Dead GTI is no longer dead (I think). Also EP3 update: turbo and a few other bits are here, just waiting on some other parts to arrive from the US 👌🏼

You've got the high mileage 350HP GTI with a bolt on solution, my suggestion is to forge the dead GTI's engine, and put a bigger turbo on it, like a Garrett GTX3576R. Expensive? Yes. Totally worth the ROI in content though IMO. Plus, you'll have a crazy 400-600hp Golf GTI, which is pretty lethal. 😁

Steering wheel full lock to lock will clear the traction control and streering faults. Common with dead batteries

Hey, fellow mk5 gti owner here. I have a similar issue with my drivers door. It locks with the button but won't unlock with it and have to use the key to get in the car. I've been told it's the central locking module. Great content btw, have enjoyed watching your progress with the grey gti as I've been contemplating tuning mine for more power. I had an ep3 type r before my gti and loved it but unfortunately it was written off for me. The exhaust on the "dead" gti sounds awesome, if you did decide to break it for parts I'd be very interested in buying the Pescara wheels. :-) Look forward to the future content.

If you take my advice, we should get a forged engine, nice handling and breaks mods, racing tyres and weight reduction, make it a track car, take it round a track or even a 1/4 mile 10 seconds car and push it to the limits.This GTI should be the Crazy GTI. All the best bro. ❤️

For the drivers door check the wiring that runs between the door and the body, the harness gets messed up over time and you have to repair it... Easy enough to do just match the colours

Loving the Mk5 GTI content mate. Since this GTI is stage 2 already, I'd say do a water-methanol injection kit install and then give it to Rtech to dial in with a tune.

I believe it’s quite common for vag cars to have problems with door locks.

Door lock module has died. Common problem on Vdubs, you need to get the door card off to get the door open. And it looks too good to break, if theres nothing wrong with it mechanically. I'd swap the nice bits onto yours, and sell it on.

Sounds like the cam chain and tensioner needs to be changed (I know it's belt driven) and change the cam follower whilst the hpfp is off.

Try checking the fuses.. behind the drivers door 😂 The car has obviously had some cash thrown at it but fell into the wrong hands Great content as always 😎 The warning lights on the dash always appear when the battery has been disconnected or run flat, they will clear when you drive a few 100 yds 👍

When unlocked tap with your fist where the the lock of the handle is. You should hear a click and the door should open. Try this.

One interesting video idea is a coilover restoration for the dead GTI and setting them back up. They look abit worse for wear.

Track build would be cool as it's a manual and seeing as the high mileage GTI has a fast road setup!

make it a circuit car, tuning to 400hp, easy. An Edition 35 normally has a K04 turbo and the engine from the R if im not wrong

Hamza re the drivers door lock, turn the ignition on pull the door lever whilst thumping the door trim below the led switch. I have a similar problem which is common on the mk5, effectively the lock mechanism needs changing

I spied on your instrument cluster which shows 112,584 MILES. I'm curious why it doesn't read kilometers. What should you do? Fix about everything that's basic (door first) and resell it to a friend who loves these cars. That's low miles. Can you tell us what the dead GTI cost you and exactly how you learned it was available for sale?

The cable has come off the door handle , only way is to pry the plastic and barrel pull cable and should open , to get to it you must take the whole door skin off easy job when the door is open, oh and the traction light and brake light are on because it might need new abs sensors and change and hubs too easy job if you watch some RU-vid help videos after diagnosing which wheel the problem is at

The door lock has a set number of times where you can open and close it, e.g 100k times and at 101k it disintegrates and you end up on this situation. It will not be fun trying to unlatch the door mate.

i had the same problem with the door not opening from the button, only drivers door has a problem other doors open from key. happened after my battery died aswell. MK5 R32 still have no clue

I have the identical BPY FSI in my car, a B6 passat, im interested in knowing if my engine is cooked if I get oil pressure warning and my engine is working very well. I drive it daily. It would have seized by now if the oil pump died, correct?

My polo did that once with the battery but when i tried the key in the door after charging the battery the alarm went off after trying to unlock but it worked to lock it in the door

My locks were very dodgy on my mk5 and changed the lock mechanisms and it worked fine

I say you kinda “restore” the dead GTI and see what you can sell it for. Get the paint completely restored and polished. Get the wheels restored. Get the engine bay and interior completely cleaned and fix all the little issues (door and steaming etc)!

Try by pulling the Handle with a bit of force. This is the same thing with my gti

If you turn the key in the lock to the left and hold it, it will drop the windows so you can operate the internal handle if it’s not deadlocked? If that don’t work then the wiring is fooked on the mech
