to you Gly and Laura!!! Happy to see you back into the mine exploration after the unexpected break down on Old Bob!! This mine looks like a lot of fun. I can’t wait to see what the remainder of 2023 will bring us and even better what 2024 has to offer. Will it be really awesome mines? We shall see!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS to you both! Do you suppose that the size of the adit would indicate they used a wheeled loader to haul the rock and ore out? I noticed that the smaller drifts had ties still in place for the tracks.
@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces

“Gly”: Yes, either a wheeled loader or a conveyor belt that has long since been removed.
