I, un-ironically, believe that the chase between Harry, and the RC Car, is one of the best chase scenes ever filmed. I loved that the filmed it as if it was just a regular Car chase.

Nobody knew Jim Carrey's name until In Living Color in 1990. And he wasn't considered anything remotely famous until1994. Pure luck The Mask, Dumb and Dumber, and Ace Ventura all came out in 1994 and all became hits, so he went from "The funny white guy on In Living Color" to an A List celebrity with multiple hit movies within months.

Always liked this movie. Jim Carrey wasn't a famous actor at this time, by the way. He did appear in some movies in the 80s though. Once Bitten, Peggy Sue Got Married, and Earth Girls Are Easy. But his big break came a few years later when he showed up in the sketch show, In Living Color, in the early 90s. Then came Ace Ventura: Pet Detective in 1994, and the rest is history.

Someone did mention it, but the car chase scene has some reference to another San Francisco Police Detective movie from 20 years earlier, 1968's Bullitt, starring Steve McQueen. The film is significant for its conventions and motifs used many movies since as well as further establishing Steve McQueen as "The King of Cool." Since you've finished The Dirty Harry movies, reacting to Bullitt should be one of your next film forays. :)

Apparently Clint Eastwood had seen Jim Carrey's impression of him, where he turns his face into Eastwood's, and that led to Carrey being cast in this movie. Also 'Welcome To The Jungle' was huge in 1988, perfect tie-in to this movie. patricia clarkson (Sam) has been in a ton of TV and movies. You for sure saw her as the Warden's wife in The Green Mile and Elliot Ness' wife in the untouchables. Love your reactions guys. Would alike to see you guys check out The Sting. Two other good films where Paul Newman plays the same role several years apart are The Hustler and Color of Money. Newman plays a young pool player/hustler who ends up in the same pool room one night as legendary pool player Minnesota Fats (played by Jackie Gleason). Years later Newman reprises the role of Fast Eddie Felson as an older guy who has quit playing and takes on the role of mentoring a brash young player/hustler played by Tom Cruise. Don't know if either of you are okay with Musical Comedy, but there is a great older film called Guys and Dolls. Great cast, Frank Sinatra, Marlon Brando and many more. Y'all stay safe and well.

If, as you said at 8:54, you've never seen anyone rob a restaurant before, then you really need to watch Tarantino's 'Pulp Fiction' where there's a great restaurant robbery scene that bookends the film.

YOU DONE IT, you're the only reactors to do the Dirty Harry Series, CONGRATULATIONS. Is James Bond next??? Jen Murray is almost there. She did all the Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and the one George Lazenby one. Pretty soon she'll be doing the Daniel Craig ones.

While not "Dirty Harry", Clint Eastwood's best mystery/suspense/thriller movies: "Absolute Power" (1997) "A Perfect World" (1993) "Blood Work" (2002) "In The Line Of Fire" (1993) "Tightrope" (1984) "The Eiger Sanction" (1975)

Fun fact: It is possible to identify if a particular typewriter was used to type out a specific letter by looking at two things. First is that well worn typewriters develop very small imperfections due to the impacting keys. These imperfections act as a kind of "fingerprint" when looked at under microscope, which can then be matched to the typed out letters. Second is the typewriter's ink ribbon, which will have an indentation of the entire letter stamped out onto it. However, the ribbon can be removed and destroyed, so that method might fall short if a criminal is meticulous enough to use a different ribbon for each letter.

Forensic science is incredibly cool. The information that can be obtained from the most unlikely or minute sources, provided you know how, is fascinating. Building up a picture with all that information and using it to find the right person out of all the people on Earth. Yes, it can be misused or tricked, but forensics has done so much to make crime harder to get away with.

Yes, early roles for Liam, Carey, and Patricia Clarkson as the reporter -- she was one of the best female character actresses in the business for about 20 years. Speaking of which, a movie with her in it that I'm not sure I've seen anyone react to is "Easy A". Pretty hilarious movie. Kind of Emma Stone's breakout role, and Clarkson and Stanley Tucci are hilarious as maybe the GOAT movie parents.

Fun review as always! TDP is an entertaining yarn in the Dirty Harry canon, but certainly not the best. And surprisingly, the only DH film not filmed in Panavision (and no idea why...). More Eastwood: The Phil Beddoe action-comedies EVERY WHICH WAY BUT LOOSE (978) and ANY WHICH WAY YOU CAN (1980), TIGHTROPE (1984), THE ROOKIE (1990) and IN THE LINE OF FIRE (1993) are a few to start with!

Awesome sign-off reaction to Detective Callahan. 8:46 Robbing restaurant patrons. And six years before Pulp Fiction. :P From his back catalog of many, many hugely enjoyable Clint films, I'd highly recommend the action-thriller 'The Gauntlet' (1977), in it he plays a washed-up detective who is given the "easy" assignment of escorting one hostile witness/prisoner from one state to another. Great laughs from sardonic Clint, good tension / action and *fab* chemistry with his very unwilling to go witness/prisoner. ♥ Another Eastwood classic that gets very little love is the modern Western comedy-drama 'Bronco Billy' (1980), in this he plays against type, isn't a tough guy and is the boss of a small, travelling Wild West circus show that is facing hard times - though the circus troupe are more like family to him than employees. ♥

It's a pretty good sendoff for Dirty Harry and LOL, the car chase is really entertaining. Another really good Clint Eastwood movie is Pink Cadillac, which was released in 1989, it's romantic comedy with a mix of action and a road trip movie,

The blonde reporter is named Patricia Clarkson. She looks a LOT like an actress named Sandra Locke, who'd been in a lot of Clints movies. I KNOW it sounds mean, but she's famous for looking older than her age. For instance, she was 39 in The Green Mile playing the warden's sick wife.

Frank Miller was so disgusted that The Dead Pool was going to be the finale of the DH franchise that he went home and wrote “That Yellow B*****d” for Sin City to be his own ‘final’ Dirty Harry story. If you watch the Sin City movie (and you should!) it is the Bruce Willis plotline.

Sure it's had many mentions here, but if you yearn for more, 'The Rookie' is a Clint film in similar vein to Harry Callahan films, he's gruff cop teamed up with a rookie played by Charlie Sheen. Thanks for completing this series, it leaves me as a viewer very satisfied to see it completed.

I don't know if you've ever seen Sin City, but one of the stories in that film is about a grizzled old cop on his last case, and was written because comics author Frank Miller felt there should be a final Dirty Harry story, so he wrote his own version of what it would be. He's protecting a young woman with the last name of Callahan, as a wink towards his intent with the story.
