Could someone explain the etymology of word 'essenes'. So far all I got is : 'is elderly' Given their strict adherence to commandments its not implausible. This where 'senile' comes from?
The 'book of Jubilees' is an elaboration on the book of Genesis which elevates Jacob and paints his brother Esau in a very negative light taking out most of the integrative possibilities in the book of Genesis. It was written at a time (135-105 BC) when Hyrcanus (135-105 BC) destroyed the temple at Gerizim in Samaria (111-110 BC) and had the Idumeans grafted into Judea by circumcision. Whether the unknown author of the book of Jubilees is 'certainly one of the greatest of Biblical interpreters of all time' shows Kugel's bias.
His interpretation of the Hebrew Bible seems sprinkled with Christian interpretations. For example, nothing in the Hebrew Bible says that the serpent in the Garden of Eden was Satan (or "the satan" as Jewish understanding is that that term is a role of adversary God sometimes assigns, not the name of a unique creature or even a permanent role an angel may take). The notion of the satan being a "fallen" angel in rebellion against God is itself Christian and not Jewish, but Genesis says the serpent was a serpent and nothing more.
On the Day does not mean that particular day. It just meant they would not live forever. Have you ever heard of an expression of speech? Psalms 50: 10...is a 1,000 hills literal? Of course not! Symbolism in numbers is prevalent in Hebrew!

Generally speaking and in a broad yet particular sense it seems and incites suspicion as to the point exactness and message of bibles in its holistic and religious teachings. Moreover, it seems more factual or plausible that the storyline and independent individual stories are adopted Plagiarized stolen from other ancient writings myths and oral traditions maybe not all but mostly or so it seems! Man the human being as it is called can be inspirational loving kind understanding selflessly genuine spiritual and giving! It's evident that stupidity is awarded more and more by "academics" and the world than intellect. This is why when The Great Tribulation starts, and it's coming soon enough, it will catch Satans world by surprise. The greater masses will then still think, although in denial, it is just evolution taking place. But the world of Satan, which includes atheists/evolutionists, false religion (including 99% of "Christians") and all in between who don't want God in their lives, will "beat themselves in grief" and "faint out of fear" when the Sun and Moon darken, and other events, knowing it is not evolution taking place but that God and Jesus have come. These things will without fail take place right before Armageddon, after The Great Tribulation has just about come to an end. The Bible is proved accurate and true time and time and time and again, but those in denial keep refusing and dismissing the Truth. Know this fact, too: all (the worlds) debates and arguments and insults, etc., will be completely gone and forgotten after Armageddon.
